I agree, I think they should have a $100 Billion check in the mail for all SS recepients. Just heard on Fox Business that most GOP experts think the $145 Billion Bush Stimulus is too low.

With a $10 Trillion Dollar economy that is low. You cant help the poor since they arent paying any taxes either and the checks Bush wants to send dont include incomes over $75,000 which is good. Those people paying more should get business tax relief.

I just pray that the next PResident Totally clean up the estimated $300 Billion in Govt waste.

Tell the seniors to stop voting for the candidates that have ridiculous foreign spending plans then.

H.R. 191 to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the inclusion in gross income of Social Security benefits.
HJ Res. 23 to encourage savings over consumption
H.R. 192 to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the 1993 increase in taxes on Social Security benefits.
SS a tool for politicians:

Oh Please! Seniors already get the lion's share of tax breaks on Property Taxes and other benefits! I'm so tired of hearing how the seniors deserve things becaue of their age! I am retired too, have disability, a fixed income, and medications I have to purchase! Only difference is I'm not in my mid 60s!

Seniors have had lots of time before me to prevent or correct problems with S.S and other programs but procrastinated! Now I am supposed to be punished for THEIR inaction? My children must go on the back burner too? Seniors (post WWII) dropped the ball in their future long ago, and seem fine with holding everyone else accountable in this world but themselves! Hey Grandma and Grandpa.. Tell you grandchildren why it is again that we can't afford to put more money in their 529s? Grandpa smoked for 50 years and now gets a free scooter? No little Johnny, actually YOU and I paid for that scooter...

Seniors are too undependable to give money to. Politicians can't depend on their votes because they might die before election time.....all of that money and for what purpose.....burial expenses?

People are forced to put money into social security as long as they work. That money is not to fund the federal government. It is not for them to spend. Seniors pay into it all their lives and there's no reason for the money not to be there when they are eligible. There is also no reason the federal government should tax their social security as income.

If this continues, there will be many of us who pay into social security and will never see that money again.

If you're 65, sit down and figure out how much money you and your employer contributed to SS if you retire now you have to live to be 92 to get that money back. SS system is going broke because the federal government has been stealing that money for 35 yrs. and using it to pay for their wars and tax breaks for the wealthy and business and refuse to pay it back. The stimulus package is a joke, the only purpose of the stimulus pkg. is to support the stock market. Abunia, how old are you and are you on SS Disability? There are some seniors who don't make enough to even buy regular food they hve to eat dog food so don't tell me that seniors don't deserve part of the stimulus pkg. And another thing, the 154 billion that Mr Bush is giving back to the well off people has to be borrowed from China.

Twerpster.. First your talking point on funding wars and high income tax breaks is ridiculous and illustrates a typical liberal style talking point.

I am 45, retired from military service at 38 and had 40%disability that was dropped to 30% right about the same time Concurrent Receipt was authorized for only those with 40% or better! So My pension is reduced by the amount of my disability instead of receiving both. Had I been disabled while working for ANY other Branch of Federal govt. I would get both! Defense Dept is the ONLY branch that gets taken like this! Not to mention that my Social Security credits during military service are only worth about half what a civilian counterpart gets.

The 154 Billion you speak of my friend is about one year of the amount of funding Democrats skimmed off the top of defense budgets! Clinton was skimming 140 Billion a year off of the military over 10 years ago while requiring them to actually work harder and longer! At this point (10 years later) Congress owes the military 1 Trillion, 400 Billion in back pay alone!!

Just for some perspective Twerpster...

(MY FRIEND),I wasn't speaking about the military but about SS and the fairness of the system. For example, Charlie Brown makes $97,000 a year and he pays $7,275.00 SS Tax, Bill Gates makes $200 million a year and he pays $7,275.00 a year Tax, when they boith retire they will both get the same monthly amount, is this fair?

If I made 200 million a year I'd be happy to pay the whole thing.

People at all levels have budgets. Just because you think someone makes millions does not mean they have cash to burn! Thats just simply ridiculous.

If I made 200 Million a year, folks would never even ask me what I make that on, and how many people I employ and their families that I support!

Just like complaints on the Billions on "big oil" yet NOBODY can tell you what percentage of a profit margin it really is.. (less than 8% BTW) Google and Yahoo for example had profit margins over 25%!! Buy where is the cry for "Big Internet?"

Its such a liberal notion that "Rich folks" just have money to burn! CEOs make too much money, yet when a company tanks, I don't see any candle light vigil for them.....

Who REALLY is the shelfish one?
