It's a thought I'm sure many of you have alreay entertained. But today, I am officially confirming it.

I have chronic pain in my coccyx. Have had it now for the past 10 months or so.

For those of you not familiar with the coccyx, take your hand and feel down to the tip of your tailbone. That, friends, is your coccyx.

I have coccdynia. Chronic pain of the coccyx. And, believe me when I tell you, it's a real pain in the a--!

Mostly, it hurt when I sit. Either riding in a car or sitting at my desk working. In fact, my coccyx hurts right now as I blog. But I'm playing through the pain just for you.

But I'm not alone. Turns out, my photographer, Scott, too has coccdynia. Scott's pain, so he claims, is more intense. Truth be know, he's sort of a wuss, though.

There are days, when Scott and I are heading to a story, when Scott yells, "Switch!" It's our cue to sit on the other butt cheek! I'm not joking. To relieve some of the pain, we switch cheeks during our trips.

Hang on.

Switch!

I feel for you both. Is there any cure for this? Acupuncture for your pain. It might work.

wow..Tom...I know that pain..as I had a fractured coccyx and THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE AS YOU KNOW THE AREA.....it is unoperatable.......so I SYMPATHIZE with you...AND THE ONLY RELIEF I GET IS SITTING IN THE THROWN........you got it the bowl..LOL...

I had a really bad fall a few years ago THAT HAS LEFT ME WORTH FOR BLEEP...sitting long periods JUST IS SO PAINFUL AND OVERWHELMING..but I was giving pain killers and I have to take them or else I can't function...I would suggest advil if you don't want to take anything else that's narcatic ..

Also, I was recommended to use a DONUT..which I hate and refuse to use it. GOOD LUCK TO YOU..

I guess we have something in common..WOOF WOOFF..

meant to say anything else that's not narcotic. truthfully, I am addicted because I have been on these pain killers since 2001 date of accident.....without them...my body just can't function and of course, with all my resent stress it is even more painful. I pray some day I will be able to throw in the towel, sort of speak, but for now when I have to do extensive walking or sitting..I have to take my pills or the pain just overwhelmes me. Again, so sorry for your pain..maybe we can have AN aZZ PAIN CLUB......LOL..AT our age..its no joke. I guess if I was at least 15 years younger...well heck I NEVER FELT ANY PAIN..until that dreadful fall my body took

I feel for you , I am now famous for never siting down ! I will stand for hours to avoid taking a seat. This is a “white man's” disease because we have no Butt...the radical solution is cheek implants, but that is a bit much so...

Do you have an ergonomic chair ? Aron makes a few that have an open space in the right location to take the pressure off , you can also find car seat covers with a cleft cut up the center to take the pressure off...now as for Scott we both know that you are constantly bending down to work with your camera (you know where your pants wind up when you do this LOL) try to not bend , put the cam on a table , car hood or even the seat of the van anything to not take the “position”..one knee on the ground.

There's no way in hell, I'm getting cheek implants! I'm a TV Reporter, not a stripper!

Yea with what they cost you would have to come up with an excuse to face away from the camera ! LOL but do get a good chair ! Best thing I ever did was spend a few hundred on the one I am sitting in. I saw it a David Nixon's edit studio and new I had to have it.

LOL , I have been told I have a nice butt by some of my dates but I know it is pure charity on their part ! Hey Tom I just remembered something, years ago I concentrated on this very problem for a young boy who is wheelchair bound (no butt , constant pain, even skin problems) I discovered that we could use a “FES” (functional electro stimulator) to build up that muscle (it is hard to build this one up with exercise) with only a few minuets a day we where able to add a full inch of “padding” to the affected area....a lot cheaper than implants !

I've fallen and bruised my tail-bone and that hurt for months. The pain just shoots up the back. It went away. Have you fallen in the last few months?

Tom, you're good at getting businesses to comply with the needs of people, so perhaps you can negotiate a hot tub and massage therapist during work hours for you and your staff. And if you're required to run and chase these scoundrels down, then like a good athlete, the News Station needs to keep you conditioned in which to do so...lol.

Tom, Remind me when you come by next week to have you sit in the Sweedish masaging chair for a few. It will take care of all pains and aches. Look at me, im held together with 19 pounds of metal and it gets me to relax some.

And no Tom, its not going to massage your Butt so dont even ask that one.lol

Seems everyone who comes over to visit only comes to relax in my chair.lol
