Well here we are time for a great new season.. Mark your calenders hockey fans we get the lightning and the rangers in Prague. Then the Detroit home season opener October 9th: The leafs at Joe Louis arena with an appearance from Def Leppard  and the raising of the Stanley Cup championship banner  it's only on Versus and CBC (center ice picks up some of the CBC stuff so don't forget your subscription :P)..

I think it could be a pretty good season with the revised schedules and all the movement around the league..

Okay, here's the deal: I LOVE HOCKEY! But it scorches my little fanny to have to watch it on T.V. I spent 3 1/2 years living in both Vermont and New Hampshire, while my Dad was teaching at the boarding school my brothers were going to in Saxtons River, VT. They both played hockey, and I never missed a single one of their games. We were going to NHL games, every chance we had. One of my brothers lives in White Plains, N.Y. and belongs to a Men's League that "Scrimmages" with the Flyers in a "Limited Checking Series; it's mostly just for fun. I'm hooked but SPOILED!
There is NOTHING like sitting behind YOUR team, or behind the "penalty box," and getting sprayed with ice from a fracas that breaks out, right in front of you! There used to be an Orlando "Mens League" that a guy I dated years ago played on. They used to play at the "Ice Palace," I have no idea if IT or THEY still exist. It looks like the closest live NHL game around here will be in Tampa, what a rip off!

Yep they still have rec league there.. It's USA on ice Now . I love the place it has that real nice small town oriented rink atmosphere.. It's really just the people that go there ;)

I'm with you I'd rather watch a live game, but the numbers have been dwindling here, this next season all we have is Naples in the east coast league.. It's actually a fun league to watch, but Naples is to far away... I'd drive to sunrise before I watched the lighting play and fail :P ...

Yeah, the people, the groups that gathered to watch and play were what made it so much fun. "We" used to play some away games in Tampa too.
