... package will be passed on Friday.

By November, the economy will be on its way towards recovery. (I'm just a starry-eyed optimist.)

... before cell phone use while driving is declared illegal?

A 13-year-old girl will never celebrate her 14th birthday because a tractor-trailer driver was too busy fussing with his/her cell phone.

Only ten days ago, 25 people died in a train wreck because the train engineer was too busy texting someone to notice a red light signal.

How many of us have has crashes or close-calls with drivers who were paying more attention to their phone conversations than their driving?

How many more people have to die before cell phone use while driving is declared illegal?

Tallahassee? Are any of you paying attention? Or are you all on your cell phones?

... the alternative, trust me, would be a LOT worse.

But let's construct the bail-out package(s) with some intelligence and common sense, yes? Washington, if there was ever a time to do something the correct way, this is it.

Give these financial giants (the ones whose greed created this mess in the first place) all the money they want/need, but:

o   garnish the all the salaries/bonuses/stock options of all the CEOs, CFOs, COOs, etc., etc. Do not let any of them walk away from this financial fiasco with pockets bulging with OUR money;

o   construct a payback schedule -- construct the "bail-out" as a loan instead of a gift;

o   assign forensic accountants to examine the books -- past, present and future to ensure there is no funny business above what we all know to date.

Dear Mr. Wood,

You're 92 years old. You work part-time and you are drawing a salary and a pension totaling $234,000 per year.

Time for you to go and enjoy spending the money the taxpayers worked so hard for.

And shame on you for taking advantage of Florida's absurd retirement plan.

Truly yours,
Beleaguered Taxpayers

"Let's go to court to reduce the bond so Casey can get out of jail."

"Let's stop the publication of these phone calls -- they do nothing to help the investigation."

Mr. Lawyer -- why are you concerning yourself with these non-issues? Why are you not focusing your attention on getting this despicable little trollop to tell what she knows about Caylee's/Caylee's body's whereabouts?

Niagara Bottling LLC has applied to the St. John's River Water Management District for permission to sink wells in south Lake County and draw up to 177 million gallons of water per year to sell in stores.

The District's staff is recommending giving Niagara permission to do this because it'll mean millions of dollars flowing into the state's coffers. At the same time however, they are urging water conservation for Florida homeowners.

This deal carries a strong odor, to put it mildly. I wouldn't be surprised if there is some money passing under the table in this deal. Maybe FOX can send a couple of investigative reporters over there and see what they can find?

You can't drink money and those millions will just get tossed into some bureaucratic dumpster anyway.

... interesting Anthony family dynamics before they circled the wagons:

Cindy Anthony -- "I have someone here who I need be arrested and a possible missing child," referencing Casey and Caylee.

Cindy Anthony -- "There is something wrong...I found my daughter's car today, it smells like there's been a dead body in the damn car."

Sure doesn't sound like the loving and supportive mother and grandmother we've all grown to love over the past few  days, does it?

This event is playing out like some cheesy, but potentially tragic, daytime soap opera!

And lastly, how about this for a theory:
Casey left Caylee in the car with the windows rolled up while she went shopping or to have her nails done. Caylee was dead by the time Casey returned. She stuffed the kid in the trunk and left her there for a few days until she borrowed the shovel to bury the body somewhere.

What she did what so horrific that she turned to stone. And this is what we see on the news.

I fervently hope I'm wrong, and Caylee is alive and well.

If that little girl was still alive, she would have to be held captive by someone with evil intent, or else she would have been turned over to the authorities by now, what with all the publicity.

Okay, so what evil intent? Ransom? There's been no ransom demand. The family doesn't seem like they're very wealthy anyway.

I suppose she could have been kidnapped by some deranged people who wanted a child. But kidnapped with no witnesses and no clues? And the kidnappers know they can never let her be seen in public, with her picture all over the news on a daily basis. Maybe they'll keep her locked up in a room for years like that poor little girl in Austria some months ago. That's a thought I would prefer not to entertain.

If the "mother" knew anything about that, there would be no reason for her to keep that from the authorities.

I keep coming back to the very sick Casey. The fact that she's not talking tells me she's hiding something horrendous. She knows where Caylee is buried and she's hoping the whole mess blows away as an unsolved mystery.

If there ever was a justifiable employment of torture, this is it. Where's Jack Bauer when you need him?

... what's the deal with the new "pending approval" step? I'm betting one or more posters stepped way over the line recently?

But to impede all posters for the idiocy of a few is a bit overkill, isn't it?

Ban the morons of course, but leave the rest of us alone, yes?

A female relative was driving 441 the other night -- late. Very few other cars on the road. She's in the middle lane.

A car comes up on her left relatively fast, pulls alongside and slows to match her speed for a few seconds. She figures it's a cop. But then the car accelerates, pulls right in front of her and applies the brakes. Happily, she's alert enough to brake in time to avoid a collision.

What happened? The other driver was obviously hoping to be rear-ended and:
- looking for a quick cash settlement or an insurance co. payout;
--or --
- as driver information was being exchanged, he was looking to rob her, or worse.

Bottom line? If you're alone at night and you're involved in a minor accident, do NOT get out of your car. Call 911 and get a cop there ASAP.

If you don't have a phone, exchange info through the window. If the other driver is menacing at all, drive away, if you can, and go to the nearest Police Station. Make note of the other car's make and model and plate number, if you can.

Predators are out there, and they're not just going after children.

Interesting video clip on the news last night -- obama moving down a line of well-wishers:

white man -- obama shakes his hand, side slap on the shoulder;
white woman -- smile and a handshake;
black woman -- smile and a BIG HUG.

If he's elected, will white people become the newest minority (as if we're not almost there already)? .

Now that your Amendment One passed?

Instead of having its intended effect on the bureaucrats -- cutting down on wasteful and criminally foolish spending -- our "leaders" are targeting essential services, social services and schools, while they continue to belly up to the public trough.

Now the people will be paying "fees" instead of taxes.

Governor Crist -- we gave you what you wanted, now you have to take action to protect us from these carrion birds before they strip us of all our flesh
.
