Florida Fish and Wildlife officers are trying to trap a 10 foot gator in Windermere. As a rule, officers must destroy a gator that's more than 4 feet long if it's a nuisance. There are some wildlife and gator refuges that would take in a 10 foot gator to be an attraction. Do you think officers should have the option of turning a gator over to a refuge rather than killing it?

Good question and point there Todd!

Even the guys who are called in to capture a gator admit that it will be harvested...becomes food and hided out! Many parts of a gator are sold! The reasoning behind it is it would cost more to transport to a different location then it would to kill it and there is a profit to be made here with the harvest being gator meat is expensive! Gators are no longer on the extinct list...in fact they are overwhelming now!

I have posted about one mammoth gator that was killed simply over fear by one person! It's easier to go ahead and kill the threat before anything could happen then it would be to echnor it and then someone is attacked, killed, or someone's pet disappeared...that could open a law suit! Gator refuges are over populated now and it costs money to keep them all fed! Why go through an expense when there is a profit to be made? What people don't realize is where there's one...another isn't far behind! It's mating season and they travel and are more active so gators will in fact be popping up in the strangest places now! So what do you think and how do you feel about it?

Borntobewild,

Good point. I say what we need to do is feed the child molestors to the gators first so we can fatten up that gator and then there is more gator to be sold to make more money and my taxes are being wasted by keeping these dirtbags alive....

toddt, don't be alarmed, but I think that I like the way you think. You, too, BorntobeWild!
The poor gators having to eat that BLEEP though, it might be against animal protection laws.

I think we should relocate the gator, and agree we should feed them the child molestors and yankees (need to change up the diet a little bit now and then).

Feed the child molester to the gators? you guys should be reported for animal abuse. What did the poor gator do? LMAO. It does sound like an excellant idea though and would free up the courts and prisons.

You guys have good ideas but you left out the most important part. The definition, of "Nuisance" does not mean they will kill it. Read up on Nuisance. I am also a trapper. I love wildlife and animals of all kinds.
Don't jump the gun people but yes, always educate yourself.

Realized what I was thinking and what I wrote were different.
I meant to say that just becuase they (trappers) come out to remove a gator does not mean it's a nuisance. To be classified nuisance they have to have several requirements.
