This is a touchy subject and I probably wont get a lot of comments on this subject. It seems however that the people of Central Florida arent afraid to express their opinions.

Do you think that racism is still prominent in America today or do you think that it has gotten better? Do you believe in reverse racism? How can racism be destroyed or is this going to be forever a blemish in American society?

Well, I have always seen others experience racism and discrimination back in the 70's and 80's as the 90's and 2000 rolled along it got better ( I am talking in the State of New Jersey). However, I am truly saddened and shock when we moved to Orlando in 2005...BOY IT WAS LIKE A SMACK IN THE FACE...the discrimination against latinos and of course, immigrants its unbelievable...I don't see it with blacks as much, what I feel is that people are so afraid of getting sued with discrimination that they have been laxed with the afro-american communities but when it comes to immigrants and spanish people..I can't believe this stuff still goes on and I pray that people would unite

to realize that we were all put on this earth by one creator and that NO ONE in this world is indispensable and we are somehow all related as I only know of Adam and Eve....so I have to think we evolved from our mother and father but then you have still KKK and white supremist God forbid they should be told we are related and then you also have the nasty attitude of Spanish people wanting to CHANGE AMERICA...so until we all realized that we ARE BORN, WE GROW, WE HAVE CHILDREN WE RAISED THEN WE DIE AND IT GOES ON AND ON...and we teach them to respect and LOVE ONE ANOTHER...its hard to tell if it would ever stop....Good Blog

then of course, there's the theory of the APES...

one more note...I also thought it was unjustified that in the case of Jena 6 wherein six afr-american beat on a single white male and when the racism was reverse...OF COURSE, GOOD OLD SHARPIE...tried to interfere...and that was not right...Had it been the other way around six white agains one afro-american...BOY..WE STILL BE HEARING ABOUT THE ABUSE.......so you see my friend..we live in a very unperfect world......and only time would tell what's in our future....frankly, I think its going to get worst before it gets better and that would be WHEN THE BEGINNING OF THE END...comes to pass as it is written.....o.k. bye bye

Al, you're asking a lot when you asked us to be nice.

World wide, and reversed. I think there are more racist up north, than in the south. Spread throughout the world. It will never go away, because certain people won't let it. See, this post you have written is one of the things which keeps reminding people of the problem. Thanks a lot Al! LOL

If knowing about the past would change our future, then why are we still having wars? Why are we still having riots? Why can't we all just get along?

I'm nicer than any one on here, just ask? LOL

Better
No because racism is racism
it will always be with us worldwide.

Racism is a mechanism. The brain wants to group things together so we divide people into groups. Even if we don't think we are racist, our brains still categorize people by color, sex, age, height, weight, clothing, etc.

As a society we discouraged and even made it illegal to discriminate against people based on our feelings about certain groups. (like blondes or people with tattoos)

What is important is to remember that each person should be judged as a person.

And what are the news guys to say when describing someone?

"The suspect has dark hair, dark eyes, and an afro. Back to you, Burritto."

Gotten better!? No way... It's definitely getting worse. Inflation and the economy are driving up slave prices, and they're doing less work than ever before! I'm lucky to get an hour of decent work for twenty bucks!

Racism will never die. Get over it. We're different, that's a fact, and there's nothing wrong with it.

Better,Yes,and BIGOTS will be BIGOTS wherever they reside worldwide. There was a Dade Co. sheriff,Vogel I believe, that was accussed of Racial Profiling to arrest criminals, predominately those in the drug trade. Did some innocent people get stopped or briefly detained, yes. Did he catch criminals, confiscate drugs, seize large amounts of cash and unregistered loaded weapons YES. Some 80% of those stopped, if I recall correctly. But was it racial profiling? Or was it something different, another term? Maybe : judgement by association ? If a dealer was standing at a street corner dispencing his goods and a crowd was gathered around, wouldn't that close association give probable grounds to check them all out ? Are there not actions, work and social behavior associated with lawfull pursuits ? Are there not opposites associated with illegal pursuits ? Who or how do you determine the difference ?

The last questions in reguards to terms describing the type of action. You hear mention that there is a disportionately larger percentage of minorities in jails and prison for ALL types of crime. Is it possible that in catching criminals or felons, that the percentages accurately reflect exactly who is committing the crime ?

Meb452m, be careful Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton don't like hearing that. They just want to state one side of the issue - more black people in prison than other races. Yet if you watch the news and see who commit the majority of serious crimes your question is answered.

My children had many friends of different races, religions, and sexual preferences.
As a child I had the same thing. My father had the same.
Racism is taught. As long as people like Sharpton, Jackson and the media can make a living off of it, it will exist.
If you have money to spend and don't cause trouble, almost all stores don't care what you look like.

plOp25, I already knew the question to that answer as well. I just wonder why the press forwards the idea of disporportionate corrections population ? To hear them talk you would be lieve innocent minorities are rounded up to take the place of the actual felons. It flies in the face of all of the facts. The people in prisons are those caught in the commission of felonies, that is just a plain simple fact !
