The Republicans and Democrats met for sometime and finally arrived at a tentative agreement  regarding the bail-out.

Leaders on both sides of the isle  confirmed the agreement in front of the cameras on Thursday.

Barney Frank, as one of the people in the meeting said that a satisfactory package had been agreed to and he saw no need for the meeting at the White House later in the day.

In spite of the earlier agreement, the 4PM meeting/photo opportunity was held at the White House complete with the attendance of both Presidential candidates.  The next thing that happened was a number of Republicans suggesting that they would no longer support the previous agreement.

What happened?  McCain arrived in town and suddenly the bi-partisan agreement was scrapped by the Republicans.

The Democrats see this whole thing as political posturing by the Republicans for the sake of McCain's candidacy.  And they have said that they won't bring the agreed upon legislation up for a vote unless it has bi-partisan support.

Is it simply a coincidence that the Republicans suddenly scrapped the package when McCain arrived in Washington?

Are they trying to distance themselves from the Republican administration that called for a bail-out plan?

Why is it so important for McCain to be involved in developing a plan, when he admittedly is a little weak on economic issues?

THIS is an EGREGEOUS and OUTRIGHT LIE..

FIRST of all,,ONLY the DEMOCRATS ever said that there WAS ANY agreement at all..

THERE WAS NEVER A Bi-Partisan Agreement..

Secondly,,

The HOUSE Republicans were NEVER CONSULTED let alone did they EVER make ANY such agreements..
They have said ALL along that they were NOT going to be rushed through this..

There WAS no "suddenly scrapped the package when McCain arrived in Washington" by Republicans..

Hawkeye, here is one of many sources on the web that confirms that a bi-partisan agreement had been reached. Leaders from both parties came out of the meeting Thursday AM and spoke about it on international TV.

You will probably criticize this link/source as you usually do when you are confronted with facts that you don't like. If so, simply "google" the words "Bi-Partisan Bail-out plan" and you will have your choice of several sources.

This is all a ruse by McCain to stall or eliminate the debate and a few of his buddies are helping him. Even the Republican President doesn't seem to have Republican support at this point.

Maybe they should make Palin the arbiter with her wealth of experience and knowledge from having been the Mayor of Wasilla. LOL

The SO-CALLED agreement NEVER made it out of a MEETING..

There IS no agreement where ALL parties are NOT present..There IS no agreement until it is VOTED on..Until THEN,,ALL that it can POSSIBLY be called is a PROPOSITION..

I don't GET my information from websites that reflect OPINIONS..

Hawkeye, that is humorous. "I don't GET my information from websites that reflect OPINIONS."

As I stated there are MANY SOURCES on the WEB that CONFIRM what I said. TAKE YOUR PICK!!

What you probably meant to say is that you don't get your information from sources that won't confirm YOUR BIASES.

BY THE WAY, how did I DO with attempting to use CAPITAL LETTERS like you do? LOL

CynPro, tell me it isn't so! But McCain's interests in oil might explain his support of the oil company subsidies.

All this time I thought that he was just a compassionate person and felt sorry for the struggling oil companies that were trying to locate more oil for the good of our nation. LOL
