I'm sure you've heard that news. That Sarah Palin's 17-year-old daughter is having a baby. Pregnant. Unmarried. And just 17 years old.

In case you don't follow politics, Sarah Palin is presidential candidate John McCain's VP pick.

So, I ask the question: Will this hurt the republican ticket?

I can't say it will hurt, but it sure won't help.  The democrats must be licking their chops.

Bring it.

No, the democrats think like Obama
"I don't want my daughters PUNISHED with an unwanted pregnancy"

This isn't news....it is gossip. Tabloid Gossip and I am surprised (not really) that journalists would even take this information and turn it into a major news item. There are no journalists any longer. That is something that is becoming extinct.

Actually the entire event has now blown up in the Democrat's face! The Daily KOS has come out with some pitiful statements on the issue. So bad that even DailyKOS has tried to tone it down, but the horses have already left the barn. Obama once again will not be able to shake his association with DailyKOS as he and the rest of the ENTIRE Democrat runners went to their convention!

All we have to do now is play the Daily KOS messges and filth, then show ALL the top Democrats from Obama to Hillary speaking and attending their functions, and show how much money they have received from them!

Even Rev. Wright today came out with another racist statement that was just over the top!

No.... Democrats now, are finding out that the media no longer can cast a security blanket over them, and its going to be ugly for them.

I agree. It's all too common. But I still believe it could sway the middle-of-the-road right wingers closer to the other side.

If this shoe was on Obama's foot, Republicans would be all over it like white on rice and going for the jugular. But that's what people who preach morality and "family values" with a "do as I say, not as I do" attitude do. Just like Cheney: "Gay adoption and marriage is wrong unless it's my artifically-inseminated daughter."

At least Obama made it clear from the moment this news broke: "Let me be as clear as possible. I think people's families are off-limits, and people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Governor Palin's performance as governor or her potential performance as a vice president." He said reporters should "back off these kinds of stories. "How a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn't be the topic of our politics, and I hope that anybody who is supporting me understands that's off-limits."

Too bad his detractors here and elsewhere can't extend the same grace and gallantry to Obama that he's extended to Palin and admit, at the very least, the man is just that -- gracious and gallant, unwilling to stoop to the gutter politics Rove and company made stock in trade for the GOP these past eight years. Kudos to him for that, at the very least. Very gentlemanly, Obama.

This is all too common now-days. Unfortunately, people want to know about the person (Sarah) who is chosen as running mate, and their family. We really need to know everything about the nominees and their running mates because our nation will be under the winner's command.

We need to know how capable they are, what their values are, and how they handle difficult situations. If a child gets into trouble, I believe it does beg answers when it involves our nation's leaders. It makes me wonder what was lacking in the home, if too much time away from her children was, or would, be a problem, and where the vice presidency would fit into the picture.

Children should not be involved in politics. On the other hand, if she is pregnant and getting married, should she still be treated as a child?

It will just make a media frenzy, but the main question should be, how old is the father? Is he over 18 and if he is why isn't he charged with rape or listed as a sexual preditor. If he isn't and it just a case of boy and girl not knowing better, than it needs to be left alone and let family work it out.

I don't want a VP that has 5 children with the oldest being pregnant and the youngest having downs syndrome. I think those kids will need their mother with them more then we need an unexperience VP. If McCain wasn't so old, maybe it would be different. You wouldn't have to worry about him have physically problems as much as a man in his 40s or 50s. He is too old and she has too much on her plate. I don't think a women can have 5 kids and a job like that and give either one her best. Her little one is going to take up a lot of time with special classes and usually a lot of medical problems. You can't just say, well I need to be home with my kids today. McCain made a very stupid mistake. If he thought people would like it just because she is a women, just shows that he shouldn't be president. If he had chose someone with a lot of experience and younger than him. I wouldn't voted for him but not now. This women doesn't know anything about the world politics and we don't need someone to take a crash course. A little more education would have helped too. Not just a bachelor degree in Journalism. At least a masters degree.
Well, McCain you lost my vote and my husbands. Way to go!

Hey, retasueus, what a stupid comment. Have you ever taken care of a Down Syndrome Child? Have you ever been around a family who had a pregnant teenaged daughter? Millions of intelligent professional women are really capable of holding down a job, yes, even an executive job and have a family. Who cares if McCain lost your vote...he doesn't need it or even want it from someone who speaks so unintelligible as you. In fact, be honest, you never intended to vote for McCain anyway.

Yeah thats all we need. McCain dies, Palin becomes Pres. and we have two historic firsts. First woman president and first unwed pregnant teen to live in the White House. It just shows how far our nation has fallen when teen pregnancy is the norm and putting your children on the back burner so you can rule the world is not a character flaw but a "woman's right".

would you feel the same way if a father of 5 kids with the same circunstances were picked? I don't think it matters that Gov. Palin wants to do both the job of VP and a mother...as long as she has a supportive husband. and if sounds like she does...he's going to be the caregiver while she runs.

and I don't think you can question her experience when she has more of it than the top of the democratic ticket...world politics, or otherwise.

Being VP is not just the run of the mill executive job. She's not going to have "time off" and she can't call in sick. If the world is in crisis they don't care if her son is sick or her daughter is in labor! Come on, any realistic person knows that there is no such thing as a super woman. I know the liberal feminists have tried to convince us all that they should be able to have their cake and eat it too but we all know that something has got to give it won't be her career. There are not enough hours in the day for her to be a good mom to 5 children and be the 2nd in command of the free world. Her daughters and infant son need her, thats more than obvious. She's young, she has plenty of time when her children are grown to advance her career. But instead she wants it now at the expense of her children. Not the kind of women I would want in office.

There is no possible way that young girl who is being punished with a BABY can give birth if her mom is at work!!!!OH THE HUMANITY!!!!! and have you crazy people ever thought for one minute, just what in the hell are we going to do when Sarah has her period!!! she can't call in to work and tell them she is bloated and she won't be in for seven days until aunt flow leaves!!!!! This is the end of the world as we know it! you crazy republicans better vote for Obama before we all die!!!! OH THE HUMANITY!!!!

Here’s MY take on this..

First..THIS was NOT a Secret NOR is it uncommon..There was NO attempt to MAKE it a secret either..
Second..There ARE comments on the site,, by OUR side,, saying that Obama Isn’t behind this Story Breaking..It was Probably Soros’s who FUNDED Media Matters for JUST this thing..
Thirdly..ALL this talk about the welfare of the kids..Who’s gonna take care of them,,etc..
I can think of NO MORE secure a life,,No More a situation for SUPERVISION for the kids then to BE the Children of the President or VP..They;kk have access to the BEST of EVERYTHING..

And Tom..I doubt that right wingers will flock to the other side because of this..McCain MAY or may NOT get their support but ANYONE who gets THAT upset over THIS will NOT switch to the Democrat Party for ANY reason..If ANYTHING,,They’ll just stay home..

lOOK THE CHRSITIAN RIGHT should be outraged by a 17 yr old being pregnant out of wedlock.. But as usual the republicans are so desparate that they are now clinging to anything they can because they see the end is near.. I did some more research into the famous Palin family yesterday .Does anyone knoe that her husband actually has DWI not only that remember during her speech in front of the world when she said that she cancelled the bill on the bridge to nowhere..Well thats not exactly true either... When she was running for office in 2006 she wholeheartedly supported the project. It wasnt until 2007 when she all of a sudden scraped the idea..Even though the Federal government gave her state almost 220 million for that exact project..My question is where did the money go??? Not only that she also said that she was against pork belly earmarks..But in 2008 she has been actively trying to give Exxon/Mobil over 2 billion dollars.. So what we have here is a BIG LIAR..and a fake

1. The Chrisatian Right might not be happy over this but they are FAR from the intolerant neanderthals that YOU would have evrybody believe..And that YOU apparently ARE…
2. So WHAT if she wanted the Bridge,,She probably STILL does..She simply opposed Funds being DIVERTED for it..Those Funds went to STATEWIDE Projects as they were INTENDED to go..
3. Her Husband’s DUI was from 20 Years ago..You forgot to mention that SHE got a ticket for fishing without a License..Ohhh..The Humanity…
4. Nothing pork barrel in working with the Oil Companies to DRILL for Oil or run a natural Gas Popeline..

You Kissy,, are SO out of touch and consumed with your personal Hatred that NO amount of common decency and common courtesy exists anymore..Get HELP before we see you on the News..
