SANTA MONICA, Calif (AP) -- Lindsay Lohan, who just finished a second stint in rehab for substance abuse treatment, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and possession of cocaine early Tuesday, authorities said.

Lohan, who is already facing a drunken driving charge in Beverly Hills, was stopped near the Santa Monica Police Department after authorities were called about a car chasing another vehicle, said Sgt. Shane Talbot.

Authorities conducted a field sobriety test and then transported Lohan to the police department.  A breath test was conducted and her blood alcohol was between .12 percent and .13 percent, Talbot said. California's legal limit is 0.08 percent.

The 21-year-old actress was booked on two misdemeanor charges of suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving on a suspended license and two felony charges of possession of cocaine and transport of a narcotic, Talbot said.

During a pre-booking search, police found cocaine in one of Lohan's pants pockets, Talbot said.

Lohan has been released on $25,000 bail, police said. A call to Lohan's publicist was not immediately returned.

Police said they received a call around 1:30 a.m. from passengers in a black Cadillac Escalade sport utility vehicle who said they were being chased by a white Denali SUV. Police met up with the SUVs in the parking lot of Santa Monica's Civic Center, about a block away from the police department.

When police approached the Denali, they recognized Lohan as the driver. The passengers in the other vehicle apparently know Lohan, but did not realize she was chasing them.

Lohan had two passengers in her vehicle. There were three peoplein the other vehicle, police said.

Last week, Lohan turned herself in to Beverly Hills police to face charges of driving under the influence in connection with a Memorial Day weekend hit-and-run crash.

Lohan's blood-alcohol level at the time of that crash was above the legal limit, authorities said. They wouldn't disclose how high it was. She also faces a misdemeanor charge of hit and run in that case.  

Two weeks ago, Lohan checked out of a rehabilitation center after more than six weeks. In January she also had checked into rehab for substance abuse treatment.

This is just plain sad.

It's no secret Lindsay's father also has addiction problems.  Do you believe an addictive personality is hereditary?   I'm to the point where I actually feel sorry for this girl. SOMEONE GET HER SOME HELP!  She obviously can't help herself.

She definitely needs help big time but I don't feel sorry for her at all. All of these trips to rehab are supposed to be help for her but it doesn't seem to be working. I hope she finds help SOMEWHERE.

I think it is very sad. Like it or not she is a role model for a lot of young women across America. I hope we don't have 10-14 year olds now that think this is an acceptable way to behave. She needs to get her act together or have her fame and money stripped from her.

I think....I don't care either. She is getting too many chances. I don't want to hear about her or the like again. Why would someone as rich as her need to drive herself???? Get a driver, and then self destruct!

I don't believe it's hereditary. I comes from getting extremely rich & famous so fast. Believing you can do what you want....when you want...is about to come crashing down hard on her. I see jail time in her future...and not just a few days.

I dont know why they sent her back to rehab since apparently it doesnt seem to work for her... May be REAL stint in jail for 6 months or more will help snap her back to reality. We dont want to wait for her 3rd DUI or a fatality for her to learn right from wrong...

I am very tired of hearing about young hollywood stars driving drunk and their addictions and think it is the norm. I do not feel sorry for these people. I feel bad for the people that they hurt. No more rehab. Maybe more jail time is needed in some cases.

Futhermore; Alot of these young star's parents are to blame for many of the problems. Some act as if their kids are (Meal-tickets). Go along for the free ride,dispite what it does to their child.. As long as the money comes in and they are welcomed into parties..

SHE IS GOING THROUGH A HARD TIME BUT THE LAW IS AS IS AND SHE NEEDS TO ABIDE BY THEM OR PAY THE PROPER CONSEQUENSES LIKE US COMMON FOLK HAVE TO!!! SOON A HARD HEAD WILL MAKE A SOFT BEHIND AND A NOT SO SOFT PLACE TO LAY HER HEAD IF SHE DOESNT GET IT TOGETHER. IM PRAYING FOR HER AND HER FAMILY. THEY NEED IT!!!

The Rich & Famous, act as if the laws don't apply to them. And why shouldn't they feel this way? The court system always go much easier on them, than other's. It's time for our courts to stop looking at celebrities as "special people". In the long run, the courts are doing them more harm than good when they cut them more slack than other's. Lindsay Lohan needs a firm hand on this one. If not, she may not make it to her 25th birthday.

You actually inspired me to blog about this Amy

But let me ask you: Lindsay Lohan is speeding down the highway, chasing someone she doesn't like anymore, drunk off her butt, and she runs over the love of your life. (Not being unrealistic here - last time, she crashed her car).

What help do you recommend then, for Lindsay Lohan?

Because I someone don't think you're going to be standing over this person's body, or what's left of it, and saying, "You know, she was really good in Mean Girls."

I think that her fathers jail time, her issues in work, friends, and moms little achohal games are the cause.


I like this women, she was a really good person until now. Idk whats going on, maybe its the fact that the moms a party monster and the father was put into Jail.

This is just sad!

I've seen this happen over and over again with young celeberties. The first one I remember was Drew Barrymore. Remember what a mess her life was? Lindsay is just yet one more in a long line of young stars who got too much, too soon. She might pull out of it, Drew managed to, after all, so it's not impossible. Still, it's only a matter of time before we'll be hearing about the next child star crashing. Maybe Dakota Fanning will be next when she hits her teens. Then we'll be seeing pictures of her when she started out, with the caption saying "The Rise and Fall of Dakota Fanning."

Quit reading the news reports, Amy; you're beginning to believe the propaganda being put out by Hollywood PR firms.

Lohan, Spears, Hilton ..... nothing but show ponies being put through their paces by druggie friends, booze-hound hangars-on, an army of "yes" men, and a demented society that doesn't care about anything except exploitation. Rehab isn't going to work until the INDIVIDUAL wants it to work.

Until then, the best we can hope for is that the show pony breaks a leg so we can be put out of its misery.

Lindsay who? I'm sorry... I was too busy living my life to worry about what some Hollywood starlet is doing. When was the last time one of these Hollywood types helped you file your tax return or served you a dinner at fine restaurant or filled a prescription for you or listened with a sympathetic ear when you were feeling down? Life is about taking care family and friends and not fauning over the lastest celebrity. Wizard you hit it dead on. They're human just like the rest of us.
