What about YOUR child?  Will they be influenced by the news that Jamie Lynn Spears (little sister of Britney) is pregnant at 16?   Jamie Lynn is the star of a show on Nickelodeon and is looked up to by oodles of kids.  She told OK magazine the father is her boyfriend, Casey Aldridge.

How will you talk to your kids about this teen pregnancy?  What will you say?

I just hope that she will do better at parenting than her crazy sister Britney. I don't know why kids are sexually active at such an early age, where is this world heading to?

Mine aren't into her. That is a good thing. My daughter has seen teenage pregnancy first hand since the girl two doors down got pregnant and is well aware of the drawbacks of it. It was an eye opening experience for her. My kids are more into "Dragonforce" and Guitar Hero III then Nickelodeon. I don't have cable TV for a reason.

Good for you Rexsmom.. keep their world child-friendly as long as you can. They're forced to grow up too fast these days.

We have talked to our boys that sometimes your in a moment were tunnel vision takes effect. Think, do you what to bring a child into the world at this moment. We do not sugar coat things we are up front and honest. But we talk and I tell them to think think think...

But, if the time comes where tunnel vision took over and a bundle of joy is comming. I would want my boys to complete their obligation to their child the rest of their life.

My oldest daughter, attending UC-Berkeley for her Masters Degree, and living in El Cerrito CA, had a one-word comment: "Slut."

My youngest daughter, finishing up her degree program at FSU and working for the State of Florida, also had a one-word comment: "Slut."

"Slut" was also the word that came to my mind when I head this story...

It would seem Jamie's career just kinda got flushed down the toilet. She is proud of herself and yet placed her boyfriend in jeopardy. I wonder just how long he is going to stick around now! This is just the beginning of a hard road ahead with this girl. She just took on an adult reality world and she placed herself there by her own admission!

To call a teenager a slut, just because they end up pregnant is so wrong!

Her boyfriend should have kept his penis in his pants. That would have kept them both out of jeopardy!!

I pray all goes well for them both.

Guess none of you had sex when you were teens. Good for you!! Cast a few stones at us who did. I guess, I'm a SLUT!!!!

Sorry Amy, for venting. There are so many nice kids who end up pregnant. I know how hard it is for them. I hope Jamie Lynn's boyfriend helps her out. It will be better than a lot of these teenage moms who have no one to turn to. God bless all these young mothers and fathers, to raise loving children. You never know, one of these kids might be the one to cure a disease, bring peace to another country, or just be a person you would want to look up to.

@Gammies61 -- not "just because they end up pregnant." How about end up pregnant out of wedlock and flaunt it like it's a Nobel Prize winning event?

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING tasteful or noble about children having children. That may develop later, depending on what kind of parents the boy-child and girl-child turn out to be. But the event itself is nothing to brag about.

Oh, and since you broached the subject -- Yes; I had sex when I was in my teens, with teen-age girls. I also had condoms to PREVENT pregnancies; and if I didn't have any, I didn't get any.

@ Sarge, I thought you were a female. Do you think she is flaunting her pregnancy? I think she is part of fame, and the media is flaunting it. She seems to have tried to keep it between her and her family.

So you were one out of millions of young men, who actually thought about a condom. I'm supposed to believe this. LOL You must be a Saint! Wow, I guess you think abortion is a noble thing.

Still you think it is OK for others to call these young mothers, "SLUTS". Lucky for you the condom didn't break, or do you know for sure one of your little swimmers didn't break through, and because you are such a jerk the mother didn't want you near the child?

Gammies61 -- to address your points in order:

1. Yes; I DO believe she's flaunting it. The media can't report it if SHE OR HER PR PEOPLE DON'T ADVERTISE IT.

2. Maybe I travel in different circles than you do, Gammies -- I wasn't the ONLY teenager raiding the pharmacies for condoms. Perhaps your social circle was different than mine.

3. You don't have an inkling of my views on abortion, so suck that thought right back into your aching brain. It had to have hurt to come up with THAT bit of fluff n' stuff.

4. I know for a FACT that the only children resultant from my activities are a son in 1968 while married to my first wife, and two daughters while married to my third wife. There are ABSOLUTELY no others produced by me.

5. Your descent to name-calling means you've run out of argument. Therefore, I've run out of responses.

I might have said you were a jerk, which you may have taken the wrong way. I meant, what if accidentally the condom broke, and the mother didn't want to tell you because she thought you were a jerk.

With the slut comment, I think you might be the pot calling the kettle black? So you think wearing a condom keeps you from being considered a slut. Or is slut just something you can call all the teenage girls you slept with? Not you?

I'm proud my kids don't go around calling people names, or judging others. Fine bunch of kids I have. And from the sluts, I've got 6 wonderful grandchildren. So thank your daughters for judging my kids. Mm-K!

So respond or don't, doesn't matter to me.

First of all let me say I am a young mother.I got married at 17 and had my daughter at 17 as well.Just because there are young girls getting pregnant at early ages does not mean they are "a slut" do not judge. There are already so many young girls pregnant nowadays, sure some do not take care of their kids and live off of their parents, but there are some who do like me.The only thing I see wrong with her being pregnant is the fact how she uses"I never knew I'd get pregnant" any person should know sperm causes pregnancies.she's just an idiot not a slut.if she did not want to get pregnant there is something called birth control or a condom.

Whoa! I had to dig this one out of the archives because I just noticed a comment in another blog in reference to what I said...

I did not mean "slut" as in she is a teenage girl that had sex and got pregnant.

The word came to mind simply because this is a person that our young people look up to and idolize. And this girl is basically saying it is ok for a teenager to go out and have sex and make babies. Sarge is right, this is not something that needs to be flaunted in public so other teenage girls think it is ok.
Accidents happen Gammies and I don't think any teenager who accidentally gets pregnant is a slut, but to advertise it so that other teenage girls want to do it, is wrong.

One can only hope that this pregnant teenager falls off the face of the earth not to be seen again on a kids show.

Right now I have several young women that I deal with on an everyday basis ranging in age from 5 to 14, the teen girls 12 to 14, seem to think it is ok to be sexually active, while the girls aged from five to twelve, look up to these older girls and want to be just like them.

I have also had the pleasure of having pregnant teens mixed in with this group, all of the girls look up to the pregnant teen, wanting to be like her and saying out loud how badly they want to have a baby, until the baby comes and one morning the baby screams for thirty minutes non stop because it is sick, only then do these young impressionable girls realize that having a baby isn't as glamorous as it looks.

No Gammies you are right I guess we were all "sluts" back then. But back then most of us were smart enough to use birth control and not get pregnant. Like I said I don't have a problem with an accident, but advertising it and making it look glamorous to other young impressionable girls is what made me say what I did.

I just wanted to clear that up!

I feel every young teen sees having a baby as having someone to love. Someone who will be with them through thick and thin. They play with babies and see them staring up at them with their little cutie faces, and how could you not want one of your own. Old as I am, even I get this feeling sometimes. Most teens just don't realize how hard it is to have them, until it's too, late.

I don't know Miss. Spears, so I'm not sure she wasn't trying to flaunt it. I really don't know. I say no, but like I was told, she let her publicist know about it. Which I think was better than letting it come out in a bad way. How worse can it get?
