Have you tried to email your member of the U.S. House of Representatives today?  The email function is not available due to an unusually high number of emails and the notice suggests that you write them a letter.

When the people turn up the heat apparently Congress attempts to go into hiding.

Doesn't that help restore your confidence in our elected officials?

How can they possibly expect people to just hand over more than $700 billion to solve a problem, when they are a part of the problem?

Why not? They have spend that same amount on a pointless war. They also have federal banks in Germany, UK that have the authority to make U.S. dollars.

Pointless war? More useless drivel from liberal nuts knowing full well what would happen if we didn't FINALLY engage those who ALREADY were waging war against us....

Special Agentman.. Iraq is less then 1% of our GDP. Guess what else was snuck past committee, with no debate, and a voice vote, to be attached to already voted on legislation by Joe Biden FOR Obama? That would be the Global Poverty Act that calls for HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS (.7% of GDP) up through 2015.

MOST of that money will go to nations in Africa where the seeds of Islam are being set with warlords and dictators starving their own people! The Clinton initiative is also implicated in this and will receive some hefty compensation via back channels overseas, ALL from Taxpayers here!

If your looking for people wasting money and extortion. Just curious if you are willing to cross over the liberal hack line to sound off...

Abunai, you are off-topic again. I didn't see any mention of specific political parties or a mention of liberals or conservatives until you posted......it was truly an attempt to be non-partisan.

You really need to try a little harder to deal with the truth even when it is unpleasant.

You keep hanging you hat on that GDP statistic. Are you using the real one.....GDP per capita or the inflated one that is often used to make things look better?

Regardless, there isn't a good reason for us continuing to spend ridiculous amounts of money to rebuild Iraq, when they have the money to do it themselves. I thought that we were the victors in the war.

But how about the actions of our Congress at this time?

Shadows, people probably are jamming the email routes; I know my wife is; who never emails! I don't want the bailout for the mere reason, they'll be back next year wanting more! I like the one repubs statement of, "It's Wall St's problem, let them fix it!"
I don't think we should spend money rebuilding Iraq, however, we should assist; perhaps as a consultant type role. However, the money we're throwing out for illegal benefits? That dwarfs the money spent on the war, and it really is frustrating that neither candidate wants to take a stance against the flow of illegal mexicans; we'd say a ton of cash.

By the way, Special Agent 008 - above? I believe he's an illegal mexican because he keeps deleting my posts...heck, I argue with you more severly Shadows, yet, he's a deleter!
I think I'll start calling him Special Agent 0.8........ not worthy of 1

The Senate email system is open......I hope that it doesn't mean that people aren't pressuring the Senate, because they are set to vote tonight on a package. It's amazing how they can come up with enticements such as doing away with the AMT and raising FDIC account levels. It makes one wonder why they didn't do it before now? Do they suddenly have more money?

I think that this whole thing smells really strange. If we are now part of a "global economy" why not let everyone on the globe pitch in to save the financial industry and the so-called "American" auto makers? Have the auto makers agreed to move their plants back into the U.S. and out of Mexico and Canada?

Too many opportunities for money laundering are also built into this bail-out. Not that the financial industry would ever be involved in such things.

Oh well shadows.. I welcome you to come into your own post and offer some PERSPECTIVE yourself then.... Define it yourself else be defined.

OK.. take your issue with GDP away, and look at the money figures then.

Global Poverty Act will cost HUNDREDS of BILLIONS and spent OVERSEAS! Yet then Obama complains about overseas spending!

Complains about the war cost (only Democrats do a cost analysis on defense) Yet this bill alone almost matches it!

THE POINT MADE.. is that America is getting upset because the media has informed them that they should be, and when you bring forth other examples where they didnt get upset, you get upset? Sorry buddy.. the Emperior isnt wearing new clothes...

Its only off topic to a closet liberal that simply hates when facts get in the way...

I will also point out... The elected officials you complain about that caused this mess, ignored warnings, blocked legislation, killed in committee any regulations, and flat out refused to listen to warnings from MANY on MANY occassions..... YOU ELECTED THEM! When Democrats knew how corrupt they were, they were RE-ELECTED!

What you could say in this case is the North East Liberals have placed liberal agenda over the rest of the nation, and we should be going to Barney Franks, Schumer, Dodd's districts and DEMANDING answers from those who continue to re-elect them! The first person in ANY of those districts that opens their mouths to complain about the 700 Billion we should walk up to them and SLAP them square in the face and say ITS YOUR VOTE THAT DID IT!

Time to start holding some registered voters accountable!

Abunai, your blog "ownership" issue has little substance. You might want to refresh yourself on the terms of posting on this website, unless your recently purchased it.

I appreciate you giving me credit for electing the all of the "elected officials," but actually I didn't. Believe it or not they are from various states that have an electorate that decides who will be elected and I don't vote in all of the states.

As far as the President, you may have a point about one vote deciding who is elected, but I think that even Bush's margin was a few more than that.

As far as your statement "....the Emperior isnt wearing new clothes," that doesn't seem to be true either. It appears that Bush has been wearing some very nice new suits although his choice of ties is questionable!

As far as holding registered voters accountable, you might also want to think about the large number of people that usually doesn't vote.

Your partisan drivel has little meaning because large spending bills and/or programs have been plentiful since Bush has been in office. Take the recent appropriations bill for hundreds of billions of dollars that includes bail-out money for the auto industry. Bush had said no to such bail-out money, but has apparently changed his mind.

BTW, I would rather spend tax money to help people in poverty than to help firms that have increased the number and size of golden parachutes to CEOs whom have led their firms into failure.

Finally, if you now as a "free market" advocate have decided that government should be involved in private business, that is your prerogative. However, it seems uncharitable for you to condemn the Democrats and liberals who still believe in "free market" and/or capitalist economic theory. Your obvious inclination toward socialism is noted and respected in our free country.

Typical class warfare. Former boss of the stock exchange AND CEO of Home Depot were on yesterday... started with NOTHING! So you libs support them up until they work so hard that they break (under Obama) the $250K threshold, and overnight they become NOT successful, but blood thristy upper income folks that oppress everyone below them and should be punished for their efforts!

The golden chutes you speak to are AGAIN! compensation from a board of directors that VOTED for it after negotiations!

Democrats and free market? LOL! Democrats are doing EVERYTHING they can to turn it into Socialism!! I don't think govt. should be involved at all! Its the LEFT that wants Socialized medicine, schools, energy, workforce, etc!

Finally stuck your head far enough out of the closet to show everyone shadows not only are you the closet liberal, but are trying to re-write history and fact!

Everytime Obama says People making over 250K should pay more BECAUSE THEY CAN AFFORD IT.. he is talking about small business! I pay my employees with all that money that I just can't seem to find any place to put it other than in the govt's hand! NOT!

I suggest you go back and look at Barney Franks, Chris Dodd, Charles Schumer on Fannie/Freddie!

Then maybe look at Charlie Rangle who can't figure out his own tax code. Or Jefferson who destroyed his own district for about 100K in marked bills. The Maxine Waters, and Meeks trying to use Fannie/Freddie for forced reparations?

Think Im just some crybaby Conservative do ya? You hold that thought because the commission to investig

OK Abunai, you now seem to be clarifying your position. You want the government to provide taxpayer money to save fledgling corporations, but you want the government to stay out of the "business" of those corporations.

I guess that that makes sense in a twisted sort of way. Given them the benefits of both socialism and capitalism, but don't call it socialism, call it capitalism.

No wonder you and a few others are still maintaining that our economy is fundamentally sound. All it needs is another trillion dollar or more infusion. The taxpayers remove (buy) the bad debt/mortgages from the financial institutions so that they can seek more (bad debt/mortgages).

You sure do know a lot about the Democratic party.....I'm almost impressed. It does show that you are willing to reach across the aisle to your brethren.

You are aware that there are like a dozen members of congress who have financially ruined at least one business. Just an interesting fact.

I never said I wanted the govt. to save fledgling corportations... Matter of fact, I think they should fall! Wall St. needs to fall, and the nation needs to be paying on actual funds instead of extended credit! The economy is self correcting, up until leaders begin to manipulate it thinking they can stop the natural process, and we end up with the situation we are in because we didn't allow a natural process!

Oh I want to reach across the isle alright... Put my hands around the neck of Barney Franks and Chris Dodd! Call me elite, but we sold a house last year for a loss, but budgeted for it, purchased anohter, with our OWN down payment, and paid off 22K in consumer debt! We did that because we destroyed every credit application that showed up in the mailbox, and closed credit accounts that no longer were accessable anyways! The family car is 6 years old, and instead of getting a new one we just did a few hundred bucks worth of maintainence and took the money that used to be a car payment, and paid off the other debt!

Greed and impatients are NOT in this house, and we do not have an entitlement mentality! So for our reward for NOT being a financial burden on someone else? 700 Billion in bailing out others!

I really enjoy The shadow's blog. WHO LURKS IN THE MINDS OF MEN? THE SHADOW DOES! BTW, I tried calling Congress and 1) "The Number you are calling is not in Service," 2) It just rang, and rang, and rang ..., 3) The line was completely DEAD! What the Problem probably was ... They didn't have enough American Sounding Indian Nationals to man the phones. Try calling any of Florida's Institutions since Jeb Bush farmed out all those lucrative contracts to his buddies, who outsourced them to India. I guess the laid off American workers living on the street and sleeping under overpasses do not want those kinds of jobs-many were laid off from those same jobs. And It'll be More of the Same With McCain. Thank You For Your Indulgence.
