Happy Independence Day everyone. I hope you're having a great holiday weekend. I am proud to be an American, like you are. I think today is a good time to ask what can each of us do to make America better?
What will you do in the next year to make America better so our children will still be proud of the country we leave them? Blog it here.

There are several sources on the web (google) reporting a soon to be released report from the
World Bank regarding the cost relationship of food prices and the use
of products such as corn in the production of biofuels.
http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5gz6DCk0CcH1N8kQ8Hyz
pUVx7kz2A
The following statements are found in the article on the above link as well as others today.
"Biofuels have caused world food prices to increase by 75 percent,
according to the findings of an unpublished World Bank report published
in The Guardian newspaper on Friday."
"...a senior World Bank economist assessed that contrary to claims by US President George W. Bush, increased demand from India and China has not been the cause of rising food prices."
The cost increase of using corn to produce ethanol as a gasoline additive is said to be closer to 75 percent rather than the 3 or 4 percent cited by our government.
Are you willing to continue to see soaring food prices and reduced gas mileage in order to keep adding corn based ethanol to our gasoline, or should the President roll back his ethanol mandates?

Hello ,
Here are three words that your political buddies and the news media cannot Broadcast.
BACK YARD ETHANOL. First it is under Federal law to produce. Second it is a renewable resource. Third the landfills do not need all of the excesss material to fire the fire boxes in your back yard that make ethanol. Fourth you do not need wheat and corn to produce ethanol. Brazil uses sugar beets. Brazil has been off oil dependence since 1979. Cars can run on ethanol. Ethanol does not destroy the atmosphere. you can make ETHANOL with WATER,SUGAR and YEAST
Lets get the stills working in our back yards and reduce the price of gas to .99 cents a gallon.
Pass the word to everyone you know and why wait for oil!
Sincerely,
BobTonk

Jesse Helms passed away today on the 4th of July.
We could use 435 people like him to serve as Representatives and a 100 more to serve as Senators. The left despised him because of the true conservative he was. He was outspoken on the gay issues and some called him a narrow minded bigot. He served on his principles and if the left can hold T. Kennedy in high regards then we on the right can hold up J. Helms for our side. So be it.

I have noticed a couple of posts on here making comparisons between the recent disasters in Middle-America with that of Katrina..While the comparisons are valid the FIRST thing that came to MY mind was how uneceesary it was to go THAT far..WHY bother when the SAME comparisons can be made using Katrina ALONE..We SEEM to have TWO Katrionas anyway so WHY not use THEM???
The Katrina as a whole and the Katrina of a VERY FEW in the city of New Orleans..
Below is what I MEAN by this…
Hurricane Katrina
It was the sixth-strongest Atlantic Hurricane ever recorded and the third-strongest hurricane on record that made landfall in the United States.
Hurricane Katrina weakened as it moved inland, but tropical-storm force gusts were recorded as far north as Fort Campbell,, Kentucky on August 30,, and the winds damaged trees in New York..The remnants of the storm brought high levels of rainfall to a wide swath of the Eastern United States and rain in excess of 2 inches fell in parts of 20 states.. A number of tornadoes associated with Katrina formed on August 30 and August 31 which caused minor damages in several regions. In total, 62 tornadoes formed in EIGHT states as a result of Katrina… The remnants of Katrina were absorbed by a new cyclone to it’s east across Pennsylvania.. This second cyclone continued north and affected Canada on August 31... In Ontario there were a few isolated reports of rain in excess of 4 inches and there were a few reports of damage from fallen trees.. FLOODING also occurred both in Ontario and Quebec,, cutting off a number of isolated villages in Quebec, particularly in the Cote-Nord region.
Although Hurricane Katrina made it’s ULTIMATE landfall well to the west,, Alabama and the Florida Pamhandle were both affected by tropical-storm force winds and a storm surge varying from 12 to 16 ft. around Mobile Bay with higher waves on top.. Sustained winds of 67 mph were recorded in Mobile,, Alabama,, and the storm surge there was approximately 12 feet.. The surge caused significant FLOODING several miles inland along Mobile Bay..Four tornadoes were also reported in Alabama.. Ships,, oil rigs,, boats and fishing piers were ALL washed ashore along Mobile Bay: the cargo ship M/V Caribbean Clipper and many fishing boats were grounded at Bayou La Batre..
Hurricane Katrina FIRST made landfall on April 25,, 2005 in SOUTH FLORIDA where it hit as a Category 1 hurricane,, with 80 mph winds.. Rainfall was heavy in places and exceeded 14 inches in Homestead Florida and a Storm Surge of 3 – 5 feet was measured in parts of Monroe County.. More than 1 million customers were left without electricity, and damage in Florida was estimated at between 1 and 2 billion dollars, with most of the damage coming from FLOODING and overturned trees. There were 14 FATALITIES reported in Florida as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
Katrina then caused severe destruction across the entire Mississippi Gulf coast and into Alabama,, as far as 100 miles from the storm's center as it FINALLY came ashore at the Louisiana/Mississippi state line..
The STORM SURGE and subsequent FLOODING caused severe damage along the Gulf Coast, DEVASTATING the Mississippi cities of Waveland,, Bay St. Louis,, Pass Christian,, Long Beach,, Gulfport,, Biloxi,, D’Iberville,, Ocean Springs,, Gautier,, Moss Point and Pasgagoula…
At least 1,836 people lost their lives in Hurricane Katrina and in the subsequent FLOODS,, making it the deadliest U.S. hurricane since the 1928 Okeechobee Hurricane..
The storm is estimated to have been responsible for $81.2 billion (2005 U.S. Dollars) in damage, making it the costliest natural disaster in U.S.History..
In Contrast, Levee breaches,, MORE so then the Hurricane itself,, in New Orleans caused a Considerable loss of life but by FAR Not the MAJORITY of the lives lost.... OF the 1836 total dead as a result of the Hurricane,, 700 bodies were recovered in New Orleans.. Slightly more than HALF of the bodies were found in the city’s poorer neighborhoods, with the REMAINDER scattered throughout middle-class and even some richer districts…So,, OF the Total killed by Katrina,, ONLY a little more then 350 of them can PRESUMABLY,, but NOT Necessarrilly,, be identified as Poor Blacks from the now INFAMOUS section Known as the 9th Ward..
A little more then 350 out of 700 IN new Orleans and 1836 TOTAL dead as a result of Katrina and it’s effects..
YET,, when you ask the average person,,"What do YOU think of when you hear the name,, Ketrina??" the Image MOST likely to come to MOST minds is that of the Flooding of New Orleans,, MOSTLY in the Black Sections ONLY,, the some 10,000 ESTIMATED refugees at the Superdome of which only SIX Died by NON-KATRINA-DIRECTLY RELATED causes or of those at the Convention Center, where ONLY four bodies were recovered. ALL were from "Natural Causes" except ONE..That ONE is believed to be the result of a homicide..
( a SUICIDE by OVERDOSE )
ALL this out of a New Orleans population estimated to be in excess of 750,000 residents of which MOST evacuated when THEY WERE TOLD TO.... ( Bear in mind that New Orleans was more then 50% Black Prior to Katrina so apparently there were appoximately some 350,000 Blacks who SOMEHOW managed to evacuate too)..
SO,, I ASK again..WHY is Hurricane KATRINA Most commonly known as a New Orleans’s BLACK-ONLY Catastrophy???
In MY opinion this is the case because of a RACIST,, EXPLOITIVE and SENSATIONALIZED News Coverage by an MSM that was SHAMELESS in it’s POLITICAL MOTIVATION…
The SAME MSM that,, without the SLIGHTEST evidence to back up it's claim,, reported some 10,000 dead bodies floating IN New Orleans..
The SAME MSM that IGNORED and/or DOWNPLAYED the responsibility and FAILURE of LOCAL DEMOCRAT Governments,, in POWER for some 60 years or better,, to handle this situation that THEY Knew was a possibility going back at least to 1965 and reflected in the words of the Mayor of New Orleans,,Ray Nagin,, when HE said,,"THIS is the Storm we've ALL been fearing ",,,
THE MSM had that chance and saw instead,,a chance to DEMONIZE a Republican Administration with it's highly selective and targeted reporting..
So WHY??
WHY do people think that Katrina was a Black-Only disaster??
People BELIEVE that because THAT is ALL that they’ve heard from DAY ONE…..
was the costliest and one of the five deadliest Hurricanes in the history of the United States..

I have recently come to learn about something that totally baffles me. Black Liberation Theology, which is credited primarily to so-called theologian James Cone. These same teachings are taught at Trinity United Church of Christ where Reverend Jeremiah Wright was the pastor, and where Barak Obama attended for some 20 years. Rev. Wright uses the premise of black liberation theology as a benchmark for the mission and vision of that particular church. Slain black leader Malcolm X once said the following, and this is just part of the centerpiece of Wrights work:
"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified
totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and
against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill
him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to
the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God
which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need
is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of
black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at
their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we
must reject his love."
Have you ever heard of this? What do you think of it? Is it racist as so many have said? Do you think that since Barak Obama attended Rev. Wrights church for so many years that this type of teaching has influenced him? I think it has and it does, and that he is trying to hide it.
Bottom line - I believe Obama is a racist by association, whether past or present with the racist Reverend Jeremiah Wright. It is already obvious that Michelle Obama is a racist, and that will be more clear if Obama is elected president.
Mark my words. Barak Hussein Obama is a danger to this country, and if he gets elected, watch out, cuz the fat lady is getting ready to do her last performance.

This was not by chance but by design. We TRUSTED EACH OTHER and depended on the wisdom of those who could see what a grand future lay ahead for us all. Susan Atkins. Remember her? She was one of the Manson followers that murdered Sharon Tate. She was the one that sliced Ms. Tate's pregnant belly open and stabbed the unborn child and then took the blood and wrote on the walls. Yeah, that is the monster I am talking about.
Susan Atkins got her death sentence overturned years ago by the Supreme Court and has languished for years in the CA prison system. Now poor Susan has brain cancer and probably won't live past this summer. BTW she is now 60 years old. Susan wants to be released so she can go home and be surrounded by friends and family while she dies.
Newsweek article quote. " Susan Atkins claimed that she heard God’s audible voice saying that her sins had been forgiven. Since then, Susan Atkins has led an exemplary life in prison"..
I wonder if the loony left will start picketing the prison for her right to die at home? The Newsweek article will certainly pull at some one's bleeding heart strings, I'm sure.

Just a personal observation...as I watched the news coverage of the massive flooding in the Midwest with over 100 blocks of the city of Cedar Rapids, Iowa under water, levees breaking, and the attention now turned downstream for when this massive amount of water hits the Mississippi, what amazed me is not what we saw, but what we didn't see...
1. We don't see looting.
2. We don't see street violence.
3. We don't see people sitting on their rooftops waiting for the government to come and save them.
4. We don't see people waiting on the government to do anything.
5. We don't see Hollywood organizing benefits to raise money for people to rebuild.
6. We don't see people blaming President Bush.
7. We don't see people ignoring evacuation orders.
8. We don't see people blaming a government conspiracy to blow up the levees as the reason some have not held.
9. We don't see the US Senators or the Governor of Iowa crying on TV.
10. We don't see the Mayors of any of these cities complaining about the lack of state or federal response.
11. We don't see or hear reports of the police going around confiscating personal firearms so only the criminal will be armed.
12. We don't see gangs of people going around and randomly shooting at the rescue workers.
13. You don't see some leaders in this country blaming the bad behavior of the Iowa flood victims on "society" (of course there are no wide spread reports of lawlessness to require excuses).
Re: Iowa vs. Louisiana:
Where are all of the Hollywood celebrities holding telethons asking for help in restoring Iowa and helping the folks affected by the floods?
Where is all the media asking the tough questions about why the federal government hasn't solved the problem? Asking where the FEMA trucks (and trailers) are?
Why isn't the Federal Government relocating Iowa people to free hotels in Chicago?
When will Spike Lee say that the Federal Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines?
Where are Sean Penn and the Dixie Chicks?
Where are all the looters stealing high-end tennis shoes and big screen television sets?
When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that he wants to rebuild a "vanilla" Iowa, because that's the way God wants it?
Where is the hysterical 24/7 media coverage complete with reports of cannibalism?
Where are the people declaring that George Bush hates white, rural people?

I am copying this from the Miami herald and sharing it with you.
The human bones found inside a sunken van in a Coral Springs canal earlier this year were officially identified Wednesday as those of Jeffrey Walter Klee, a teenager first reported missing more than three decades ago.
How Klee died remains a mystery. Police in Coral Springs are asking the public's help in solving the case.
The black Chevy van belonging to Klee was pulled out of the water in March by Broward Sheriff's Office divers.
The divers were doing a routine sweep of the canal at Nob Hill Road and Coral Ridge Drive for vehicles sunk for insurance fraud.
The Broward County Medical Examiner's Office is still trying to figure out Klee's cause of death.
At the time he disappeared, Klee was living with his parents and three younger sisters in Coral Springs. Friends told The Miami Herald that Klee's father gave him the van when he was 16 years old.
Klee's sister, Cyndee Klee, is now a sergeant with the Coral Springs Police Department.
She and her mother, Florence, declined to comment.
A service is planned for Klee at 5:30 p.m. July 17 at Lutheran Ministry in Christ, 10021 W. Sample Rd. in Coral Springs.
The events leading to Klee's disappearance so many years ago began the night of July 12, 1977, when the teen and some pals from Coconut Creek High School got together at the Crown Lounge, a Tamarac bar where they often hung out. The friends had a few rounds of beer.
Klee then dropped off his best friend, David Cusanelli, and Cusanelli's brother at their Coral Springs home. His own house was three blocks away.
He never made it.
''He disappeared,'' Cusanelli told The Miami Herald in March.
``At first it was disbelief. I thought he met up with someone and something happened. I didn't think my best friend would just leave like that.''
Police are asking anyone with information to call Detective Dave Weissman at 954-346-1291 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477(TIPS).

Man Sentenced for Internet Harassment South Carolina Man Sentenced In First Federal Prosecution Of Internet Harassment
From Federal Bureau of Investigations, for About.com
James Robert Murphy, 38, of Columbia, South Carolina, was sentenced to 5 years of probation, 500 hours of community service, and more than $12,000 in restitution today for two counts of Use of a Telecommunications Device (the internet) with Intent to Annoy, Abuse, Threaten or Harass.
Murphy was indicted in April 2004, for sending harassing emails to Seattle resident Joelle Ligon and to other employees of the City of Seattle. He pleaded guilty to two counts in June 2004. In sentencing Murphy, U.S. District Court Judge Thomas Zilly told Murphy he "...did not demonstrate the type of remorse he should under the circumstances."
In his plea agreement, Murphy admitted he had a sporadic romantic relationship with Ligon from 1984-1990. In May of 2002, Murphy began sending dozens of uninvited and harassing emails and facsimile (fax) messages to Ligon and her co-workers. Murphy hid his identity with special email programs and created the "Anti Joelle Fan Club" (AJFC) and repeatedly sent threatening emails from this alleged group.
Murphy disseminated false information about Ligon's background to her co-workers. The harassment escalated over time, with Murphy sending pornographic material and making it appear that Ligon was sending the pornographic material to her co-workers at the City of Seattle. Even after Ligon was able to identify the person harassing her and get a court order barring contact, Murphy violated the order by sending an email denying he was the harasser.
No Remorse From Murphy In court, Murphy told the Judge what he did was "stupid, hurtful and just plain wrong. I was going though a bad patch in my life. I want to take my lumps and get on with life."
In sentencing Murphy Judge Zilly noted that he was surprised that Murphy "made no effort to indicate your remorse to the victim, to indicate you were sorry." The Judge noted that he had received a letter from Joelle Ligon unlike any he had ever received from a crime victim.
In it Ligon asked the Judge to impose "an effective and compassionate sentence." Judge Zilly decided to impose 500 hours of community service instead of the 160 hours requested by the government. He ordered Murphy to pay $12,297.23 to the City of Seattle to compensate the City for 160 hours of work time lost by employees dealing with the harassment.
Task Force Targets Cyber Crime This case was investigated by the Northwest Cyber Crime Task Force, composed of the FBI, United States Secret Service, Internal Revenue Service, Seattle Police Department, and Washington State Patrol. The NWCCTF investigates Cyber-related violations including criminal computer intrusions, intellectual property theft, child pornography and internet fraud.
The Task Force brings federal, state and local law enforcement agencies together to share intelligence and conduct joint investigations.
This case is believed to be the first federal prosecution of cyber harassment in the United States. Assistant United States Attorney Kathryn A. Warma is prosecuting the case.

I want to know what you think about this .....
Did you know that the United States has been quietly building a giant SUPER EMBASSAY COMPOUND in Iraq... Did you know this?
Did you know that the figure for this compound is hovering at over 600 million dollars? Did you know that?
Do you know REALLY why we're in Iraq? OF COURSE, I support the troops. Absolutely. But the troops aren't the question, and niether is their loyalty to country or to their duty. But the troops are exactly that, THE TROOPS. They DO WHAT THEY''RE TOLD. They have no choice in the matter. So this makes me want to support them even more. Because the poor troops are pawns in this deal. Not fair.
But ( WHY ) are we really in Iraq.? You might think it was because of OIL right?
WELL THEN, why haven't we taken any of it.
We have spent SO MUCH MONEY, and lost SO MANY PEOPLE in Iraq FOR WHAT ? Terrorism? BULL CRAPPO
We're literally KILLING ourselves under the control of a president who has NO IDEA what he's doing, and has a personal agenda when it comes to Iraq.
We have spent MORE MONEY in Iraq, THAN WE HAVE.
We are supposed to be the NUMBER ONE nation on Earth, but yet WE ARE IN DEBT MORE THAN ANY COUNTRY ON THE PLANET
DID YOU KNOW THAT? WE OWE OUT MORE MONEY TO OTHER COUNTRIES THAN ANYONE ELSE ON EARTH.
WE OWE EVERYBODY MONEY. We're actually fighting the war in Iraq with BORROWED MONEY.
Did you know that the money we have PISSED away in Iraq, and Afghanistan is enough that we could cure BREAST CANCER, DIABETES, AND AIDS all together.
OH WAIT,,,,, DON'T DO THAT. THAT WOULD BE TOO SENSIBLE. And it would tumble the American Medical industry.
NOOOOO, let's just CREATE a war in Iraq, and then STAY THERE, and NOT REAP ANY BENEFIT from it.
LET'S PRETEND THAT THE SAUDI'S are our friends. YEAH,,,, that's what we'll push off on the American people. We know that the Saudi's are gonna SCREW the American people by working in collusion to control the oil production overseas, and thus JERK UP the price per barrel to MIND BLOWING RECORD HIGHS.
LET'S JUST SIT BACK, AND NOT DO ANYTHING WHILE THE GAS PRICES RIP APART THE AMERICAN ECONOMY.
WE'RE JUST THE LEADERS OF THE COUNTRY, BUT WE CAN JUST SWEEP IT UNDER THE RUG, AND HOPE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WILL SWALLOW IT. 4.00 A GALLON IS JUST TOUGH.
We have the RIGHT to the oil in Iraq. We freed them from Saddam, and now that Bastard is dead.
MOST Iraqi people would have NO PROBLEM with the United States taking back all it has spent in Iraq, IN THE FORM OF OIL as payment for all we have done for them... And this won't even put a dent in the amount of oil that Iraq has. They won't even feel it.
BUT OUR GOVERNMENT refuses to take the oil. INSTEAD, they would rather have the rest of the middle east SCREW US.
The oil over there is abundant, and WE ARE ENTITLED to it, and Iraq is willing to give it to us. AND WE SHOULD ACCEPT IT.
And it should NOT go TO OR THROUGH any American Oil company.
It should go to a NATIONALIZED account, and program that goes directly TO the United States people. Because THEN we'll have 50 years worth of oil AT WHOLESALE COST OF THE REFINING PROCESS ALONE. The people of America have paid for the war that none of us asked for, nor wanted. So it makes sense that if we can get paid back for all that money spent, that our government SHOULD NOT have control of it. It should go to a TRUST run by an independent party that doesn't cater to the government.
AND WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THE NEW PRICE OF GAS WOULD BE ?????
ONE DOLLAR.
YEP, A DOLLAR A GALLON. That's what we could have if we can keep our governemt's hands out of the pie. A DOLLAR A GALLON.
THEN, you'd see the American economy come back to life over night, and faith in our country would start to be back on the rise.
I HAVE NO FAITH IN THESE GREEDY, SNEAKY BASTARDS we call our elected officials. SNEAKY, LYING, CREATONS.
WE'RE GETTING RIPPED OFF by our own American elected officials. AND YOU KNOW IT, I KNOW IT, AND THEY KNOW IT.
NOW,,, HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT GAS PRICES.
I want to know WHAT DO YOU REALLY THINK

WASHINGTON (AP) -- An internal State Department investigative report suggests that employees may have been snooping on the passport records of celebrities far more than previously disclosed, and urges new steps to secure the files.
A report from the department's inspector general to be released Thursday said that a survey of the records of 150 notable politicians, athletes and entertainers found that 127 of them had been accessed, some of them multiple times.
The report did not say whether they had been viewed for legitimate reasons, but noted that the number seems high.
"Although an 85 percent hit rate appears to be excessive, the department currently lacks criteria to determine whether this is actually an inordinately high rate," it said.
Nonetheless, the report said investigators found numerous problems in the system that is supposed to protect the confidentiality of passport records and called for 22 specific actions to improve it.

A 70-YEAR-OLD Indian woman has become the world’s oldest mum after giving birth to twins.
Omkari Panwar, the wife of a retired farmer, delivered a boy and girl by caesarean section on Friday.
The frail pensioner, who has two adult daughters and five grandchildren, underwent IVF treatment to produce a male heir to the family’s smallholdings.
Mum ... Omkari Panwar, 70
Her husband, Charan Singh Panwar, 77, mortgaged his land, sold his buffalos, spent his life savings and took out a credit card loan to finance the treatment.
“At last we have a son and heir,” he said. “We prayed to God, went to saints and visited religious places to pray for an heir.
“We kept no stone unturned and God has rewarded us. The treatment cost me a fortune but the birth of a son makes it all worthwhile. I can die a happy man and a proud father.”

The twins, born one-month premature and weighing only two pounds each are healthy and expected to survive, according to doctors at Jaswant Roy Speciality Hospital.
Family ... Omkari and relatives
Omkari, who has no birth certificate and does not know the day she was born, uses the date of India’s independence in 1947 to guess her age.
She said she was nine when the British Raj left India meaning she is now 70.
She lives in Muzaffarnagar, seven hours drive north of the capital New Delhi.
Romanian Adriana Iliescu, who gave birth to a daughter, aged 66 in 2005, is the world’s previous oldest mother.
After being told she had beaten the record by four years, Omkari said: “If I am the world’s oldest mother it means nothing to me. I just want to see my new babies and care for them while I am still able.”
Gynaecologist Nisha Malik, who performed an emergency operation on the 70-year-old said: “I was shocked when this old lady told me she was pregnant. I have been practising medicine for 20 years and I have never heard of such a case.”

Here's my question.. if this guy sold his buffaloes, mortgaged his home, spent his life savings and took out a credit card loan to pay for the IVF treatment to have a son.. What exactly will this "heir" inherit?
And what would he have done if he got TWO GIRLS?

Man Sentenced for Internet Harassment
South Carolina Man Sentenced In First Federal Prosecution Of Internet Harassment
No Remorse From Murphy
In court, Murphy told the Judge what he did was "stupid, hurtful and just plain wrong.
Task Force Targets Cyber Crime
This case was investigated by the Northwest Cyber Crime Task Force, composed of the FBI, United States Secret Service, Internal Revenue Service, Seattle Police Department, and Washington State Patrol.

LEESBURG, Ga. — A Georgia teen is facing child cruelty charges after an online video showed a young man launching a baby several feet across a room using an inflatable pillow.
The video posted on YouTube shows the boy putting a baby on one side of a large yellow pillow and then jumping on the pillow, sending the child flying several feet across the floor, where the baby lands and cries.
"He really had no explanation — just thought it would be funny to put it on YouTube," Col. Duane Sepp of the Lee County Sheriff's Office told FOX News. "It's all about, I guess, that five seconds of glory or whatever, and it's terrible it has to happen at the cost of an 8-month-old child."
Click here to watch the shocking video.
The 16-year-old Lee County boy was arrested Tuesday after a school teacher saw the video and called the sheriff's office. The boy's name was not released because of his age.
Has anyone else seen this video? When I first saw this video, I thought I was going to throw up. It appears that the baby flips and then hits the floor hard. You can hear the infant screaming after he lands. I can not believe the complete disregard for the safety of an 8 month old infant.
What do you think about it and what should be his punishment?

MAY 2003
President Signs Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003
“The benefits of the Jobs and Growth Act will also go to investors. The top capital gains tax rate will be reduced by 25 percent, which will encourage more investment and risk-taking, and that will help in job creation.”
“…reducing the tax rate on dividends will also increase the wealth effect around America and will help our markets.”
“This law reflects a common sense economic principle: The best way to have more jobs is to help the people who create new jobs,..”
“When people have more money, they can spend it on goods and services. And in our society, when they demand an additional good or a service, somebody will produce the good or a service. And when somebody produces that good or a service, it means somebody is more likely to be able to find a job.”
“Increased hiring happens gradually, but we're on the path to greater job creation across this country.”
“The bill I'm going to sign provides opportunity for millions of Americans across this country. And the more opportunity there is, the more likely it is somebody is going to find work in this country.”
“Yet other steps are also needed. We must hold federal spending to a responsible level.”
“Our country must get a handle on rising health care costs.”
“We're aggressively implementing higher standards in our public schools so that every child -- every child -- learns to read and write and add and subtract.”
“We're building on the strengths of our economy so that everybody who wants to work can find a job in this great country.”
REALITY CHECK:
1) The stock market (DJIA) - the average yearly increase during the bush administration is less than 1% per year. Going back to Roosevelt, this is better than only Carter (-1%) & Nixon (-2%)
2)The unemployment rate was 3.9% in December 2000, the month before bush took office. It is now 5.5%.
3)Total employment has grown at a slower pace than under any President since Eisenhower, except for 1 - bush #1.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Employers cut payrolls by 62,000 in June, the sixth straight month of nationwide job losses, underscoring the economy's fragile state. The unemployment rate held steady at 5.5 percent.
The latest snapshot of business conditions, released by the Labor Department on Thursday, showed continued caution on the part of employers who are chafing under high energy prices and are uncertain about how long the economy will be stuck in a sluggish mode, reflecting fallout from housing, credit and financial troubles.
The jobless rate spiked to 5.5 percent in May. That marked the biggest over-the-month increase in two decades and left the rate at its highest since October 2004.
Job losses in both April and May turned out to be considerably deeper than had been thought. Payrolls dropped by 67,000 in April, versus the 28,000 previously reported. And, losses in May came to 62,000, rather than the 49,000 initially estimated.
So far this year, the economy has lost a total of 438,00 jobs, an average of 73,000 a month.
Private analysts predict the economy will continue to shed jobs in the months ahead, pushing the unemployment rate higher.
The number of unemployed people in June was 8.5 million, up from 7 million a year ago.
In a separate report from the department, the number of newly laid off people signing up for unemployment insurance rose sharply last week. New applications jumped by 16,000 to 404,000, the highest level since late March. The increase was bigger than economists were expecting; they were forecasting claims to rise to around 385,000.
Oil prices on Wednesday hit a new record above $144 a barrel, while gasoline prices reached a new nationwide high of $4.092 a gallon on average, according to AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express.
Economists expect the unemployment rate to hit 6 percent or higher early next year, even if the economy were to show better growth. Companies will be reluctant to ramp up hiring until they feel certain the economy will stay on firmer footing.

As if times aren't difficult enough all ready, with mortgage foreclosures, gas prices escalating, the cost of living sky rocketing, every, single day we hear of MORE people being laid off. Starbuck's closings will cost 12,000 people their jobs, the auto industry layoffs, 10's of thousands, teachers, thousands, nationwide, restaurants, manufacturing companies, service companies, builders, are going under, every day. And we're wondering why the crime rate is escalating? HMMMMM, I wonder why elderly people are shoving a can of peaches and a package of hamburger down their pants, instead of paying for it? Could it be, they can't afford to buy groceries, medication AND gas? "Hmmm, do we starve, buy gas, or buy our heart medication, or do we try to "lift" dinner tonight?" How about an all ready struggling family of 4, Daddy gets "laid off," goes on Unemployment, gets roughly 40% of his normal wages. NOW WHAT? That "snowballs" them right into a "homeless situation."
The food pantries, EVERYWHERE are bare, because people who normally give, can't, because they're struggling to feed their OWN FAMILIES!!!!
WHEN IS OUR GOVERNMENT GOING TO WAKE UP? They don't care, because their salaries are so big, they're not affected, and neither are the "big wheel CEO'S" of all the major corporations in this country. The Arabs who are yankin' our chains are laughing, ALL THE WAY TO THEIR BANKS! WHILE WE SIT HERE AND SINK IN OUR T.P. CANNOES, PADDLING UP THE SEPTIC STREAM! WHAT ARE THEY GONNA DO FOR THE BABIES OF THIS COUNTRY?

Tis the season to burn money.

I'll admit. I like a good fireworks show as much as the next guy. I even like sitting on my curb watching the neighbors set off fire works. What I don't like is doing it myself. I don't like burning money. When I buy fireworks I feel like I'm just burning "Benjamins".

That's why this year like every year... I will sneak a free peek and hopefully no one will complain.

I will however burn a couple bucks on sparklers. I'm not a total party pooper. I like my kids to like me. Plus I like to write my name with them.

Happy 4th and God Bless America and the right to burn money if you want to!
How about you - will you be burning money this weekend?

With Powerball coming to town, will you play both the Powerball and Lotto?
I admit, I'll buy a Lotto ticket when the jackpots get up there, and I did play Powerball when I lived in states with it.
When you do the math, the odds are about 1 in 23 million you'll win the Lotto and about 1 in 125 million to win Powerball. If you're going to put down a dollar on a long-shot, do you go for the better odds and a smaller payout, or go for the Powerbll and a chance at big money?
