The good news is that the bail-out package for the financial industry  will not include the billions requested by the auto industry.

The bad new is that the money requested by automakers  has been hidden in a $630 billion budget request that includes money for the Pentagon as well as health programs for veterans and a lifting of the off shore drilling ban for oil.

When will it all end?  First private businesses send jobs out of the country and lower  real median incomes for American workers.  And now those same businesses come back to get the tax monies that many of the workers have paid as taxes.

Should the Senate and President allow this requested budget legislation to pass?

Whatever happened to the promised "transparency" in government?

Who is going to bail out the American taxpayers, Social Security, etc.?

Who is going to bail out the American taxpayers, Social Security, etc.?

Nobody, and that's exactly the same nobody
who ought to benefit from the bail-out...
NOBODY.

They want to take everything we have paid into the system
and leave average tax payers holding not just the bag,
but an empty bag.

Will retirement benefits be adjusted to cover
higher and higher costs of food, utilities, health care,
transportation, and miscellaneous expenses we
worked all our lives to feel secure that we would
be able to pay our way and take care of our selves
in our twilight years?

No. They want to take all we paid into the system,
and devalue all we spent out lives working to obtain,
just so some ultra-rich guys on Wall Street,
who recklessly played monopoly with our tax payer dollars,
can float around on golden parachutes!

NO NO NO, THIS IS NOT RIGHT. They are THIEVES !!

Oh well here is the thing... I didn't see any seniors give a rat's BLEEP until Social Security came into question, now suddenly they have come forth to opine that the bailout shouldn't happen?

The younger generations have been bailing out S.S. for YEARS, knowing they will NEVER see it for themselves, because previous administration didn't act responsibly! So yea, if we are going to not give bailouts lets just make sure it includes ALL programs that have failed to have leadership do anything for them....

Abunai, you probably didn't see any seniors......because you don't get out enough. You certainly can't be suggesting that all seniors visit you in your home.

As far as SS, the Congress and several administrations have spent the excess SS tax that has been paid into the system. They place the revenues in the general fund that aren't needed for making existing SS payments. Then they spend the SS tax money like they spend all of our other tax dollars.

If Congress had placed ALL SS tax payments into a SS fund that could not be used for anything besides Social Security, the program would be solvent. It is important to realize that the number of baby boomers paying into the system was much larger than the number of SS recipients......so what happened to all of those SS tax dollars that were paid in?

Abunai, how about the fact that GW stated that there would not be any bail-outs for the auto industry and then may allow them to pass hidden in the budget legislation?

You often seem to forget about the issues or topic of blogs. But then again, not too many partisan Republicans seem to want to discuss any facts such as these that are not favorable to their party.

The conservatives object to a $700 billion bail-out package for the banks and other financial institutions, but they aren't objecting to this $630 billion package that contains auto industry bail-out money.

Why is that? Is it because of their "obvious" concern for the taxpayers?
