Five year old Hailey Goranflo is fighting tremendous odds.

She has a rare medical condition: she can't walk talk or eat without a feeding tube. And she has terrible seizures.

Most kids like her don't live past 12. Her family hopes stem cell science in China can change her fate.

Hailey's family is from Kentucky. They went to Canada hoping to connect to China. But that’s when they say Air China and Air Canada turned them down.

We want to know; do you think an airline should be able to decide who's healthy enough to fly and who isn't?

Let us know what you think...

Although I feel bad for the family, from a liability stand point I can understand. If the child is allowed on board and the plane had to make an emergency landing, 100's of passengers plans would be ruined and the airlines would be responsible to get them all new flights. The family should go through life flight or some charity to get a private plane.

The airlines have crossed the line on so many occasions in the past year it is unbelievable. Last week it was the Autistic boy and now it is a little girl who needs medical treatment in china. What ever happened to the friendly airs.

A friend of mine owns and operates a special airline agency, just for children like Haley. It's 100% FREE. They fly kids to hospitals, in private jets fully equipped with staff and equipment, all over the country, but not out of the USA. If she has a Dr. or trained professional with her, and her equipment, what's the problem? Are they afraid of an additional liability, or is there some other reason?

Where did we get the idea that flying is some kind of a God given right? Personally I wish they'd boot more people off! I wish elementary and high schools would do the same thing but that's a whole different story.

People have different needs and different requirements. Not everyone needs to satisfy or cater to those needs.

Oh Deb...you are the greatest! You have such a BIG heart and connections! I think FOX should pass this on to the family!

I hate to say it but the airlines do have reasons for denial and they do have that right. It's most unfortunate be there are medical risks and liability to the airline, flight attentants, and the other passengers. They look at this kind of thing as a special flight instead of a commercial flight.

Who gives them the right to decide who gets is healthy and who isn't? What medical school did they go to?? I am a nurse and I wouldn't feel right tellling them that they can't fly due to health reasons. They should get a release from a doctor and be done with it.

I think fox 35 dropped the ball on this one (the story that is) on the net it says the girl got sick on a lay over in Vancouver and was refused her international flight after being hospitalized...so what did the Canadian ER Dr say ? What did mom say about the liability question ? ...Deb is right about the program of volunteer pilots it is called “Angel flight” and I have seen them arrange flights for wish kids to England so she should contact them

This is very sad, but I have to wonder what is going on. Recently Fox35 had another story about a child with some type of medical condition and they were taking her/him to China. No problems reported there and the follow up story indicated child is doing fine. So I have to wonder if this was already set from here to the doctors in China that were made aware of the conditions..DUNNO...this don't sound too culture.

While I understand the wishes of the parents to transport their daughter to China for medical treatment, I also understand the airline's view of liability. I can imagine what would happen if the girl took a turn for the worse during the flight. Could it be possible for some type of waiver to be signed, releasing the airlines from responsibility (for actions not directly affecting the girls health) for this particular flight? Otherwise, that "Angel Flight" program looks like the best solution.

Who owns those airlines? Not the parents of that girl or any of us. So we can whine and cry all we want but its up to the people of the airlines to make up their own rules.

Born, many Dr.'s, hospitals and agencies know about them. While He IS Nationwide, last I knew they Don't fly Internationally. The name of the company, is appropriately named,
"Angel Flight." They take care of EVERYTHING! The Shriners (not just for burns- they helped a little girl I know who had a spinal-cord injury) will also help!

...Yes/No Deb AF is a national organization BUT they are volunteers so they are not bound by a set of rules , but you have to find a pilot who has a plane that can make the trip (Wow getting permission to land in China could take some time!) and who will take the risk AF will not cover the insurance for a flight out of the country so the pilot is on his/her own

enough is enough, i say cut the crap people!! we need to pull together and get this child the care she needs. it shouldnt matter about the stupid insurance, and yes a waver signed by the parents will work but nobody is taking the time to handle it that way nor do they care. i fight for all of you peoples freedom and in times like these i wonder why ........ think about it for a minute and repeat UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!! how united are we if we dont help each other.

NO waiver would do ANY good..They can rightfully claim,, IN a lawsuit,, that they were FORCED by circumstances to sign such a document...And THEY would WIN...

You CANNOT be Forced by ANYTHING or ANYONE to give up your rights..
