Outsourcing the administration

Many people opposed the bail-out of Wall Street firms for a variety of reasons.  They ranged from the objections of government intrusion into the private markets and/or private businesses, to a very real concern about the escalating indebtedness of our country.

And then there were those skeptics or in some cases cynics that don't trust our government at all.  They questioned such things as the necessity for the bail-out and even the trustworthiness of our government to administer it  honestly and correctly.

Of course, many members of Congress were a little shy at first about voting for the bill because of the public outcry just before elections.

 However, as usual enough of them were either bought or otherwise persuaded to support the bill by including enough "pork" to satisfy them.  After all, giving race track owners a break is a far stretch from the stated purpose of the bail-out money.

As to the concerns about our government having the integrity to administer the program correctly, it appears as though all fears can be put aside.  Secretary Palin is strongly considering avoiding any appearance of impropriety on the part of the government by outsourcing the administration of the program.

 To make sure that it is expertly done, he is apparently considering some Wall St. firms to do the job.

So there you have it.........it appears as though some Wall Street firms will be paid your money to pass out your money to other Wall Street firms. 

And best of all, there are no "firm" details about who will get the money or what the necessary qualifications will be.

Isn't it great to live in a nation where you can depend on your elected officials to take care of everything ......including your money?

But hasn't our government been shrinking in size during the past eight years?

One thing great about the increased expenditures, etc. during the past eight years is that they have resulted in a reduction in the number of our problems.

What we seem to have here is a failure to communicate.

My point, though facetiously stated above is that government and the national debt has increased markedly during the past eight years, although a Party line of smaller government, less waste, etc. is espoused by the Republican party.

It seems as though by passing the bail-out package the government is thinking for the people instead of representing their wishes. And to select a Wall Street (financial) firm to administer the bail-out money to other Wall Street financial firms is ludicrous and questionable ethically since Paulson came from Wall Street.

BTW, the Secretary of the Treasury is H. Paulson, not Palin. I must have had Palin on my mind when I wrote the blog. Sorry for the mistake.

The Bush Buddy Budget Busting Bail-Out is just George's payback to a country that hurt his feelings. Look at what he did to Iraq because Sadam put out a contract on his daddy for the Gulf War. Will he end his term in office with a "Shock and Awe" Attack? With the Blackwater mercenary army he and Cheney, Dick have so purposely sent to Iraq to train? Will those Blackwater troops now be re-deployed to Wall Street, where they will toss all BBBB Bail-Out Objectors off buildings in a re-enactment of 1929's Black Monday Crash-Soon to Come, Again? Then, will he land on Air Force One on his Texas ranch, where waves a "Mission Accomplished Banner?" His goal,it seems, is to now achieve the Herbert Hoover-Most Hated President Award? Surely I jest. Here all this time, I thought that he killed Saddam and his sons because they threatened his daughters. I was impressed by the fact that he didn't want any pictures of the caskets of returning American military because he thought that the public was sensitive. But yet he released some pretty graphic photos of the bodies of Saddam's sons.

Blackwater is worthy of at least one or more blogs. I am interested in the future (and past) of private military forces. And especially how they have been used by big businesses without the knowledge of most of the American public.

I view the bail-out as a grouping of golden parachutes for top members of the administration and friends. I hope that they don't forget me and all that I have done for them.

The recession may be here, but certain people will only acknowledge it if and after a Democrat is elected President. Then he will be blamed for the wars, recession, deficit spending, national debt, rising unemployment, trade deficit, etc......probably by his second day in office.

thewaterrat, you make a very good point.....although some are still stuck on Hillary....without a strong "talking point" for them to parrot it is difficult for some to "move on."

It's interesting that Every Republican since Abraham Lincoln has governed in a Depression or Recession: Grant, Hayes, Garfield-Assasinated (Shot), Arthur, Harrison, McKinley-also Assasinated (Shot) all reigned during the Long Depression-from 1868 thru 1896. Taft, Wilson, Harding, Coolidge, Hoover, All set the stage for the Great Depression-1929 thru ~1940. Eisenhower-raped Social Security to Balance the Budget & there was Recession through his whole term. Nixon, Ford, Reagan-The Great Budget-Buster & Moron Moral Majority Messiah ruled over times just like today ... Gas shortages, Union Busting (Air Traffic Controllers, etc), George HW Bush, and now the Bushwackers, Bush/Cheney; Recession Presidents-ALL. The only decent Republicans were Abe Lincoln & Theordore Roosevelt-who both started Repulican Trend of starting a war somewhere upon entering office (I forgive Honest Abe). At least the Democrats were somewhat of a ray of sunshine in History. It has taken the Republicans 69 years to finally get us back to their Ideal Country of Laisee Faire Governance and Corportate Mindless Greed. I wrote something similar in responce to DaytonaFrank Hate and Fear Mongering, but he deleted it. Just as he deleted my reasons for supporting Obama. Seems DaytonaF can't tolerate anyone giving facts or any opinion except his. IMHO Thank You For Your Indulgence

actually Jeok I find it a little strange that all the states that are near bankrupt i.e california, detroit, michigan, New york, all ran by Democrats.....Must be Bush's fault.

Zipphippy, actually John Engler who was a Republican governor was responsible for running Michigan into the ground from which they are trying to dig out under the worst national conditions. Engler also ignored Detroit because of the Black vote being traditionally Democratic and he placed more of the state money in Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Upstate in the lower peninsula. He also rented fantastic State Owned historic houses on Mackinaw Island to his wealthy cronies for as little as a few dollars per year, practically destroyed the public schools, and took away funding for major art institutions such as the Detroit Institute of Arts where he had the guts to hold his inaugural ball after reducing their funding to the point of having to lay off staff and reduce their hours and programs. He ignored the roads and left them dangerous with huge pot holes, etc. No, you are wrong......Engler was the worst thing that has happen to Michigan in decades and he was a Republican all the way.....a real Amway kind of guy.

Gov Arnold Schwarzenegger, Republican; George Pataki, Govenor of New York State from 1/1/1995 to 12/31/2008, a Republican; Govenor John Mathias Engler, a Republican 1991 to 2003, a Republican who Privatize Everything he could; Succeeded by Jennifer Mulhern Grahholm-1st Female Michigan Govenor 1/1/2003, a Democrat, Re-elected 2006; Detroit is a City! So??? What's your point? The Republicans run up Deficits, destroy State Institutions by Privatization and Outsourcing, etc.; Yes, Yes, YES! Bush/Cheney are to blame! Privateers, all. Bust budgets, send jobs overseas, bend over for the Fat Cats! IMHO Thank You For Your Indulgence

LOL! The little tidbit that jeok and other liberal hacks seem to miss...

Deficits are normal, but Democrats througout history have tried to get rid of them by drawing down the Defense budget! Clinton was snatching up 140 BILLION of a 400 Billion annual budget, and reporting it as a reduction, but then tossing it into the general fund! Then operating the military at full strength or in the 90s INCREASED paces, and then not responding to any attacks or threats! We now pay for the INACTION! Just as Roosevelt ignored German attacks in WWII then cut Japan's oil off, while dismantling the military! Pearl Harbor forced America as we couldn't hide attacks any longer, and the Russians had to carry our water for the first year while we retooled!

Hey jeok.. isn't history fun! You cover the EFFECT, and I will take care of the CAUSE OK?

I don't know where you find these CAUSES? Make them up, maybe? Eisenhower used Social Security Funds to Balance the Budget during his term in Office ... A Do Nothing Republican who played Golf while Czechloslovakia, Hungary and Poland were crushed by the Soviets. Ronnie RayGun began all this Budget Busting and Fear Mongering to crush American Unions and discredit and destroy all Main Street Roosevelt New Deal Legislation. He closed all the Mental Hospitals, turning the criminally insane, along with the helpless, out onto the streets and turned an $800 Billion deficit into $3 Trillion. George HW Bush only lasted
one term, because HE was a Liar. Bill Clinton left Georgie Bush a Surplus, which he and Cheney squandered or gave away to his Corporate Cronies through Privatization, etc. Yes, History is Great. Quit reading Fiction or making up stories to thrill the Morons who have such short attention spans thanks of Leave No Child Behind (Actually meaning Leave Them All Behind) What we have Right Now is the Result of Republican Karma...What Comes Around Goes Around in our Government Administration.
