today congress is out for the jewish holiday..although i have no problem with them taking off for the celebration, i have say...today they should have come in and not taken this "holiday"

why? well our country is in a downward spiral with no upside in site.

Plenty of us had to go to work today and even worse yet ..... there are millions of americans that would love to be working today...on a holiday.....but can't becasue they are out of a job!!!!

your thoughts?????

WOW.........Shannon......lmoff......didn't know you had it in you.......lol......speaking of the Holiday...I have to say this is a very important month for jews.....opening ceremony to the HOLIEST day.....Yom Kippur.....while I understand your frustrations and happy to see YOU ARE ALIVE.......we need to respect it..AFTER ALL.....SOON IT WILL BE CHRISTMAS..OUR HOLIDAY......THEN RAMADDAN..sorry if mispelled...and so on and so forth.......I don't think our economy is as bad as it appears....THIS IS A TACTIC OF THE DEMOCRAPPY WORLD.....to coerce voters to vote their way....BUT THANKS BECAUSE AS YOU CAN SEE.....THERE ARE MANY DEMOCRAPPY JEWS...AND THEY ARE THE ONES THAT WILL RUN THE WHITE HOUSE IN THE EVERNT OF OBAMA RISEN.........

no bail out the market will correct itself just change the accounting rule back to where it was and those companies that made the bad loans need to lose on them

Toddt.....if I were in Jersey I'd be off today...sad.....I love to honor this wonderful Holiday and the next to come......IT IS IMPRESSIVE TO HEAR THE HORN...SOUNDING......ITS LIKE A MOSES MOVIE COME TO LIFE..............an experience I will never forget and to all my JEWISH FRIENDS.....HAPPY NEW YEARS....

Yea yea... Y2K was going to be the end of time simply because Humans decided to start counting days instead of living them....
BILLIONS spent on trying to figure out if when we went from 99 to 00 if we would even survive, and we NEVER even got the answer before the last day on earth came and went....

IF the market is once again as bad as suggested, then I suggest we go to Plan B which does NOT call for taxmoney to the tune of 700 Billion! (BTW .. Obama/Biden global poverty bill is hundreds of billions up through 2015 but I didn't hear any crying then...)

STOP Marked to market policy.... drop capital gains taxes. FOR ONCE! let Washington actually pull THEIR belts tighter! Afterall, FANNIE/FREDDIE would never be in this position had the GOVT. not let them!

This conservative says, you want my children's future, and my chance at Social Security? Then I want the leader's heads on a platter as well as those outside Washington like Jamie Gorelick and former Clinton folks held accountable!

Asking America to be patriotic and just hand money TO THE SAME PEOPLE THAT CAUSED THIS is stupid! BTW- Could you media types do us all a favor... REPORT when we have potential problems EVEN IF it is comming from Democrats!

How about asking Barney Franks before votes down party lines WHY he thinks everyone else is wrong instead of just taking his word for it!

The excuse of the “The Jewish holiday is upon us and we have to wait to Friday” is the BIGGEST BS I have ever heard for an excuse as you very well said. If you all were in a war (which economically you are) it would not matter if it was Passover, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, or Holy Friday.

If a certain person is elected president, you won't have to ever worry again about Jewish holidays. For that matter, there won't be any Catholic, Irish, Italian, Canadian or any others I can not think of at this time. I appologize for any and all I may have omitted. We will however celebrate, never mind, I won't go down that road.

For the Jewish members of Congress, this is no holiday, Shannon, but a holy day, and there is a difference, whether or not many Americans, for all their religious hype, can tell anymore.

The country won't crumble if a few more days go by without Congress deciding whether or not to sponsor white-collar corporate welfare paid by the multitude of taxpayers for a comparatively few greedy, irresponsible businessmen aided and abetted by the politics of reckless deregulation and disregard for the common good.

If anything, this mess provides all Americans with pause to ponder this bit of much-needed wisdom: "Be free from the love of money and be satisfied with what you have" (Hebrews 13:5). Had people on Wall Street or Main Street lived by such wisdom, there wouldn't be an economic crisis. But no, a nation that produces less, less, less went trying to buy and sell more, more, more -- and, surprise, it wasn't there. Maybe America needs to get more realistic about itself and stop living in a dreamworld of exponentially expanding consumerism.

Has anybody wondered why the stock market is up today even though Congress did nothing? 96% of mortgages are being paid on time. Only a few banks are in danger. Do you think maybe that this "crisis" isn't as bad as the Democrats want you to believe. I wanted to throw my shoe through the screen when Nancy Pelosi said that this was the Republicans' fault when it's public record that the Republicans warned Congress that this was coming and tried over and over again, at least 12 times and some say as many as 20, to get legislation to stop it. In EVERY CASE their efforts were blocked by Democrats saying that the Republicans were needlessly scaring people. Instead, Democrats circled the wagons around the criminal Chairman Franklin Raines who was doctoring the books at Fannie Mae to get himself huge bonuses. In fact, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd wanted to launch investigations of the regulators who actually dared to question Raines and Fannie Mae's practices. If Obama is elected Raines will most likely be in his Cabinet. Scary!

Shannon, when I read your posts, I turn into Tom (from those old Tom & Jerry cartoons) when he’s romancing that Hollywood Kitty Cat. So it’s hard for me to write anything but a love letter to ya . . . but I’ll try (thinking about Baseball ==:D).

OK, Yeah, I had the same thought. It’s pretty irresponsible of the Jewish members of Congress to take a Holiday in the middle of this crisis. Some said they may not be back until Thursday! I was in total disbelief. There’s no doubt in my mind that all other members would work through Christmas in the same situation, and if not I’d do my part to vote them out! Jewish, Christian, Surfer Dude catchin some Gnarly Waves – the reason for the absence makes no difference. It’s inexcusable.

As a result of Congress not passing the measure, many people are faced with financial obligations that have come due; not to mention the others who were already there. For them, waiting another day let alone 3 for the Jewish members to reconvene will result in major financial difficulties – even bankruptcies. It’s easy for Congressmen to be so inconsiderate since their Mega salaries and benefits are crisis-proof . . . but we don’t pay them to be inconsiderate of us. If they cannot serve when needed most, they shouldn’t be Congressmen. We should all remember the ones who either Politicized this crisis (Obama with his relentless commercials, even though he promised not to, and Pelosi), and those who WENT ON VACATION just before an agreement was reached. Lord kinows we can't have ourservants in D.C. missing a day off! Priorities need to be re-established in D.C. and not, "Oh NO! The market needs help.....as soon as we're back from vacation..."

Much as I hate the bailout, if we don't it's going to cost us more in the long run.

Jfore.is like I've said in the past...ever noticed every single one PRESIDENTIAL election is when everything is falling apart; budgets this and that; market, housing, transit...then after election is over IS ALL BACK TO NORMAL......AND YES, IT IS THE DEMOCRAPS THAT ARE MAKING IT OUT TO BE SO ATROCHEOUS.....ONLY BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONES WITH THE HIGH ROLLERS MILLIONS IN STOCK.....they can careless about NORMAL AMERICANS......like you and me and everyone else on these blogs......wow..so some may invest a few thousands THAT'S NOTHING COMPARE TO OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS......ALL THROUGHTOUT THE UNITED STATES THAT PLAY MONOPOLOY WITH OUR MONEY EVERY DAY AT WALL STREET............NO BAIL.............let everyone fend for themselves..........
