SIPEDO SEZ

While I was shopping today, I got a phone call from my pastor.  We hadn't had a chance to chat in while, so he was just checking in.  Then I heard a shriek come through the phone, like that of the most horrible thing in the world.  He regained his composure and told me "RAY BOLTZ IS GAY".

I was like "get out of here", he was married and had 4 kids and was at the top of the Christian charts with multiple awards for many years.  I had just seen him singing "THE ANCHOR HOLDS" .

Unlike southern gospel singer KIRK TALLY, who sees being gay as "my cross to bear", Boltz has come out, and is doing a concert at the gay church in Washington this coming Sunday.

In an article published on Sept. 12 in the Washington Blade, Boltz said that he had come out to his family 4 years earlier.

This has been a blow to many people who revere the work, and the man that has given us such great songs such as THANK YOU, THE ANCHOR HOLDS, WATCH THE LAMB, I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE LAMB.

Boltz is working on a new album and resides in Fort Lauderdale.

Does this shake your faith a little?  Should churches quit using Ray's material?  Or is the message in the music able to be separated from the message of the man?

Any group that discriminates against anyone for any reason should not exist. I thought churches imply that all are welcome.

Hardly anything would shock me. It definitely doesn't shake my faith because I my trust is in Christ, not fellow Christians.

Rebuke the rebellious brother; if he repents, restore him, if he doesn't, don't associate with him. I wouldn't use his material. The incongruency of his lifestyle choices and biblical standards should not be supported.

The way the blog is worded, it appears that he is not just dealing with the temptation of homosexual attraction, but is involved in homosexual practices or condoning those practices ... is that correct?

yes dida, he did say that he is dating in the article I read

Vittorio, your statement is flawed, you need to rephrase it.

For example, Sexual Predators, Child Molestors are not allowed within a certain distance of chldren or schools, or other places where children are present.

If a child molestor came to my church, he could not be welcomed based on the laws of this state and country.

Is it discrimination? Absolutely! Is it necessary? Inarguably.

Does that mean that the child molestor is ineligible to receive the grace of God? No.

I know this might be the extreme, but you get my point.

Ray Boltz led many to believe a lie for many years. He says he feels better about it now instead of hiding, but the truth is, he must now face his critics.

Are we to judge him? Like dida just wrote, "rebuke the rebellious, if he repents, restore him, if he doesn't, don't associate with him".

Vittorio, everybody discriminates. Everybody. Some discrimination is needed, and valid, other types are wrong. I don't think this qualifies as wrong. If a practicing homosexual came to my church, they would be loved, but they could not be allowed into leadership.

Remember, some people have discriminating taste, and this is no different.

I agree one hundred per cent. I generalized and there are exceptions to every rule. We all judge, many times a day. We all have our druthers, that's what makes us individuals. I found out that some friends were "queer" as we used to say and my thought was always "I don't care". After all, it only affects me if I let it. It's just not a big deal to me. If it is to you, so be it.

I'm sure there's plenty in the Bible that can be interpreted as being anti Gay. That's not the point. It's a question of tolerance and respect. Unfortunately, the three main organized religions in this country are more arrogant than tolerant. Maybe that's why Paganism is so appealing to me and so many others.

You advised "get a life". That's a bit harsh. Many refuse to question anything about their religion. They have lives but not as fascinating as those of us that question anything in the hope of becoming more complete.

Candy, nobody said to NOT LOVE anybody. In fact, Jesus was quite clear "love you enemies, and do good to those who persecute you".

God's grace is enough. He said it to the Apostle Paul, and that message is just as true today.

Are gay people capable of being "good"? In the eyes of many, yes. They can be loving parents, dedicated workers and so on. Are they good in the eyes of God?

The answer is simple, NOBODY IS RIGHTEOUS. Nobody. It is only because of Jesus that we have a chance. Man is exceedingly wicked, this is the core of the heart of every man and woman, and boy and girl. So when you tell me to get a life? I have, but only because Jesus made that possible. Before that, I had no life.

We all suffer from the human condition. Practicing homosexuality is just one of the many things wrong with the human condition. But to those who would trust God, HIS grace IS enough. Enough to sustain you and everyone else through every temptation and every longing to do what you know is not right.

"practicing homosexuality" is no more wrong then "practicing heterosexuality" - whatever that is.

randy, your statememt, however sincere, does not change the truth

there are still people today that believe the world is flat

practice whatever it is that you want, but it won't make anything perfect

perfection is reserved for hereafter and only to those who trust in Christ

sound narrowminded? Well, it is.

Narrow is the gate that leads communion with the One God, and broad is the road that leads to destruction

AND maybe that's why we have SO MANY PRIEST SCREWING OUR LITTLE CHILDREN..............I rather know a Gay person that respects my family than SOME JERK PRIEST WHOSE A DIRT BAG.......

I'll agree with you on that single point candy

And I mean no disrespect to you father

However, I do not believe that God created Man for Man and Woman for Woman.

I do not believe it is logical, and I honestly believe it is just a symptom of the larger issue of the sinful human condition.

Many people live with the urges of homosexuality, but choose not to act on them because God has written HIS law on their hearts.

Just as those who have quit smoking, in many cases, still feel that urge spark up a cigarette.

Just as those who have given up other things sometimes stumble and fall back into their old ways.

I would be curious to get some response to this. There are two communities in the United States where Alcohol and Drug Abuse are the most prevalent. Homosexuals and Native Americans. Moreso than any other segment of American Society.

Would anybody care to expound upon it.

I won't make any excuses for the abuse you cite, but both groups have suffered immensely. The Indians were almost exterminated and their culture almost destroyed. They are the most impoverished group in our country. They're getting their revenge with the casinos and I wish them well. Hopefully they won't be as corrupt and greedy as White folk and Black White folk.

Gays. Same thing but without the culture; same as straight folks. Kill 'em, beat 'em up, make sure they don't live near you. Why? Because some Bible thumper says it's wrong? Give me a break; this is the USA and I'm free to believe and do whay I want within the law. If you do make it to heaven, you might be surprised to see how many Gay folks are already there. Even I might join you.

I KNOW what the Bible says about it. It's VERY clear what God THINKS about it. But I am
NOT so pure, untarnished, unstained, without blemish, and free of sin that I could POSSIBLY
say that a man who has written such high praises to his Creator should be banished from
fellow Christians, and his music tossed aside
like pornographic trash. I believe this is something he will have to come to terms with between himself and The LORD, not Man!

Sipedo THANK YOU ...I appreciate your sincerity...that meant alot. On the other hand, I am not saying I don't agree with you cause trust me MY MOTHER WAS A SAINT......really, she never ever drank; heard loud music, always had her bible......very religious indeed (where was DFYS when I was growing up) so I don't believe the Lord made man for man or vise-a-versa..ALL I AM SAYING..is that if one is....gay.....then why demean that person and bring that person down....SOME OF THE LOVIEST AND HONEST PEOPLE I KNOW TODAY ARE GAY......that's what I am saying.

you can't hold your Faith or Belief in a Person...come on. Jesus Christ is the only one you need to put your Faith in. Eveyone else will fail you.

This isn't about freedom as Americans, it is about morality and biblical lifestyle standards of those who profess Christianity. To that end we only have to read Romans chapter 1 to understand the issues and God's perspective.
