With our economy going straight down the toilet you would think McCain and Obama would be using all the free media attention they are getting to outline just how they are going to "fix" things. I try and stay informed and I have yet to hear details come out of either canidate. Obama has the "run out the clock" plan going in full swing and he ain't saying squat. McCain is touring central & south america promoting Free Trade (huh)? One of the very things that has put us in this mess!!! What kind of knucklehead is running his campaign? Is McCain trying to lose votes? Please, someone share some ecouraging news with us concerning either canidate and what they will do when it comes to issues that really matter.

Obama will say about anything that will get him votes. How much truth is in what he is promissing is another story. I don't believe a word he says, period. As for McCain seeking free trade in Central and South America, I can only imagine he is doing this to try to lessen our dependence on Chinas' trade. That may also increase the competition in the market lowering the prices and inproving the quality of the product.

Last I looked McCain was advocating the revamping of our unfair trade agreements including an offer by Peru to drop its high import tariffs if we agree to set ours at the same level as theirs ...but If you thing McCain is getting “air time” you are sadly mistaken...all American TV broadcasts are running what can only be Called “ Obomathan 08”.
The only news I saw about this was Obama himself in a speech in New Mexico (and again in California and Texas) in his own words promising free health care to all illegals who come here ...but that would be accusing him of something just because he actually said it !

Here is a link that seems to outline McCains stand on trade: http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/John_McCain_Free_Trade.
htm

I support most of Pat Buchanans stand on trade. Its high time we put the best interest of the american public 1st.

Google was strangely silent with Obama & health care for illegals with the execption of a speech that has him promising coverage for 48 million uninsured. Current claims are that 37 million american citizens lack coverage and it was implied that the other 11 million were illegals. What there is no question on is Obama's support for issuing drivers licenses to illegals.

...darn thing is not loading ! My fault I spend way to much time watching Obama and hating every plan he has ...so I am bad because I am not looking at McCain as much as I should.
On trade it is high time we demand an end to “free trade” and demand Fair trade ! NAFTA was not really a bad thing when it was first written..but over time it has been shot full of holes and as is always the case we are the only ones that are not getting any advantage of any of those loopholes. RE: NAFTA and CAFTA both started at an agreement to trade on “equal” footing IE we would cap... our import taxes if our “trade partners” did the same , that lasted about 10 seconds ! We have held our import taxes down but not one of our partners has kept that commitment...time to chuck it all and start over!

Here is what the boys say for themselves ....McCain is short on the subject but has voted in his current office to actually make changes

John McCain Will Lower Barriers To Trade. Ninety-five percent of the world's customers lie outside our borders and we need to be at the table when the rules for access to those markets are written. To do so, the U.S. should engage in multilateral, regional and bilateral efforts to reduce barriers to trade, level the global playing field and build effective enforcement of global trading rules. These steps would also strengthen the U.S. dollar and help to control the rising cost of living that hurts our families.

Obama talks a great game ! To bad he has never put his money where his mouth is so far....

Obama believes that trade with foreign nations should strengthen the American economy and create more American jobs. He will stand firm against agreements that undermine our economic security.
Fight for Fair Trade: Obama will fight for a trade policy that opens up foreign markets to support good American jobs. He will use trade agreements to spread good labor and environmental standards around the world and stand firm against agreements like the Central American Free Trade Agreement that fail to live up to those important benchmarks. Obama will also pressure the World Trade Organization to enforce trade agreements and stop countries from continuing unfair government subsidies to foreign exporters and nontariff barriers on U.S. exports.
Amend the North American Free Trade Agreement: Obama believes that NAFTA and its potential were oversold to the American people. Obama will work with the leaders of Canada and Mexico to fix NAFTA so that it works for American workers.
Improve Transition Assistance: To help all workers adapt to a rapidly changing economy, Obama would update the existing system of Trade Adjustment Assistance by extending it to service industries, creating flexible education accounts to help workers retrain, and providing retraining assistance for workers in sectors of the economy vulnerable to dislocation before they lose their jobs.

obama has necer held a productive job in his life, he has no idea what it is like to have to work for a living, everything he owns was given to him including the plush mortgage deal he got on his 1+million dollar home, he has been getting paid 165000 per year with a 2 year vacation wwhile on the trail same with mccain and hillary, they are taking 2 yrs offf their day job at full pay nice job , only fifference the other two have held jobs, with mccain being the only one not born with a silver spoon. obama is all talk and will take this contry in a very dangerous direction, he has zero international policy except for wanting to have talks with the likes of n korea iran iraq and chavez, who would love to see him win, if you want to vote for a president vote for the opposite one your enemies would vote for

Obama is awesome! Anyone with a brain will see he is very intelligent, the best man for the job! Young and old alike (with brains) will vote for him. McCain is old and washed up, has NO new ideas! What this country needs is CHANGE big time! If you want our country to go down the drain like it is now (thanks to W. Bush), then vote for McCain, if you have any brains at all, you will vote for Obama! He will be a great president and we will have some intelligence in the white house for a change.

Yes that is the wonderful Mrs. TavaresJim featured on my avatar. I am truly blessed with a wonderful life. Lived in Tavares since 1975. It was a great place to grow up...now there are just too many people!!! 44yrs old, married for 23 years. 21yr old son & 14 yr old daughter. Business owner trying to live the American Dream. Kinda tough though with the idiots we have running things. My current favorite bumper sticker saying: "George Bush & Congress, bringing the 3rd world to your neighborhood". I follow no party lines when it comes to issues and I don't trust those that do. I like to make up my own mind about things.
