In one week we have had 2 major chases of bank robbers, my Questions is why does it take 42 cars and 2 choppers on the first one and then 32 cars and 2 choppers on the second chase...It seem to me that not only the citizens of those city's and county's were left unprotected.  This was major overkill and endangered the officers in these chases. It would have looked like the wreck in the BLUES BROTHER MOVIE.. What a waste of resources, where were the supervisors?  What were they thinking??? Makes you wonder how many it took to write the report...What a waste of fuel...

That way they had enough cops to beat the person and the rest to cover it up.
It makes it look like the cops are not capabile of doing anything on their own or in small numbers.

EXCITEMENT, EXCITEMENT, EXCITEMENT! I agree, they probably could have gotten the job done, with the same outcome, if other agencies (City
and State) had been called in to intercept and assist, instead on one agency trying to "run the show" alone.

Because if something had gone wrong, the lawyers in this world would be all on it if law enforcement didn't "DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE" to correct the problem.

Accountability... It could be worse.. we could have held a Los Angeles police parade instead of a chase! Wait until someone starts one of those cali parades with a hybrid! The "chase" might go into days!!

Good point, Abunai. And no doubt, if there were only 1-2 cars/officers involved, some if these same posters would be asking: "Why weren't there more there helping these two"?? And then some dumbass doughnut shop joke would certainly appear...

There is reasonable amount of force for a chase, but to see 42 cars bumper to bumper is a bit much, If there would have been another emergency in Orange county there would have been a long delay, I'm all for Law Enforcemant and catching the scum-bag. Just don't believe that 42 cars were called for or needed. I believe that when you get that many cars in a chase you have a better chance of a big accident & injury to the officers involved.

Well rottweiler7575 then when the guy stops, jumps out with an assault rifle on full auto and a thousand rounds, you will need officers helping other officers.... I did some time in military law enforcement and have been trained, therfore I have a different approach or vision of such events than the typical civilian citizen.

Abunai there are many things that could happen, but more times that none the cops take themselves out...Most cops also have assault rifles, this is really a no win.. I feel that to many cars & officers left the area they should have been in. There could have been a big shot out in town or a million others things could have happened.. Even several officers were on TV and said themselves they worry about wrecking each other out, that there should never have been that many cars involved, I guess it depends on who you ask and who was there...

yep.. it all depends.. either way.. no lawyer on the planet can come in and say they didn't use every asset available to them.

Welcome to the world of a thug's rights taken into account before the victim. Even on a national level we have enemy combatants who because we didn't kill them on the field of battle, now have 4th ammendent rights that are defended by the very people they were trying to kill!!

In the world of law, order, and defense of the American citizen.. we don't try to figure it out.. we just press on.

Yep, thats why I live by 1 Shot 1 Kill

Cuts down on laywers fees and doesn't tie up the court system with appeals either... 50 cents vs $500000

Actually, that only makes the case into a field day for civil lawyers wrongful death suits.

Mscsailor when you live where I do and the average response time for a cop is between 2-4 hours, If you can't protect yourself your screwed. They only respone to Felonies because we live on a private road and NO COUNTY VEHICLES come on it unless its a matter of life or death....As far as wrongful death,I think not..If you don't live here, you have no business here..end of story
