With the economy on the brink and elections looming, Congress approved an unprecedented $700 billion government bailout of the battered financial industry on Friday and sent it to President Bush for his certain signature. The final vote, 263-171 in the House, capped two weeks of tumult in Congress and on Wall Street, punctuated by daily warnings that the country confronted the gravest economic crisis since the Great Depression if lawmakers failed to act.

The buzz over China's gold winning gymnastics team just got a lot louder.

The associated press found a story on an official Chinese news website. It lists one member of the women's gymnastics team as 13 years old.

The story has a November dateline.

So if the facts are right, there's no way on earth the girl meets the 16 year old age limit.

It gets even more interesting because the story disappeared from the Chinese website this afternoon.

Former US gymnastics coach Bela Karolyi has flat out said the Chinese cheated.

China's government says the girls' passports are legit.

Do think the US has a beef with the Chinese?

Or is this just a case of sour grapes?

A new Associated Press-IPSOS poll shows 4 out of ten voters haven't made a final choice on who they'll pick for president.

Maybe that will change with the conventions start in the coming weeks.

Former Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards finally came clean about cheating on his sick wife.

Edwards now admits he repeatedly lied about his affair. But he insists he did not love the other woman and he claims he is not the father of her baby.

Forget the ruler the punishment for naughty students in one Texas town will have them taking a fashion queue from prisoners.

School officials at an independent school in San Antonio say kids who violate the dress code will have to wear jumpsuits like this one.

Students there are speaking out about the possible fashion disaster.

But the superintendent of the school says the jumpsuits aren't the only option.

The parents of the kid who violated the dress code can also bring them some clothes.

Bet some of you have teenagers who push the envelope with their outfit’s…do you think a prison-looking jumpsuit is a good idea to keep it clean at school?

Caylee Marie Anthony was first reported missing on July 15, over 30 days after she first disappeared.

Casey Anthony, mother of the missing 3-year-old toddler, says she left Caylee in the care of a babysitter, Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez. However, investigators in the case say they haven't been able to determine that this person exists.

Casey was taken into custody on July 16, charged with child neglect, making false statements and obstructing an investigation. Her bond was set at $500,200. She was bonded out by a California bounty hunter on August 21.

On Friday, August 28, she was re-arrested for uttering a forged instrument, fraudulent use of personal information and petit theft. The bounty hunter that first posted her bond rescinded his offer, making it virtually impossible for her to be released on a $503,200 bond with her additional $3,000 bond on new charges.

Orange County officers filed additional check fraud and theft charges, and say they plan to charge Casey with more economic crimes in the future.

Casey was released for a second time Friday, September 5 after an anonymous person or group fronted her bond. She was escorted out of the jail by her attorney, Jose Baez, and two bodyguards.

She was arrested for a third time Monday, September 15 on new check fraud and theft charges. Casey was released shortly after on a $1,250 bond and was again escorted out of jail by her attorney and two bodyguards.

Greg Cark of Cecil Clark Chevrolet in Leesburg says his dad put this flag up as a retired veteran of war.
       
Clark says the act filled him with pride.

He carried it to, dad carried it to another level, being
a retired vet he was always passionate about god and country," said Clark.

That was more than twenty years ago. Clark's father has been dead a year, but a city ordinance could soon mean the flag his father put up would have to come down.
       
"I feel like it has to do more with me or a citizen of the United States of America being able to fly a flag that is not in anyones face it's a thing of beauty it's not what I would consider an eyesore, it has nothing to do with business per say, it has everything to do with my rights, he Clark.
   
Greg was informed by a fellow business owner about an ordinance requiring business owners to install shorter, monument type signs instead of pole based signs and flags.
      
"Now the law says flag poles can only be 35 feet and the flags no larger than 6 feet by ten feet dimensionally, and even though Clark's flag is 1800 square feet he says he's getting city support, said Clark.

Think the flag should stay up?

A federal appeals court just ruled it's unconstitutional to force kids to say the pledge or punish them for not standing during it if they have an explanation from their parents.  Basically the appeals court interpreted the law largely as a parental rights issue.

Do you think all school kids should be forced to say the pledge?  Or is it no big deal to you?

Christian Bale on Tuesday denied allegations of assault made by his mother and sister, hours after the star of "The Dark Knight" was arrested, questioned by London police and released.

The 34-year-old Bale spent four hours at a police station, but was not charged and was released on bail. British media reported that Bale's mother and sister complained he had assaulted them at the Dorchester Hotel in London on Sunday night, a day before the European premiere of "The Dark Knight."

What do you make of Batman in the police station? Are you more or less likely to see the movie because of the talk?

Thanks to a lobbyist, lawmakers on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee are bouncing around the idea of raising the federal gas tax.

One idea floating around is a 10 cent increase in order to continue building and improving roads.

Right now, drivers pay an 18 cent federal gas tax per gallon. That money goes into what's called the Highway Trust Fund, a fund, that’s suffering from a more than 3 billion dollar shortfall.

Transportation officials say if Congress doesn't do anything about this deficit, road projects won't get done and thousands of jobs will be cut.


We want to know… what of a 10 cent gas tax did go through…could you stomach it? Or would you rally and try and fight?

Analysts are saying that Americans have cut their gasoline consumption by five percent over the last year and it seems to be going down every week.

The lower demand for gas is helping to push the price of fuel down, for now.

State Farm is seeking a 47.1 percent rate increase in homeowners' policies in Florida.    The Illinois-based company is the largest private homeowners' insurer in Florida with roughly 1 million customers.

State Farm spokesman Justin Glover says the company has spent roughly $1.20 for every dollar collected in premiums in Florida since 2000 and the big increase was necessary to stabilize its Florida operation.

A spokesman for the state Office of Insurance Regulation says the filing is being thoroughly reviewed and that a public hearing on the State Farm filing will be held next month.

Remember State Farm announced in February no new homeowners' policies in Florida and they booted roughly 50,000 homeowners living in coastal areas.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Barack Obama and John McCain agree on at least one thing: they both think New Yorker magazine has gone too far with its cartoon cover showing Democratic presidential candidate dressed as a Muslim and his wife as a terrorist.

McCain says the cover is "totally inappropriate" and he understands "if Senator Obama and his supporters would find it offensive."

The New Yorker, in a statement today, says "satire is part of what we do" and the cover is an attempt to show what it calls the "prejudice, the hateful and the absurd" actions of right-wing critics of Obama.
