I heard Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez is suing for deformation?

My wife said this lady lost her job over these issues, and says she never even met this little girl, let alone babysat her.  If all this is true,

I say way to go.

I heard about a plan for a prison to be built in the middle of Marion Oaks.  The plan calls for a 2000 bed, State contract for a a prison, to be run by Correction Corporation of America, one of the largest private prison management companies.

Someone announced that their was to be a townhall meeting to discuse this issue at the Community center of Marion Oaks on 9/2/08.

My whole family went (7 of us), and we were amaized at the turn out.  The room was standing room only, and so many people outside, that they had to set up speakers.  My wife and I guessed that their were well over 1100 people who showed up against the planned prison.

Several good points were raised against the prison.  One was that there is a Elementry School with in 1/2 mile of the site.  Another reason is that private prisons  are NOT required to provide to lawmakers/Oversight agencies/ communities ANY information on cost effectiveness and safety.( See H.R. 1889, "Private Prison Information Act"), and yet a third major point was that this site is in the middle of Marion Oaks housing community.  This community does not even have a High School or  Post Office, and is allready short on Social Services.

I am NOT against  prisons (I work in a prison).  I am against Private prisons, and how close they are planning this prison to a Elementry School.  Local news did cover this story a little (GOOGLE " Marion Oaks Prison") , But can I PLEASE have FOX 35 do a story on this??

If Disney refuses to honor the LAW in Florida, why do they still have a business permit.

Pull their permit to operate as a business until they honor the law.

This is in reference to Disney banning guns, even in the cars of employees, as allowed NOW by law....

(Walt Disney World says it's exempt from a new state law that allows employees with concealed carry permits to leave their guns inside their cars at work.)

129,427 Total people used Firearms for criminal intent in just 4 years in Florida.

 

People with CCW seem real good when looking at all Stats

 

I posted this question in a response on another BLOG, but received no answers.

Can anyone tell me the following:

I'd like to know the FACTS and STATS on the following:

1. # CCW permits in Florida

2. # people with CCW that have committed crimes

3. Same as 2, but how-many used weapons

How about same questions on a National level??

My kids came home today from Dunnellon High school.

They told me they were told of graffeiti that was found, and that they will NOT be allowed to take bookbags to school on Friday 4/27/07.

 Supposedly it said something about "If you thought VA Tech was bad, wait until tomorrow"

The Announcement said Highetened alerts on Friday, and this would be Marion County wide.  Any students that brought Backpacks on Friday, WILL be Suspended.

 

Whats up FOX NEWS.

Why do we have to get this stuff from the kids ???????

I saw on the news, how the reporters were interveiwing the owner of the Gun store, who sold the guns to the Wacko that did the VT shootings.

They were asking him if he felt responsible, and about the current Gun laws.

Why do we NOT see reporters talking to Car dealers, and talking about if the dealer is responsible for the Drunk driving deaths, or any of the many deaths caused by cars.....

 

Now

I would like to know how he was able to pass the background check, if the kid was in the hospital before for mental illness???

 

Just my thoughts on a few things.

My kids like the teacher at Dunnellion High School, who was suspended for improper contact with a student.
According to my kids (One of Whome was there), the teacher was rough housing, and playing with a student. Someone walked by, and saw the teacher grabbing the student by the neck, and the SYSTEM kicked in.
OK.
Investigate, make sure it was playing around, then move on.
From what I am hearing from my kids, it was just playing around.
Why RUIN the teacher over this ?????
(Unless their is more to this than my kid saw)
I have been to sporting events, and have seen coaches at different schools, pat students on the butt, or otherwise touch a student on the arm or shoulder. Are we going to sue EVERY teacher that touches a student (Their goes wrestling and football)
Don't get me wrong, As a parent of 5 kids, I am VERY concerned about the safety of ALL of are kids, But let's keep it real.
INVESTAGATE, Then go from there.
