If John McCain is elected in November, he'll be 72 years old. Beating out Ronald Reagan for the oldest U.S. president ever elected. Reagan was 69 was he was sworn in.

I can fully buy into 40 being the new 30, and 50 being the new 40. But, for most of us, when you hit 70 years old, the ball is rolling down hill. Fast!

Folks, McCain isn't applying for a greeter job at Walmart. But president of the United States of American! It's a demanding job with great responsibility that's turned men old and grey before they're time.

There's plenty of people over 70 running major corporations, I understand. Rupert Murdock, the man who owns FOX, is one of them. But Mr. Murdoch is a rare gem.

But, hey, maybe McCain is too. I don't know.

Your turn.

Judging by McCain's speeches and public appearances over this past week, with their awkwardness in speaking and poor command of facts and train of thought, he doesn't cut the mustard for the presidency, whether or not those deficiencies have anything to do with his age.

America is one of the only countrys who show little to no respect for it's elders, I think it's sad when someone who has years of wisdom is put out to pasture and yet someone who has no experience and is nothing but an empty suit is idolized as a God..I guess it shows that Americans are just as dumb as a rock, and how easy the sheeple can be lead around by a simple carrot in front of their nose.

VOTE FOR OBAMA IN 08 HE'LL LOWER GAS PRICES!!!

Age doesn't necessarily equal wisdom or experience, which are revealed in the ideas one sets forth, the perceptions one projects and the way in which one expresses oneself. What's really sad in America is how so many in it show little to no respect for the English language in spelling and grammar.

I respect my elders. But, let's face it, 72 is no spring chicken. I'm not saying McCain isn't alert or fit enough to handle the job. But I can't help but wonder.

My dad is almost 70. I use to think that was ancient, however, my dad still does just about everything he did when he was 40. President is a stressfull job however it is his decision making that will matter, not his physical age.
And Tom, the greeters at Wal-Mart are NOT 70, they are like 100 LOL :)

Come on, if McCain could survive being a POW, he can survive as president. I don't care for him much, but he is a helluva lot better choice for president than saynothingdonothingknownothing Obama. More often than not it takes years to gain experience, and Obama has neither.

I'm not concerned with his age as much as I am concerned with who he surrounds himself with. I want to know who will be advising him. Are they going to be honorable and do the right thing, or are they going to be like all the rest? Liars, Theives, Murderers, Cheaters, Adulterers, Arrogant?

My money is on the 72 year old, but I've never been a winner at gambling.

sipedo.. Liars, Theives, Murders, Dheaters, Adulterers, Arrogant... Oh no.. McCain is a Republican.. they actually will make people step down and be held accountable. Its Democrats that continue to collect them...

To McCain and age.. Anyone remember the first Star Trek where Capt. Pike was wheeled around in some black box of a wheelchair with 3 flashing colored lights that flashed once or twice for yes or no questions? ROF! If McCain ever comes missing, I know it will be because the giant veiney headed alien guys came down and took him back!

OK Time to go make some coffee...

Another lib diversion. It is a statement couched as a question. It's true purpose is to cast doubt over McCain and help elect the uberlib Obama.

I'm not seeing the issue. There are plenty of reasons that I'm not crazy about McCain, but age has nothing to do with it.

You all know the old addage "you can't get the job without the experience and you can't get the experience without getting the job". I also believe this is just another ploy by the media to bolster their stand on who they want in office.

Correct. In this case "media" means Tom.

Yea we must be out of our heads to have McCain serving at a national level! Maybe we should stick to the young whippersnappers like Sen Robert Byrd, or Kennedy! Someone needs to tell them that its the JUDICIAL that has a lifetime appointment...

But.. for balance, we did have Thurmond around for a very long time...

Easy does it their Tom Todays 40 is yesterday 30.....You just didn't take care of yourself when you had the chance and now your paying for it, plus when ever a man dys his hair it shows he is trying to hide something, Manly men just go gray gracefully, ya know kind of like wear it like a badge of honer...Of course America will always have the sensiblejoes who are the followers and show no respect for someone who has been around. My buddy has a little punk son who knows it all and yet he is making a whopping 7 bucks an hour and still can't hold down a job...

Tom...you must have missed the other old saying..."The Older, the wiser"! And for an older man, McCain is still kicking a high kick! Here's another one..."Respect your elders!"

I took plenty care of myself, still do. And, yes, I highlight my hair. I'm in TV! I work with young, beauty women, I gotta look good, and I know, it ain't easy. But this isn't about me, it's about a 72-year-old guy running for president. If you want, I'll start a blog about me and my looks, and you can go at it.

What in the world can make a brown eyed girl turn blue. When everything I ever do I do for you. And I say La LA LA LA LA, she's got the look.

Tom, hows about growin' a goat? Then you might have "THE LOOK".

Bottom line. McCain is not too old. Maybe a little too bald, but not too old.

He's old but he's in great shape for his age. I wouldn't consider age a hinderance to him.

McCain ain't Ronald Reagan. In addition to his being old, he also is pretty beat up both physically and mentally. In addition to his high stress political life, his years as a POW had to take a mental/emotional toll.

McCain may be older, but he's still sharp as a tack, and HE damn sure doesn't have ANY ties to ANY STINKING, SANDSCORPION, AL-QAEDA TERRORISTS, like Mr. Barak Obama does. Don't think there aren't SOME of us who haven't looked into HIS family tree!
Shadows, I actually think McCain having been a POW is an asset to him being an excellent strategic military leader. I strongly believe that active military experience should be a prerequisite to ones becoming President.

He seems to do pretty good with his rich, not so bad looking wife.

If a 72 yo can keep up with the rigors of maritial responsibilites...he can handle a weekly briefing or two.

Ike played golf in his dotage and did a pretty good job.

The real issue is who will be the VP, in case Mrs McCain causes Jonnie Boy to expire some Thursday evening?

I am going to decide on my vote partially based on their running mates.

Sussi, you crack me up. Funny how CLinton did nothing for Flint and Michigan in 8 years and she is supported there. Funny how you are loving this inexperienced guy to run the largest enterprise in the world.

I want to apply for the head of Fox and NEws Corp... opps... I have business experience, Obama cant even run that. I am over qualified according to you.

Use your head man.

I think it's bad enough the discrimination with Obama (me), but to discriminate about McCain being too old for president? COME ON!!! The guy was in the military and has experience in that area. I would vote for him 110% over Obama just because Obama doesn't know what the hell he's talking about half the time. He can't even be truthful about his own family. God help us all!!!
