After this week in the race for the White House I have to wonder just how far out of touch the canidates are with the average american. Obama advises parent to teach their kids spanish??? Maybe not a bad idea especially if you are unfortunate enough to live in Kissimmee or Deltona but not the kind of thing one says if he is trying to get your vote. Can anyone say Liberal Elite??? Then we have that Maverick McCain fresh off his trip to Latin America promoting free trade. Never mind losing that manufacturing job to a Mexico. Anyway who does McCain have as an economic adviser? That good old Texan Sen. Phil Graham. The same one who had a hand in bringing us Enron. Well Phil seems to think the economic downturn in this country is "a mental recession" and called the United States “a nation of whiners.”  Huh??? Let me ask Phil when the last time he had to check his checking account balance before filling up his limo with gas, or trying to fill up a shopping cart with groceries. He is right in one aspect though, we are doing plenty of whinning right now and its in large part due to boneheads like him who have screwed everything up!

Our whining is caused from their own whining because they have been caught not doing their jobs! People are starting to get smart about the lack of their jobs they have done and damages they have cause! So I wouldn't call what we are doing whining but more like demanding....they are still whining!

ALL politicians are way out of touch with the average American- all politicians in DC or state level are already wealthy, they dont worry about the cost of a gallon of gas or if they can meet their mortgage , or having to find money to repair the car etc.

nope politics is an elitist job now.

Obama seems far more in touch with middle class, working class America than McCain. That's the background he came from; McCain didn't, coming as he did from well-heeled roots. Obama knows what to means to have to work hard and overcome barriers to rise above, in the face of prejudice, to boot. In addition, his career includes hands-on experience in running programs (some of them faith-based) to help working class people with job training and college education. McCain doesn't have anything to match in that department.

As a Business owner, I never hired ANYONE without some experience to run any of my business and this clown Obama wants to apply for a job with nothing. Are the Liberals nuts?

Joe, Obama never did a days work in his life. Everything was handed to him via one government program or another. I do not know of any, I repeat any programs he ran. He didn't know of any prejudice until he met his America hating wife who also had everything handed to her.

I did some research over the weekend into the backrounds of both Obama & McCain. Both have very limited experience in the private sector. Obama spent a little time as an attorney and he did run some agencies that focused on helping lower income types. Most likely with some sort of gov. funding. Oh, he has also wrote several books. The only mention of McCain working in the "real world" that I could find said he was a VP for his inlaws beer distribution company.

OK.. STOP THE PITY PARTY!!

The defeatest attitude around here is ridiculous. Here is a suggestion, STOP LETTING THE MEDIA LEAD YOU BY THE NOSE!!!

TJ, you complain about only having certain choices left for you, and then site EXACTLY what the mainstream media pumps out as propaganda talking points!

Rich get richer? Middle Class gets squeezed? I hear this almost daily, yet I see alot of "middle class" CHOOSE to stand in line wrapped around the Apple store to replace a 4 hundred dollar phone that works!! Its the "middle class" that fights for the latest video games and techno toy at the store! Gas prices go up, but milk is still more a gallon, water at 16 bucks, and coffee at almost 60 bucks a gallon and we stand in line for it too!

The parking lot at Lowes, HomeDepot, Target, KMart, Walmart, the mall, still full. Still see money being spent at every major sporting event! I don't see McDonalds, BurgerKing, KC, etc getting borded up and closing.

We only now after YEARS of blaming Big Oil on gas prices suddenly the focus switches to Speculators, and NOBODY questions why? Who was misleading who?

Liberals come out for "change" EVERY election cycle that I can remember, and everytime liberals fall for, YEA! ABOUT TIME!

Here is the ugly truth... Until Americans start being honest with themselves, then they will not get any truth from anyone! When you buy into the ridiculous points made, and in here I usually debunk more than 90% of them, yet the folks on the left just go to another room, and throw it right back up on the wall again!!

Here is my adv

So much talk about upper class and middle class and so little insight in the the “class” that most impacts us all...the “elitist class” . This class is truly out of touch and it contains all life-long political pundits . Our “leaders” are immune to the affects of the decisions they make and in so are free to do things that do not work, and that have grave consequences but will not affect them in any way! Fact is that the “rich” being rich and the “poor” being poor has no effect on the middle class at all unless the government gets involved.

George Washington, Ben Franklin, and John Adams were all confronted with the same skepticism Obama is facing by the Loyalist of their day. Some Loyalist died of old age believing that it was a mistake in breaking with England. However, our forefather’s persevered to build the most powerful nation on the planet. They knew that the continued imperialist drag England was forcing upon the Colonies would enslave America forever. Today we are facing an imperialist regime under Bush- McCain that is certain to enslave America to corporate greed. A change is needed, and the time is now.

Yes that is the wonderful Mrs. TavaresJim featured on my avatar. I am truly blessed with a wonderful life. Lived in Tavares since 1975. It was a great place to grow up...now there are just too many people!!! 44yrs old, married for 23 years. 21yr old son & 14 yr old daughter. Business owner trying to live the American Dream. Kinda tough though with the idiots we have running things. My current favorite bumper sticker saying: "George Bush & Congress, bringing the 3rd world to your neighborhood". I follow no party lines when it comes to issues and I don't trust those that do. I like to make up my own mind about things.
