Check this out. I enjoy watching the polls, but do not take them to heart. This poll was done well.

Obama, McCain close in Florida; Martinez vulnerable

Raleigh, N.C. –

to the newest survey from Public Policy Polling.

It’s a marked improvement from PPP’s last Florida poll, taken in March at the heart of

the Jeremiah Wright controversy, which showed him trailing 50-39.

Party unification is the key to Obama’s improved standing in the state. At that time he

was getting the support of only 60% of self identified Democrats. In this survey he’s

polling at 74% with them, and also leading 45-33 among independent voters.

PPP surveys over the last two weeks have shown Obama with leads in the swing states of

Ohio, Virginia, Michigan, and now Florida.

“It’s a long way until November, but Barack Obama would be looking at an Electoral

College landslide if the election was today,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public

Policy Polling. “Our polls in Florida and Michigan over the last two weeks have also

served as confirmation that controversy over the seating of the two states’ delegations at

the convention is not causing the Democratic Party any long term issues.”

PPP also took a look ahead to the 2010 Senate election and found that Mel Martinez is

quite vulnerable. His approval rating is only 23%, with 43% of the state’s voters

disapproving of his performance.

In a possible contest against the state’s Chief Financial Office, Alex Sink, Martinez trails

37-31. Against Congressman Robert Wexler, it would be a 33-33 draw.

PPP surveyed 723 likely voters from June 26

3.6%. Other factors, such as refusal to be interviewed and weighting, may introduce

additional error that is more difficult to quantify.

Complete results are attached and can be found at www.publicpolicypolling.com.

“ weighting” may introduce errors... The boy does not even have 70% of the black vote let alone the total vote....LOL

I cannot understand how intellegent people could even think of putting this liar in office. Far too many flip/flops for me. Now, he is kissing up to slick willy for help. Now there's another loser.
People, please think with your head and do a little research before you vote against the country as we now know it.

There is a long way to go. The polls today mean nothing.

Obama WILL have to debate McCain sooner or later, and McCain will eat him alive.

The only poll that really matters is the vote in November. I predict a McCain landslide.

BTW plum, I love the new avatar!

Stroke, The Dems will suppress the military vote, as they have done in the last two elections.

It didn't matter the last two times, and it will NOT matter this time.

There is NO WAY Obama will be elected, and all the polls in the world will not convince me that he even has a chance.

You guys are in for a big surprise, because 60% of the population uses cell phones which are not surveyed. Almost all of Obama’s young supporters use cell phones, and that means that polling is outdated and numbers are much different now. With the idea that many Obama supporters are not surveyed, I’d say McCain is in big trouble.

I don't think these polls are too far off the truth. The republicans, in the overall sence, do not have a good relationship with a majority of the public. I was over in Daytona today and even some NASCAR fans are turning.

Thanks Daytona Frank! Thought I'd go with a local legend and a hero of mine!

Obama's young supporters are too busy with their I-pods, cell phones, etc to bother to vote. I wouldn't count on them election day if I was No-bama.

The Polls don't close until 7PM, and that's plenty enough time for young, unemployed, hope depressed, future soldiers to get out and vote. McCain's/ Republican demographics have changed in Florida primarily due to GWB, but in part by Charlie Crist, because people are getting wise to old Charlie boy.

No one will vote for Obama. The young crowd may be into thier electronic gadgets, but if they cannot actually vote through these gadgets they will not vote!

It would mean going through the hassle of registering to vote!

And the WAY bigger hassle of actually having to show up in person to vote!

McCain landslide all the way.

Obama has no chance.

Obama is great! Anyone with a brain will see he is very intelligent, the best man for the job! Young and old alike (with brains) will vote for him. McCain is old and washed up, has NO new ideas! What this country needs is CHANGE big time! If you want our country to go down the drain like it is now (thanks to W. Bush), then vote for McCain, if you have any brains at all, you will vote for Obama! He will be a great president and we will have some intelligence in the white house for a change.

I was Born in Burlington Iowa in Feb of 1986. I moved to Florida in 1992 and have been in the same town sence. I graduated from Pine Ridge High School in 2004. In High School, I found two passions. I fell in love with TV. Not, just the TV, but the idea to be on and make TV. I want to be a director. I go to the University of Central Florida. My other love that I came across at Pine Ridge High School is my future wife, Elizabeth. She is the sun in my day and the moon in my night. She is my best friend and the only woman on Earth that I ever want to be with. I grew up a NASCAR fan and it started two months after I was born when future NASCAR star Ernie Irvan was holding me at a local dirt track. The drivers I follow now are Jeremy Mayfield, Denny Hamlin, David Ragan, Jeff Burton, Tony Stewart, Casey Mears, Scott Riggs, Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Bobby Labonte, Clint Bowyer, Kurt Busch, Juan Pablo Montoya, Dave Blaney, Jamie McMurry, Scott Wimmer, Reed Sorenson, and A.J Allmindinger. I Think Dale Earnhardt Jr. is over rated. And I know Jeff Gordon isn't a fan friendly driver. My heros are Richard Petty, Ryan Cooper (The firefighter who ran into the Sanford houses in 2007) and Fireball Roberts. I also fell into the typical sports like football and baseball. I root for the Tampa Bay Bucs for the NFL season and for MLB I follow the Boston Red Sox. I Currently work at Lowe's in Orange City and love my job there as a Outside power equipment Associate. I'm treated well and the job is nice and relaxing. I plan on getting married really soon to Elizabeth. We set a date for March 6th 2010!!!!!
