ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) A lake in downtown Orlando will soon be home to every kind of swan, after new shipments of the regal birds arrive.
Lake Eola Park has long been home to mute and black swans. Now city leaders and a nonprofit group that provides veterinary care for the birds plan to import representatives of all swan species.
The first swans in that project, a pair of whooper swans, are expected to arrive by jet in Orlando on Wednesday afternoon.
Black-neck swans from South America, Coscoroba swans, trumpeter swans, the tundra swan from the Arctic and the Bewick's swan also will represented on Lake Eola by the fall. The birds' wings will be clipped to keep them in the park.
Park officials hope the plan will attract more birdwatchers to visit the city and Lake Eola.| Member Comments | Total Comments: 7 |
