Catholic World News is reporting that a number of Anglicans are waiting on a response from the Vatican in response to returning to the Catholic Church. The Traditional Anglican Communion has a number of locations in Orlando, including in College Park. In the past, the Vatican has allowed Anglican priests and parishes to convert and come over to the faith at the same time and become "Anglican use" parishes with their own liturgies but under the jurisdiction over the local bishop. However, this isn't one church we're talking about, but rather, the article claims some 600,000 people would join the Catholic Church at once. Thus, the logistics becomes a bit more larger to say the least. One option thrown about will be the option of an Apostolic Administration, such was the case a number of years ago when a number of Traditional Catholic priests in Campos, Brazil (the history of these priests is great and quite tragic, even in modern times, but that is something for later).

Liturgy wise, no one knows for sure what will happen if the TAC comes to the Catholic faith. However, a number of Catholics have hoped that a revival of the Sarum Missal (click here for the first part of a Sarum Candlemas as offered by Catholic priests) will take place as a result of these conversions.

On July 1, 2008 at 8 AM Orlando time, EWTN will air a Traditional Latin Mass live from the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament at Our Lady of the Angels Monastery in Hancerville, Alabama. The priest offering Mass will be Fr. Jared McCambridge, who was one of the priests ordained a few weeks ago that I mentioned in my previous blog post.

Locally, Catholics are deprived for a regular Latin Mass. At the diocesean level, there is a weekly Latin Mass in Sanford at the old All Souls Catholic Church. In addition, there is a Latin Mass said by Fr. Fryar, a priest that belongs to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, just like Fr. McCambridge every other Sunday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala. Fr. Leon Dobosiewicz, a recently named monsignor, also says the Latin Mass frequently. However, according to reports, his Sunday Latin Mass in Winter Haven was cencelled, much to the delight of the pastor in Ft. Myers. Thus, of a diocese of so many parishes, we only see about 1.5 "advertised" Latin Mass per week. The Society of St. Pius X, a group not affiliated with the Orlando diocese (but do pray for the Holy Father and Bishop Thomas in the Canon) offers Mass each First Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Sanford at St. Thomas More Chapel.

However, the 1.5  diocean Latin Masses is totally against the will of the Holy Father, who desires that this ancient rite be offered at all parishes once on Sunday and become part of the every day spiritual life of the Catholic Church.
