In his recent Washingtonpost.com article "McCain Loses His Head,"  George F Will, conservative columnist, compared Obama to McCain by stating:

"Unreadiness can be corrected, although perhaps at great cost by experience.  Can a dismaying temperament be fixed?"

The article continues with a scathing review of John McCain's "fact-free slander" and states tha McCain's economic adviser  Douglas Holtz-Eakin was "an impediment to conservatives" during his time with the Congressional Budget Office.

When one of the most notable conservatives of the past century suggests that Obama would be a better choice for President, is there any doubt that anyone voting for John McCain is voting for the party rather than for the best candidate?

The old "best defense is a good offense" tactic or a "change the topic" tactic?

How about dealing with the topic of the blog which is that Conservative Columnist George F. Will denounced McCain and said that Obama would be the better choice for president?

Has George F. Will suddenly become a "whackjob" or a "liberal?" He appears to still be a well respected conservative Republican.

It must be tough to deal with reality when it smacks of everything that you are trying to deny.

Just another columnist being quoted so whats the big deal is his word the rule of thumb because he likes someone else??
George Will has views which are his right as we all have so putting his words as the best choice it is HIS choice so be it thats his peroggative but doesnt make it everyones!!
On what items did he qualify Obama?
It would be a good idea to compare qualifications and proven leadership as to the better candidate.
Obama has never served in a position of leadershiphas he???
His election in Illinois was a fluke he got in because the other candidate couldn't run because of corruption so Obam's mane was put on the ballot without oppositon, thats a poor way to become a presidental candidate!!
The ballot this time has candidates but some others were much better qualified than Obama he stole that position by not having a roll call of states to verify his spot.
Not this time!!!

myfreespeech, instead of dismissing what Will said, perhaps you should read it first. It is more than one article and they are available on line.

You might not respect him, but millions of conservatives have for years. But it is obvious that you are voting for the Party rather than the candidate. That is the type of partisanship that my blog was about. Party first, Nation second. Thanks for providing an example.

McCain's tempermant isn't an issue. We need a president that won't take nonsense from others; Bush was too soft, Obama's paperthin, and spineless so he'll waffle to whatever siutation is presented. Heck, even Hillary had mor backbone and balls than obama! Liberals love to call it "anger," or "temper," when they are confronted with someone that doesn't want to see it their fluffy way...as for the author, his job is to sell papers.

I am an independent Shadow the trouble is only 2 parties available si I chose the better of the lot.
We need to stop this 2 party stuff too many good candidates never got beyond the primaries because of money and party lines.
I cant vote in primaries besause only registered voters can so my freedom is being kept from me by the system it stinks.
If I can vote in a general election as an independent why not in the primaries so we all can chose who we want not the two party system.
Itsa waste of money having the primaries lets have a general election stop all the garbage with the mudslingigng and let the voters chose the candidates period!!!!!

Abunai, you are trying to change the topic again. The blog is about George F. Will denouncing McCain.

TM6068, Your statement: "McCain's temperament isn't an issue." is almost laughable. It indicates that you don't think that temperament is an important characteristic for the person who will be the commander-in-chief.

I thought we were already in China's pocket whenever I shop and look at where things are made almost always made in China.
Tonight's big debate will just be more BS from the guys its the congress and senate that make most of our problems unsolvable.
Greed has taken over our lives as we see tv shows with ways to WIN big.
Lottery etc drain pockets and advertising drives it.
If we could shut down the Media maybe tghen we could look around to see the landscape being cleared for more Malls and houses to add to the already glut we have.
A moritorium on any more building in areas already overbuuilt should be considered.
Sure getting exciting isn't it????

Getting back to the topic of the blog, is voting for a party rather than for a person/candidate a problem in our country? Haven't the people handed over most of the power to political parties by engaging in partisan politics?

The reason that I used George F. Will as an example is that it seems as though he is willing to break party ranks for the welfare of the country......a very exceptional move.
