My college roommate and her son are coming to visit me and Jordyn tomorrow. We're doing a couple of the amusement parks but I'd like to do some other things that won't cost $150/day, have us standing in line all day, and will be entertaining for the whole family. Anyone have any suggestions for some cheap fun? The kids are 11, so something that will hold their attention without driving us crazy would be great! She'll be here from Thursday til Monday!

The parks this time of year are torture. Flea World and Fun World in Sanford can be fun for children and are inexpensive. Or you could do a tour of the Kennedy Space Center, go to the beach for the day.

Airboat rides! I'm having a bunch of family coming in for my wedding in October, and there are a lot of people who have signed up to do this.

Come on over to Daytona and hope on the River Queen II she is docked at Halifax Harbor Marina. Takes a nice trip up and down the river.Real relaxing. Or try the river ship Romance. They are both owned by the same company. Or you could go to Ponce Inlet and check out the lighthouse and the exibits there and then go across the street to Lighthouse Landing and have a nice lunch. After that go to the Marine Science center in Ponce Inlet. Very informative and is one of the few things that Volusia Co. has done right with the money they have. Oh yeah the park by the inlet is great just to sit and watch the boats go by.

Trei, I really enjoy a day at Cranes Roost. I also enjoy tubing oh man what is the name there, it's like $4 for a big tube from the gas station up the street and it's a lot of fun.

There are so many free are almost free places to go. I am poor, I do a lot of things like that. These 2 I enjoy the most though.

The Orlando Science Center, or The Kennedy Space Center would be the best and are fun for both kids and adults

Wekiva Springs has a big pool and canoeing.

The place DVS11965 is talking about is Rock Springs at Kelly Park.

That place is so much fun!!

Sanford Zoo is a really nice place. Take a lunch, a cooler, a nice walk around the zoo. My grandkids love going there, and I don't mind taking them.. :)

I am the very proud mother of a daughter named Jordyn. She is the smartest, sweetest, funniest kid I've ever met (I guess I may be a little biased). We have three cats, Jazmyn, Jakob and Joshua. Jake is my favorite, he's a cat that act's like a dog! Seriously, he greets me at the door, fetches toys, and chews on my shoes!! Thanks for joining the my fox orlando community and I invite you to join my blog and speak your mind.
