After income taxes came I bought what I THOUGHT was a reliable mini van to haul all these kids around in. This van was brought to my attention by the seller who happened to know that we were in need of a larger vehicle for the family. This seller was in fact a long time business associate of my husband. This seller  was Jim Horine, owner of Remanufactured Transmission and H&H Auto and Truck Sales, and yes I did buy this van from his place of business and not as a private sale.
Well, MY VAN DIDN'T LAST AN OIL CHANGE BEFORE THE REBUILT TRANSMISSION (UNDER WARRANTY) EXPLODED! And it gets better than that.....
When I drove the van off of the lot of Remanufactured Transmission and H&H Auto and Truck Sales, located at 2700 S Orange Ave. in Orlando, I hadn't even gotten but a few miles down the road when the van started to over heat. So, I brought  the van right back and talked to Jim Horine personally. Mr. Horine guaranteed me that he would personally go over the van with a fine toothed comb and make sure "EVERY THING" was right with the van and that if he could not make it right he would give me my money back.
The following day i get a call from one of the "shop guys" who informs me that the van is ready to be picked up and that it's running "perfectly". The guy tells me that there was a radiator hose that had not been reconnected when they put in the rebuilt transmission. So, I go pick up the van and it seems to be running fine with no over heating, until....
Two weeks later the van is over heating again. So, I take the van to a mechanic who tells me that I need an intake gasket and that there is FRESH STOP LEAK in my system and it is making things worse. I tried to call Mr. Horine several times and NONE of my calls were returned. Then not even six weeks into this van and the transmission explodes and again Mr. Horine will not return my calls.
I get the van towed to the shop and the "shop guy" calls me and tells me that 3 of my spark plug wires aren't even connected and the other 3 wires are all mixed up. OK SO NOW THIS IDIOT THINKS THAT JUST BECAUSE I'M FEMALE I'M STUPID AND DON'T KNOW THAT THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!  In case yo didn't know, the van wouldn't have even started if that were the case!!!!!!!!!!  And yet I was driving it down the road when the transmission blew. DUH!!!!! And, of course they have no idea how stop leak got in my system and they have no idea why it didn't over heat for that short 2 weeks. Yeah my butt!!!
Remanufactured Transmission and H&H Auto and Truck Sales has offices located in Orlando, Clermont and St. Cloud. They also use the names  Lake County Transmissions, Inc.Main Street Transmissions, Inc.
Orange Avenue Transmissions, Inc.
Similar complaints have been filed with the BBB about this company.
The slogan on the business card for their auto sales is "Where you get service after the sale!"
The service I received after the sale was NONE! They dumped stop leak in my cooling system then lied about it as a part of their service!
There are also various bolts that are loose and/or missing after they installed the transmission that they rebuilt, that blew up with less than 3000 miles on it. Not to mention the radiator hose that was not connected was also the WRONG PART and it was BENT so that little to no coolant could pass through it.
BE AWARE!!!!! THIS IS A BAD COMPANY NO MATTER THE NAME!!!!!! THEY DO SHOTTY WORK AND DON'T STAND BY THEIR WORK OR WARRANTY!!!!!!

Sounds like you had sucker printed on your forehead.. When you buy a vehicle from a car lot you have a 30 days to return it if its a lemon. If you must buy from a repair shop get the vin # and do a car fax report..

Sounds like you got the deal of a life time! Good luck with the repairs.. Find a reputable shop and have them work on it, get it repaired and you'll have a good vehicle.

You have to spend money to get a good vehicle. Sorry to hear about your troubles, tell Tom Sussi maybe he can help.

Funny how some men think all women have no knowledge on how a vehicle functions.

Thanks for giving the people a heads up on this business. Sad they can't even stand up and do the right thing, and honor their warranty.

When a company uses many different names, it's a good sign that something is wrong.

I thought the lemon law was only good for three days.

Unfortunately I discovered after the fact how many names this company goes by. I also demanded a full refund on the spot and was refused. When I tried to check into the laws it is not real clear. Lemon laws here only apply to new cars just to start with.

However, I was seriously wronged here and this situation needs to be resolved. I fully expect that the correct repairs be made at no cost to me and that all parts and labor have full warranty protection. any help would be greatly appreciated and I would love to have Tom on my side.

Breaking down with 3 babies in the van was not exactly a good time either. LOL!

Wow, cat, I thought the lemon law was good on all car sells. Learn something new everyday.

Well good luck!!! You will probably need it, thanks to the POS's you are apparently dealing with.

The "Lemon law" only applies to new cars, and the deal is they have three chances to fix your problem, if it isn't fixed after the third time it falls under the lemon law, and I am thinking you get another new car out of the deal. And just so that you know, I have heard of new cars being literally dropped off of the delivery trucks, so it is just as important to have a mechanic look at your potential new car as it is to have them look at a potential new used one.

What kind of warranty did you get with your purchase? If you bought it "as is" you are done, and need to start looking for a reputable mechanic.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS have your trusted mechanic look at your potential purchase, it might cost you $40 or so, but in the end it can save you a lot headache!

File a complaint with the BBB. Try to contact Tom Sussi here and tell him your story, you have been taken for a ride and with three small children I am sure you can not afford to just flush that money down the toilet. Talk to a lawyer if you can find one with a free consultation to find out if you have a leg to stand on legally, and if you do, I think I might have to pursue it, after all any legal costs can be recouped.

By the way cat? Car dealers hate to see me come in because I tear them apart! I know if they are going to let me walk over a full tank of gas, then I have the price where I want it! I also don't talk payments, I talk price! And if they try to treat me like a stupid woman, I tell them so, and then walk out and take my business elsewhere.

I hate used car salesmen and I only bought from this place because my other half knows the owner and has for years. I did get a good price for the vehicle, had the vehicle actually been in the condition the guy said it was in after I brought it back to him the first time.

I have filed with the BBB. I'm not sure that will get me any where though.

Thanks Brenda~

Thats why when you buy a used car its AS IS.
Any used car I buy I do a carfax check on. after all the Katrina cars floded the market. (no pun intended).

What did you pay for the van? What make and model is it?

Reason I ask is most not all, fwd mini vans aquire tranny problems after 150k. At least the ones I have seen..

Filing a complaint with the BBB will show others that a complaint was filed if they check. Get a hold of Tom Sussi, and explain the situation and see what he says....

The transmission was rebuilt when i bought it and under a 12/12 warranty. The owner also personally guaranteed the vehicle would be "right" (his words) or he would give me a full refund before the stop leak was added to my cooling system.

I have already researched the vehicle history and mechanical issues. This problem lies with the seller.

How long have you had the van? still with in the 12/12? If so you could take them to civil court and sue. Then I would go to APEX transmissions in longwood and have them fix your ride.. They have always treated me right.

I remember getting a tranny rebuilt by Dun-rite transmissions, what a joke! it was never right again. They went out of business..

Aamco is a bit more expensive than these so called bargin shops, but well worth it, better warranty and much better service, that is the only place other than the dealer to get Trans work done, in my opinion

Was that 12 months/12,000 miles? Or 12 feet/12 minutes?

Seriously, if they gave you 12/12 I would be in there raising hell in front of any of their perspective customers! They would have to fix the van or give me my money back to shut me up! And I am not so sure that I would want them to fix it at this point! I would seek the advice of an attorney.

Thats it sue their pants off... Take all copies of your purchase agreement to an attorney, then let the attorney bend the guy over the barrel and give it to him good. (cant go into more detail or would offend the gay men on this board.. ;o)

Well, these slime balls at Remanufactured Transmission are now trying to tell me that it's not my transmission that blew up. Even though I heard it, felt it and smelled the burning transmission fluid, even saw the burnt fluid. Now they say it's the caddillatic converter and they don't work on those. What a crock of BS! Once again they think that just because I'm female I won't know the dif.

I sure wish i could afford an attorney but i spent all my money on this stupid van. LOL!

At any rate, you bet i have been raising a big stink, and I see I'm going to have to raise a even bigger stink. There should be better laws but in place that protect the consumer better.

I usually do not take my vehicles to a repair shop just for this reason. My vehicles get fixed right in my drive way by my own personal ASE certified mechanic.

LOL@north

The van started slipping out of gear while I was driving it then there was a big clunking and grinding noise, the RPM's went way up then there was the smell of burning tranny fluid and the van would not go. I pulled the dip stick on the tranny and the oil, oil was fine tranny fluid was not. That simple folks. I'm not an idiot and have enough mechanical knowledge to know what burnt tranny fluid looks like and smells like. Actually I have enough mechanical knowledge to build a Harley from the ground up and then some. Cars aren't much different, a compression engine is still a compression engine weather it's water cooled or air cooled, weather it has 2 cylinders or 6. So spare me your holier than thou attitude that there is "another side" to this story. Msc and signal if you two think you are so damn smart then how about the two of you show me your ASE certificate and come fix this POS. When I rod out those converters I bet dollar to dog nuts the tranny is still shot and there is still stop leak in my cooling system.

I would agree, there are 2 stories, the lying mechanics and the transmission. The faulty transmission is telling a story of how it failed. The lying mechanic is trying to place it on several things, from plug wires to a bad catalytic converter. He can't even make up his mind on what to lie about. LOL

The vehicle of this discussion is a 1999 Pontiac Montana. The van was at one of my repair shops for 9 months being stored because the original owner authorized repairs to the transmission and never paid the bill. A mechanics lien was applied the the van and my company received the title. The man who bought the van from my company is the husband of catspajamas. I've known her husband for about a year. He called me and asked if we had any mini-vans for sale. I said the van had reasonable mileage (103,000), not bad for a 1999 model. I said the van had nice red paint, original. I told him it had two dents in the left rear door, about four inches across. I told him the interior was in need of thorough shampooing/ detailing. He asked what the price was and I told him I was going to road test it, have my detailer spend time to make it presentable, and I was going to park it out front advertised at $2900.00. I told him I would give him a better price for about $25-2600. He asked if I would take $200 more off the price if he detailed the van himself. I replied the interior was stained and pretty nasty. He still insisted he could get it clean so we settled at $2400.00 with him detailing the inside. Keep in mind that all this was discussed over the phone. He said he would take it. I asked him if he was sure, because my assistant had set appointments to show the van. He asked me to make sure the van was reserved for him. In the past I have gotten burned by the "Be-Backs"... I'm sure you can guess who they are. They commit to you and it falls through. My lot sells
