I think it is about time we (as human beings) quit being doormats! If I were in this mans shoes, I would probably have done the same thing! I am glad that they decided to not charge him!

Yeah for the grand jury! I'm sure Mr. Horn regrets taking a life or two but these were low lifes that don't deserve the air they were breathing. From hearing the tape, they were warned but disregarded that warning. So be it...

You forgot to mention the part were they confronted him in his own backyard.
Convenient mistake?
From the AP wire:

Lambright said Horn believed the two men had broken into his neighbor's home and that he shot them out of fear for his life when they came into his yard and threatened him.

"He wasn't acting like a vigilante," Lambright said. "He was well within his rights to do what he was doing."

The men Horn killed, Hernando Riascos Torres, 38, and Diego Ortiz, 30, were unemployed illegal immigrants from Colombia. Torres was deported to Colombia in 1999 after a 1994 cocaine-related conviction.

Whats the problem here? NONE!!!!

People have to understand that if you break into someones home you risk death by the homeowner. Bravo Mr. Horn!

I completely agree with Mr.Horn's decision and the decision of the grand jury. These men would have continued a life of crime with many future victims. I believe that as a people we should take a stand and develop an intolerance for senseless crime and violence. When criminals start dropping like flies, crime might decrease.

Good for him, if we all had neihbors like this the world would be a safer place

Good. I'm glad this was brought up, I was wondering whatever happened to Mr. Horn.

I can't help but think that part of the reason that they decided not to indict him, was that they knew that he was considered to be a hero to most of the local populace, and they knew they could have a riot on their hands if they convicted him.

Hear ye Hear ye! If one neighbor wants to defend another neighbor's property, I say more power to them! We need to look out for one another. No one should be stealing from anyone in the first place, if you are going to break into someone's house you better be ready for the consequences. Including death!

The AP article sheds a completely different light on this story than Fox News' blurb did. Maybe you can learn something from it, Fox? Like telling the *whole* story is part of practicing professional journalism?

Care to elaborate more on the AP story, joe? Or at least a link/url to the story you're referring to? What's "the *whole* story"? Don't keep us in suspense.

Well isnt this funny, When I said I would defend myself in a situation where I was directly assaulted I was called a moron and should have just called the police. Now I see it is the other way around. As I have stated before on these blogs, One thing you can never rely on is a criminal stopping from doing what they are doing just because you slide into the "passive" role. Defend yourself to the end, if not you will live your life in fear of the "next" time

The days of 'and 25 people stood around and did nothing' blew up with the trade centers.

People are sick of it - I know I am. We aren't going to stand by and watch these criminals, and we're going to support each other when we have to intervene.

Criminals, stand by, because hunting season on you never ends.

I remember this story.....KUDOS..see is not all lost...justice has prevail in this case. Now I like to know what happen with the neighbors????

They made the right decision. The man was protecting the property of his neighbor, and possibly his own life, in the future. Hey, the guy was climbing out the window, and coming in HIS direction, oh well!

I say that if the grand jury did try to convict him to remove them from the jury permently too.

We cant reply on cops these days, they are too busy trying to sue the public flor slipping on wet floors, being caught sleeping in their patrol cars, or commiting crimes themselves.

Its about time the public puts a quick end to the crimminals lives and saving taxpayers money.
