I just wanted to throw this out and hopefully get some positive responses from fellow bloggers.  I have been in law enforcement for almost twenty years and I have seen a LOT of changes to this area.  One change that is a little touchy and painful is the attitude that most people seem to have towards law enforcement.  It seems like everytime I read a blog I read somebody's comment about how a cop made a mistake and he should be fired for it.  I'm going to let you in on a little secret here, cops are people too, and yes I know we are professionals and are suppose to set the example, but we do make mistakes....just like you.  Ask yourself this question, whatever your job is, if you were to make a simple, honest mistake, would you want to be fired?  Probably not.  I know, there are some cops out there who do not always make the best choices, but they are not not everyone of us so don't lump us in one group.  If you have ever wondered why you see cops frustrated or looking like they are mad or upset, try being under the spotlight all day, everyday, knowing that every move you make is being critiqued and videotaped just so people can criticize you later.  We have a very difficult job that gets harder every day.  We get blamed for the crime rate and everything else that goes wrong here but when we try and fix it all that happens is we get second guessed and threatened with law suits.  All Im saying is we're not perfect, we make mistakes, we have people that do bad things, but before you pass judgement and write to everyone about how they shoule be fired because they didn't take a report, just remember that we are human too.

I've been keeping my mouth shut for the last three days and I can't stand it anymore.  On Friday I had to go to one of our local hospitals for a follow up examination on my arm.  I hoped it would be quick but soon realized how mistaken I would be.  After waiting an hour I was called back and went into the express care area.  After thirty minutes I was seen by a nurse and asked my reason for being there.  I explained my situation and she soon left.  Next the finance lady came in and immediately took my co-payment.  Now for the next hour I waited to see a doctor, but none came.  Meanwhile, in the three beds next to me, each spoke to at least one doctor and several nurses.  After waiting I was then discharged by the same nurse who saw me before.  I asked if I could see the doctor and I was told that she discussed my condition with the doctor and I was where they thought I should be.  NOW THEN, here is what ticks me off.  I have insurance, I pay my co-payments, I wait patiently, but the three next to me have none of these and they all see doctors quicker and more often than I do.  What gives?  Mind you I RARELY go to the doctor, but is this what has become of our healthcare system?  Is the only way to get to see a doctor quickly is to have no money or insurance?  Don't get me wrong I'm not against these people receiving medical care, but I think if I'm paying a fortune in insurance and co-payments I should be treated a little better and at least get to see a doctor?  What do you think, am I making too much of this or what?
