What the heck is this?

Our idiot governor Crist, in ANOTHER move to pander to the Left, has decided that, even though the state is low on cash and cutting everywhere it can, mostly education and law enforcement, we can spend $1,800,000,000 on the frigging everglades?

For what?  To preserve 300 square miles of uninhabitable, gator-infested swamp?

Crist is the RINO of all RINO's - we need to get RID of this clown

I have asked this before and I'll ask it again! We all know what they are cutting off the budgets but what we don't know is what they are really spending money on! It would seem, as usual, they cut what is important for the people and support things that isn't as important...so who's priorities are mixed up? And they say we were wrong to vote on property taxes! In reality, who's really to blame?

We need to boot all outta office and start over...maybe with some sound business people, you know people that can work WITHIN a BUDGET. I work within a budget...do i cut food, shelter or power.............no i cut "extras", eating out....entertainment..clothes. It doesnt take a rocket scientist, to cut the fat so to speak.

First thing I do is find out just WHO is going to get all that money, and then lets find out how much of it actually goes to the target project vs. lavish offices with all the new techno gadgets, new cars, and pays for travel of people to go to Vegas for some convention on the enviroment...

What is it they can do that would or wouldn't survive the next cat 3 or better hurricane anyways.....

Personally, I think since it's our money that is being taxed and being spent by elected officials, starting with the local officials and going right up the chain, there should be a web site or other means as to where and what money is being spent on and for. These officials think it's their money and they can spend it any way they please. There needs to be some kind of accountability for these officials as to what the money is being spent on. It's good enough for me or someone else to go out and buy an used vehicle but our elected officials can't use the predecessors vehicle or furniture. It's one thing if it's a couple years old and in good shape and it's another if it's falling apart. Elected officials tell us to change our ways, well, they need to do the same.

We would have alot more money, gas, water, food and jobs if we got the illegals out of this country, they are bleeding us DRY. It would be cheaper to have bounty hunts and bring them in, deport them and shot to kill as they cross into this Country. We don't need them, nor do we want to support them either. Don't forget to take there ANCHOR KIDS TOO.!!!!!

Wizard read your bio..funny my hubby and I while at the VA last Tuesday met with a Gulf War Vet..SHE WAS AWSOME...and I learned something new...while she and my husband were talking wars...I neve knew that Vietnam Vets (my hubby) were being cursed at, spit at and even given the fingers..they were never considered hereos of any kind until the Gulf War when many came HOME to a big welcome and now they are justifying all those Vietnam Vets that never got their good merits..and so many of them are dropping like flies. IT WAS AN honor to meet this woman..and Best of Everything to you.......Soldier.

If I recall correctly, the restoration of the Kissimmee River and efforts to protect Lake Okeechobee fall into the plan as well. The first reason is that Lake Okeechobee is the largest source of drinkable freshwater in South Florida. Second the water that leaves the Everglads enters Florida bay, high phosphate levels are killing the reefs. That negatively effects tourism, sportsfishing, commercial fishing and the enviroment. The above mentioned facts are common knowledge, and if not cured will have a great negative effect on the state's economy. It's do or be damned and some tough decisions. Currently what does one or two water desalination plants that will provide for 300,000 - 500,000 people apiece cost ? I believe your answer is there.

Hard to make a judgment on this one , first the project you are talking about is a contract obligation that Florida made in 2000 and at that time would have cost less than 10 billion to complete , half of this cost was and is to be paid by the federal government...but on this commitment we (Floridians) have paid over 8 billion so far and the federal government has as yet only given 2.4 million ...
If you look up the details of this contract it is important for two reasons 1 it is how we plan on handling future storm water drainage (Hurricanes will come we should be ready) and 2 we are by law obligated to complete this project OR halt our agricultural production and expansion....RE : we don't have the option of saying NO to this project unless we want to shut down our farms and suffer flooding (well MORE flooding!)

Go ahead hate Christ all you want but any one of you would make the same call on this one IF you knew the details.
OK where are all the Demonrats to chime in on this “Christ bash” ...in spite of the 100% democratic support FOR this one . RE: it was Bill Nealson who first drafted / sponsored the contract that obligates us to this project by law even if the Federal government does not pay its half of the cost!

You have never been down there Gam ? ...sorry to say but you are about 20 years to late , it will never be the disgusting swamp it was when I was a boy ...but you will probably live long enough to see the “everglades national forest” , it will be a small park covering about 6 acres the rest will be low income government condos !
