Harry Truman

When President Truman retired from office in 1952, his income was substantially a U.S. Army pension, $13,507.72 a year.

 

Congress, noting that he was paying for his stamps and personally licking them, granted him an allowance and, later, a retroactive pension of $25,000 per year.

When offered corporate positions at large salaries, he declined, stating, 'You don't want me. You want the office of the president, and that doesn't belong to me. It belongs to the American people and it's not for sale.'

On May 6, 1971, when Congress was preparing to award him the Medal of Honor on his 87th birthday, he refused to accept it, writing, 'I don't consider that I have done anything which should be the reason for any award, Congressional or otherwise.'

Today, many in Congress, Democrats and Republ icans alike, have found a way to become quite wealthy while enjoying the fruits of their offices. Political offices are now clearly for sale.

Was good old Harry Truman correct when he observed,  

' My choice early in life was either to be a piano player in a whorehouse or a politician. And to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference anymore. I, for one, believe the piano player to be much more honorable than most politicians.'

 

 The picture didn't come thru but he was well known as  a true American.

SOME ARE CRIMINALS WHO ESCAPE FROM THEIR COUNTRY AND CAME HERE AND DONE BAD THING, SO,WHAT? AMERICAN CRIMINALS HAVE ESCAPE TO OTHER AND DONE BAD THINGS THERE TOO. IF U DONT BELIVE ME TAKE A TRIP TO MEXICO, COLOMBIA OR BRAZIL AND YOU WILL BE SURPRISE OF HOW MANY AMERICANS LIVE IN THOSE COUNTRIES AND HOW MANY AMERICAN CRIMINALS THEY HAVE CAPTURE.

Never heard if your country lots of crimanils there however guess you escaped!!
You ure are an Obama follower and believe the garbage he tells you and knows he wont be able to produce.
I dont know where you figured your comment fit in on this blog has NOTHING to do with a true american president!!!!!!!

Concerned person who feels like expressing my opinion while I still can. I have been in Florida since 1973 when things were less hectic crime was not a problem. I enjoy writing to the editor,emailing to higher ups when things seem out of control like the current crime wave. I believe in free speech and it seems people are letting that slip away as they are told what to say at certain seasonal times. I think our media is our biggest threat using their liberal viewpoints and if wrong they are not responsible for errors I cant understand the Supreme's courts power we do not elect this group but we are at their mercy if you can call it that on issues that have an effect how we behave. People in power we dont electt that are backed by special interst groups or maybe some appointments are not acceptable to certain parties and therefore some well qualified individuals never get the appoiintment. The supreme court opens their sessions with a prayer and the ten commandments are on their very building. When will the media think before addressing dangerous things that are picked up by the media and sort of become a fad for copycats like the Campus massacares occurring senselessly. I have raised 5 sons and one daughetr 4 of my sons were in the military submariners. Enjoy this site lots of controversy and also informative!!
