It Is What It Is

I've got an idea for fox 35, and my fellow blogger.  Fox stands to gain ratings, and web traffic, as well as  taking a role in supporting democracy.

A TELEVISED POLITICAL BLOGGER'S REFERENDUM with the theme Americans Solving America's Problems.    Participation should be open to currently active bloggers, including fox reporters, up to, let's say 40 total, with 30 seconds each to briefly address each topic.  Five days, five topics, a half hour each day, although it could be filmed all at once.   Have a follow up debate series the following week with the top 10 based on viewer votes,  where the speakers would have two rounds of one minute speeches.  Speaking order would be based on luck of the draw, for each topic.  My proposed agenda of topics:
1)  What is the most significant change we could make to improve America?

2)  Where do Capitalism and Democracy meet, that is what should be the role of the government in regulating the practices of Corporate America for the national interest?

3)  In light of historically low presidential and congressional approval ratings,  how can we reform the political process to ensure accurate representation of the majority?  Is the two party monopoly counterproductive?

4)  Considering soaring jobless rates, and  trade deficits,  how should we address our trade policies?

5)  Given the cost, and rising global tensions, do we need to reconsider our occupation and reconstruction efforts in Iraq?

Participants could retain anonymity, if they'd like, just require a login and password to enter.   I will out myself.  This a chance for REAL people,  make a REAL effort, through a REAL free press.  This is a way to make all of this actually mean something more than venting rhetoric.  Who else has got the guts?  Speak up.   If you believe in what you say, then stand up and be heard.  Answer to this Fox.  Here's your chance.  It's viable and it's profitable.    E tu, fox reporters, must be able to appreciate the concept if your blogs are anything more than contractual obligations.   Please, at least post this, run it by your producers, judge blogger response, and give an answer.

1) I believe we have to honestly recognize the problems we have, list them from the most important to the least, and then outline a short term and long term goal on how to get there. There are so many problems right now that has compounded one of many on top of another, so basically there is not just one significant problem that can be pointed out. We have to remember - a change in one problem - if not handled correctly - will always cause another problem to appear.

2) I also believe that the Government should put together a team of the most successful business owners - BOTH large and small - together and manage The Corporate America just like a business - and keep Democracy out of it. Allow the US Citizens to be able to invest in such a group for a return. Therefore many US Citizens will then start believing in bringing Industry back to the US and then start buying more U.S. made products. Make it profitable to the citizens and all will get involved.

3) I do believe (I sure do believe a lot don't I...LOL) - that the two party monopoly is counterproductive. Before any Presidential Candidate is to be considered for running - it shouldn't be all about the money that can be raised - a Personal resume should be presented to the people, The people need to do the research themselves to be able to ascertain what they feel is needed for the Nation and see who is most qualified to fill the position. Just as it would be in a normal job. Why should we go off of who the Parties say is the best for the job? From there, we vote who the candidates should be - up to 5 - for both sides including an Independent and let the process begin as normal from there. So whoever the Electoral College puts in place - it will still be an individual that the people have chosen. Otherwise we might as well open up the Presidential position for who has the most money to buy the position with. In addition - I have always found it unfair that We The People have no say in who should be running for office. These candidates are always chosen by their own parties.

4) Trade polices need to be reformed. We need to bring industry and growth back to the US so we can first become more successful and dependent on our own grounds in the U.S. - then we can be more successful in setting up a more fair trade policy that doesn't give everything away from the U.S. People. We need to rebuild our Nation to be out of the red and back into a profitable margin. The more money we have - the better it becomes for more successful trading throughout every Nation. Bottom line - all large Nations must thrive in order for the smaller outer Countries who are dependent on Trade to survive.

5) For now as much as I hate to say we need to remain in Iraq. To pull out now may cause us to loose all of what we put into it. For what the Middle East can actually do to cause many problems - the U.S. should keep a strong presence in that area and not leave. I do believe as we have bases all over the World - we need to keep our stronghold here as well. In addition - our economy is so bad right now - when every one does come home - what jobs and homes will they be coming home to? People need to realize that when someone signs up for the Military - that individual is agreeing to put their life on the line for the Freedom of our Nation and not just for a free job or education. Parents need to step out of being a decision factor of what their children are doing and let the military efforts be operated by those who are more qualified.

These are excellent questions and it would be very interesting to see what other people think about each question posed. Great job on getting people to think more. Hopefully your topic won't become one of those - You are wrong and I am right - or - You people don't know what you're talking about - because really we all have different opinions and we have become so divided by our own Government and in essence here I go again - "I believe" the Government want's it's people divided and confused so that We The People can easily be manipulated.

1) First, people need to accept that there is no easy button to get us out of this. We need to return to a pre-WW2 isolationist stance, and enact comprehensive America First legislation. If we are going to blow out the value of the dollar by 700billion dollars (up to 1.3 trillion arguably) we should bite the bullet and get our securities out of Japan and China instead of bailing out the banking industry. Revoke all visas for at least two years initially. Withdraw from the WTO, CAFTA and NAFTA. Suspend all government spending beyond defense, VA and Social Security, including executive and congressional pensions and salaries. Allocate a soup kitchen/shelter plan in lieu of welfare. Eliminate the IRS, implement a federal sales tax on non-food items. Impose a federal earnings cap of $2million dollars a year, and no more than 50 times that of the least paid employee. Mandate the investment of all amassed wealth over $20 million dollars into the re industrialization of America.
