What's going on with people? I have to admit that I don't like it when a cop abuses their power, there are bad apples in every profession. Here we have a cop just doing his job, early on a Sunday morning and he gets shot in the head. I don't blame a police officer who has his hand on his weapon even when doing a traffic stop. This city has gone nuts. He got up this morning, had his breakfast, maybe said bye to his wife to go do what we pay him to do and now he's shot. ANYONE who shots a cop is an even more danger to the community than any other criminal. I pray for him and his family and for the quick apprehension of the sicko piece of garbage that did this.

Okay bloggers and Fox viewers, enquiring minds want to know, who is your favorite Fox 26 personality? List them as 1 2 and 3. The 2008 year has seen them report on many story's and all were pros. We regulars will contribute for a gift card or something. This just shows OUR appreciation for the great work they do. Unlike these other local stations, FOX 26 folks are not snobby and take time to talk to you. They dont act above you either. Anyway, it's an idea I've been thinking about a little while. Who's all with me? If no one wants to pitch in for a gift card for them, I will buy the winner lunch at Niko Niko's.
Okay me first.
1 Carolyn Canville - She reports the whole story and isn't one sided, very pro and several Emmy's.
2. Andrea Watkins - Great reporting during Hurricane Ike and deserving an an award for her exhaustive reporting on the island during the storm.
3. Tom Zizka - He dives into a story and gets the facts right. He is very interactive with the chatters and the community.
Honorable mentions: Kristi Powers - Detailed weather reports, dresses classy, interactive with chatters oh and did I mention easy on the eyes..
Sibila Vargas - A real people person and though I never met her I bet she is really cool, great addition to Fox 26
Doug Delony - This guy is overworked and underpaid, great tech advice and interactive with chatters. Bet he's a hoot in person.
Ruben D. The Rubester, another over-worked and underpaid one. This guy can do traffic and special events, can wear different hats.
So many to mention and I really like them all. Okay your turn!

Well it seems the good ol' boy attitude remains in the DA's office and will continue to do so after the swearing in. It was said there wasn't evidence of wrongdoing? HELLO? If anyone who works for a company has the same stuff on their business computers like Chucky boy did that person would be fired, in the case of the DA who held a public office he should be held even more accountable for his actions. It's the same thing that's been going on in the DA's office and will continue to be so in the future. It's about this so-called "professional courtesy". Kinda like when a cop pulls over an off duty cop and doesn't give a ticket. I guess some of us are above others as this points out to be.

A couple days ago a store I've stopped in a couple times was robbed. Behind the counter a man, just another clerk, was shot and killed for no reason. All he was doing was his job. Some news stations report it, some dont. It's just another statistic of living in this great city called Houston. I've lived here 45 years, I've seen and lived through a couple robberies, even fought back and won. Yet this man, he cooperated, but was killed. These two worthless crackheads, dope fiends, whatever, cowardly shot this man. I never knew him personally, said hello and he returned with a "good morning". I think its time for people to stand up, to not take this from worthless dope heads who really need to be wiped off the earth. Harsh? No, I would gladly take a hard working person over 20 dope addicted worthless scumbags anyday. This on Thanksgiving? Yup...do I have sympathy for these worthless animals? No way... People against the death penalty need to wake up and smell the coffee. The only good crackhead is a dead crackhead. Just my opinion.

Yes Ladies and Gents it's the Silly season. With Thanksgiving here and Christmas and New Years around the corner we must watch and observe..what do we watch for? Is it robbers and cut-throats..well yea..but there are those we watch out for and they are closer than you think. These are friends, family, co-workers. No I dont mean they are going to rob you, I mean as we see the silly season pass us, there are those who are having a rough time of it, sad, lonely, depressed. For example, that lady in Dallas who jumped off a bridge in front of a truck. With the economy going banana's, and less money for spending it can add even more pressure. Smile, tallk to them..I mean really talk to them and hear how they are really doing. I too am guilty of the "how are you"? and not really paying attention but this is the time we really need to pay attention to people. Actually take time to sit down and listen, offer hope, a turkey dinner, anything, but keep them out of that sad spirit that I'm sure all of us have felt. I joke and laugh with everyone and I try to make someone smile as much as I can. I want to see the same people, bloggers, reporters, co-workers, bum on the street when New Years rolls arouund. Remember it's not about what we have, it's about who we are.

Heres a new Site put up for the general public to watch live streaming video of several Border cameras. The ones that were set up a while back ago were shut down. I think this is just interesting.

Kudos to Precinct 7 Constables office for ticketing speeders here on Smith Street in Midtown. There have been accidents and people getting hit by cars in this area. Constables were out in force ticketing speeders and a big High Five to them. We here who live and work in Midtown do appreciate the great work the officers are doing, thanks Constable Walker for having great officers on your watch.
