It will be one month on the 8th of September since my hero passed away. I was honored to have know this man all my life and I was blessed to be able to hold his hand as he step out of this life and into the arms of his one true love, my mother. When she passed in April of this year he told her not to walk to fast and he would catch up. I guess after spending 63 years as man and wife being alone was not something either of them could do. I am sure that they are now dancing among the clouds and watching over this family.
My THANK YOU belongs to HOSPICE OF LAKE COUNTY. These angels on earth made my Dad's final days bearable. They provided love, attention, concern, care and their valuable time to stay with us as we all worked to make his passing as easy as possible. He had fought Colon Cancer for 8 years and the last thing we wanted for him was to have to end in days filled with pain. If the women of Hospice had not been here I am sure I would not have had the strength to endure what was coming. There are not any words in the English language to really express the depth of Thanks we feel for HOSPICE and its care-givers. In a very short time they became a part of this family and we will ALWAYS be grateful for every moment they spent with us.
THANK YOU HOSPICE OF LAKE COUNTY.

I caught just the tail end of a news story about the Lake County Sheriffs Dept not being able to use their Sub-Station in the Lake Square Mall because so many of the officers have gotten sick with cramps and flu like symptoms. I was really curious about this because I have 3 daughters who all work at the same mall very close to this Sub-Station and they too have been having the same kind of symptoms for over a year now. We thought it was some kind of intestinal problem and they have seen several doctors that can not figure out what the problem is. I am wondering if anyone else caught this story or if they know anything further about it and could share it with me. Also is there anyone else out there suffering the way my kids have that works at this mall too??
Just a concerned Mom here looking for answers and help.
Oh Fox, could this possibly be a story you might want to check into??

Ok the other day I was filling up my Truck and boom at $50.00 the pump shuts off and tells me I have reached my gas limit. My truck which is an essential part of my business takes $75.00 to $100.00 to fill up but will last me several weeks. I went inside and asked about this "limit" and was told that it was not the stations doing but my credit card companies. LOL I wasn't using a credit card I used the business DEBIT card and always have. Never had any limits in the 9 years I have use it either. That debit card is atttached to an account JUST FOR TRUCK EXPENSES by the way. So I waited until the next day and called my bank to inquire about this. They told me there was absolutly NO restrictions on that account. Then today I hear on the news about gas stations imposing gas limits.
Ok so for what purpose are they doing this now? Do we have a gas shortage all of a sudden? Are we heading for the 70's again with odd/even days? Are the owners just not willing to pay over the top prices to keep their station tanks full because if they are selling for less they have to fill them more often? I don't get it...what could the possible benifit be to setting a 'GAS LIMIT' on paying customers? hummm....maybe it has to do with a increase in "fill and go" complaints?

As the care taker for an ailing Father, I deal with these doctors on an almost daily basis, because Florida seems to be a hot bed for them. I have looked for American Educated Physicians but they are in short supply here it seems. I have had to switch doctors so many times because the level of care is substandard, and or the language barriers make it very difficult to explain the problems my Dad is having. He has cancer so it is impairative that his health care be managed carefully, yet I am finding that is an almost impossible task. While I don't want to condem all foreign doctors I must say that the majority I have had to deal with leave me wondering just what kind of health care is really being provided.
Here is my story:
Both my parents were seeing a doctor in Lady Lake who is listed as a Pulmonary Doctor yet his practices in an office run by a Sleep Disorder Doctor. Within this office is an Emergency Walk In Clinic and now they have a Pharmacy as well. For the 2 years he treated my Mom (who has now passed away) he never examined her physically. He would sit at his computer, ask her questions and hand her a prescription for a new drug or an increase in the ones she was already taking. My mom had COPD and a sever heart conditon but for 15 years it had been managed very well and she was only required to take 3 medications. When she moved here this doctor took her off 2 of those telling her they were not needed. As her condition started to decline over the course of 2 years his answer was a new pill. By the time she died she was taking a total of 15 pills twice a day. I tried to talk her into finding a new doctor but everytime she would say something to this one he would send her to see yet another foregin specialist and ALWAYS one of his nationality. After she passed away, I was handed the responsibility of being my fathers Health Surrogate. The last straw for me was when I asked this doctor about the number of pills he was now wanting my father to take and why he why my father HAD to have his prescriptions filled in the new pharmacy they had, instead of his regular pharmacy, his answer was that he could no longer treat my father and tried to refer us to another "friend" of his. I asked him to refer us to a doctor that I had located that was US trained and he refused. Needless to say I requested all of my fathers records, which turned out to be nothing more than a bunch of computer printouts with NO DOCTORS NOTES and scheduled for him to see the new Doctor. His new doctor was horrified at his records as they held no information about his condition or the treatments he had been recieving. Just a list of medicines with no explination for why they were given. While I we have been lucky in finding a GOOD doctor finally I can't help but wonder about the many who aren't as lucky.
DISCLAIMER: I know that there are a few of you that are going to read this and think I am being racist because I have seemingly targeted doctors from other countries but my concern is NOT with where they come from but their ability to practice medicine. It has been my personal experiences that fuel this concern, as well as the recent arrests, investigations and alligations all centered around foreign doctors. So if you have a doctor from outside the US that you love, I am glad for you but that has not been my experience.

In reading the news today, I saw an article where they believe that 2 foreign Doctors that have been arrested for possible Terrorist activities (the failed car bombing in England) had applied to the US last year to work in the States as physicians, but just never took the test. This got me to thinking and I wonder if we need to halt the influx of foreign doctors that have taken up practice here?

People..it is STATE LAW that you TURN ON YOUR HEADLIGHTS WITH YOUR WIPERS! In the last two days with the heavy downpours of rain here in Lake County, I have seen so many people driving without headlights on. Do you understand that cars with LIGHT COLORS (white, silver, blue, etc) DISAPPEAR from view in a heavy rain?? YOU CAN NOT BE SEEN until you hit your brakes if you don't have your HEADLIGHTS on! In really congested traffic YOU ARE AN ACCIDENT LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO HAPPEN! It is also advised that you turn on your hazard lights just to make yourself more visable just like you would do in a heavy fog! HIGHBEAMS DON'T WORK THEY INCREASE YOUR INABILITY TO SEE AHEAD OF YOU! You may not care much about anyone around you but I do care and I resent your lazy attitude and your willingness to PLACE ME AND MY PASSENGERS AT RISK! So TURN THEM ON OR STAY THE HELL HOME until the rain stops!

I would like to encourage ALL AMERICANS regardless of religion, race, culture, beliefs or politics to FLY THEIR AMERICAN FLAG TODAY ...UPSIDE DOWN!!
We ARE a nation in DISTRESS and we need to make that message clear to ALL our politicians!
For all those men and women dying in Iraq and for all those who have fought for this country in the past, it is time WE the AMERICAN PEOPLE joined in this fight! We may not be on the front lines but we here need to fight just as hard. We need to fight to preserve the AMERICAN HERITAGE, CULTURE, BELIEFS AND SYSTEM from those on our home soil that seek to distroy it.
So fly it high and fly it proud....just FLY IT UPSIDE DOWN!

The husband and I stopped at the local Hess Station yesterday to grab a cold drink. Sitting in front of one of the pumps was a big black Ford Expedition. This thing was tricked out to the 9's. Standing at the back leaning against the SUV was a guy in designer shorts and shirt with gold around his neck and wrists. We thougth it odd that he would approach each person that pull in but it wasn't until we came out of the store that both the husband and I were floored by what he was doing. Before we could pull out of the parking space he was at my husbands window. When my husband rolled it down to ask what he wanted the guy asked us if we had any money for gas because SUV was running low and he didn't have the cash to put gas in it. My husband told him sorry but he didn't have any cash so the guy asked if he had an ATM Card he might be able to use. Shocked my husband again replied no and started to roll up his window. The guy smacked the side of our truck then called us several profane names and told us he had our license number and he wouldn't forget it. He then stomped back off to his SUV and sat waiting for the next person. So what would you have done?

A month ago I got a ticket for not wearing my seatbelt, despite the fact that the officer pulled me for what he claimed was doing 49 in a 30 ( wreckless driving in Fl) but he was going to be kind(?) and let that go in favor of the NO SEAT BELT infraction. (rolling eyes)
I was going to go to court on this because I object to the whole "seat belt" thing but life got in the way with the passing of my mother suddenly and the new responsibility of now taking care of an elderly father with cancer. 15 days before the payment was due I promptly made out my check for my donation to the city via the clerk of courts and sent it off in the mail. I wasn't worried because it only had to go across town. Then much to my surprise one day after the 30 days I get MY check back from the clerks office telling me it was damaged and they could not deposit it. I was instructed to write a new check and send it but now I had a LATE FINE for not paying on time. My $76.00 cost jumped to $90.00+...oh and my license was going to be suspended! I immediately called the clerk office and inquired when they recieved the check and why I was being held accountable for them ripping my check up when they opened the envelope? I was told that it took 12 DAYS for that check to go from Leesburg to Travares and that someone at the post office must have torn it but if I sent the new payment the next day ALONG WITH THE LATE FINE, then they could remove the suspension from my record BEFORE it got to TALLAHASSEE. When I complained about being charged the LATE FINE and asked for a copy of the torn envelope they recieved I was told I could not have it since it was part of my case, so I could not go to the post office and file a complaint and the clerk was not going to accept responsiblility because that would mean they couldn't charge the Late fine since it was their doing! So rather POed I sent a new check the next day and watched my bank like a hawk for it to clear. It was cleared in one day! I then get a second letter from the clerks office that it has been taken care of and that all I need to do is take this letter to the DMV to have THEM remove the suspension from my license even thought it has not acutally been sent to TALLAHASSEE yet. I take my letter and head to the DMV that day. Low and behold I am told that there will be a $47.00 charge to remove this suspension THAT ISN'T REALLY ON MY LICENSE and requires nothing more than typing the words PAID IN FULL on my record!
This ticket is now costing me over $100.00 BECAUSE THIS SYSTEM AND ITS EMPLOYEES CAN'T DO THEIR JOBS CORRECTLY! So much for justice I guess. Even when you do things THEIR WAY you get screwed!

Ok so maybe it is just me, but I am finding it very interesting that on a daily basis you can find posts full of fluff such as Paris Hiltons latest breakdown or posts about mundane issues that are either long dead but when a post that offers information relevant to issues that actually effect us all are submitted they NEVER make the Community page?
With the Property Tax issue still hot as ever I posted for those who read here a list of links for the big counties budgets both past and present. I also posted a story found on our Governers OFFICIAL web page where he claims the "new and wonderful" Propert Tax Cut is the LARGEST TAX CUT IN THE HISTORY OF FLORIDA and calls it "the people tax cut". And finally I posted a blog with the link for Charlies e-mail so that if someone wanted to drop him a line they could, but NOT ONE of those blogs made their way to the COMMUNITY PAGE. To find them one would have to go to ALL NEWS BLOGS and sort through the dozens upon dozens of blogs that were passed over.
So my question is this FOX...Why is it that usefull information that is RELEVANT TO CURRENT ISSUES passed over and PARIS, TORTISES, AND URINE TEST given priority? Is this just another form of the News sticking to the FUN STUFF in hopes that the REAL TOUGH ISSUES will be forgotten or is it just plain good old fashioned censorship going on??
Lets see if this one makes the Community page??

I just couldn't help myself I had to send Charlie my heartfelt thanks...maybe you should too!
Heres the link to send : http://www.flgov.com/contact_form
And here is a copy of my letter:
Dear Mr. Crist;
I wanted to express to you my most hearfelt thanks for the Property Tax Reform that you and those hard working men and women in Tallahassee have provided the citizens of Florida. It is wonderful to see that I was not disappointed in your LACK of understanding, compassion or determination to fix this problem. Your unselfish concern for those who put you in office is so delightly rewared with this new tax cut that you so readily called the "people tax cut".
It is good to see that you like those before you can be easily swayed, bullied and threatened into taking the easy way out all the while insuring that YOU and the others SACRIFICE NOTHING. I would have been greatly surprised if you had displayed some backbone and ACTUALLY did the right thing. That sir is an unheard of principal amoung politician and it is comforting to know that you have NOT broken that mold. Far be it from me to expect anything in the way of honesty or truth when its my money and the money of my fellow tax payers at stake. I will sleep much better tonight knowing that this governor and those who have the power to make my life and that of my children LIVEABLE here in Florida have insured that every penny we make will have to be carefully budgeted. Yes, I know that "budgeting" is a requirement and I have learned how to live within mine. Maybe some day YOU and the individuals running the cities of Florida will learn to live within yours as well. Until that time, I congratulate you for not letting me down or proving me wrong when I said...Crist is just one more in a long line of politicians who doesn't give a hoot about you or I as long as he gets your vote!
Sweet dreams Mr. Crist...you will never again have my vote.
Sincerely,
Drowning in Florida!

I got this straight from Charlies official web site...here is the link if you want to see for yourself... http://www.flgov.com/release/9104

“I congratulate Senate President Ken Pruitt and House Speaker Marco Rubio and the many other legislators who have worked tirelessly to build consensus among the members of the Legislature and deliver the largest tax cut in Florida history. I specifically want to commend Senators Daniel Webster, Steve Geller and Mike Haridopolos and Representatives Dean Cannon and Dan Gelber for their good work. Because everyone worked together, property taxes will drop like a rock.
“This is the people’s tax cut and the power to further cut taxes is now in their hands. On January 29, the people will have the power to cut their taxes in a historic way.
“It is clear that without property insurance and property tax reform, Florida has been becoming unaffordable. I join Floridians across our state in expressing gratitude to the Florida Legislature for listening to the people’s needs. By reining in these high costs, the people of Florida who have been hesitant to become first-time home buyers will once again be able to live the American dream of home ownership. Likewise, people who have been reluctant to move to a home better suited to their needs will once again have the freedom to follow their dreams.
“Thanks to the good work of the Legislature, lower property taxes will ignite the real estate market, and Florida’s economy will continue to boom. By lowering property insurance rates and cutting property taxes, we will create a better bottom line for Floridians, and for Florida.”
WHO THE HELL IS HE TRYING TO KID?? Don't you love all the back patting and congratulations for doing a crappy job at our expense?
Peoples tax cut?? What people would that be?? It just makes me sick! Man is that small hut on Cat Island looking better and better!

This was a reply to a post made that the young man felt the need to remove out of anger. It is however far to important a message to put out there. Everyday in this country there are thousands of women, men and children suffering the crime of rape and believing that it is either their own fault or that it is a crime of sex. If we as responsibile adults ever hope to make a dent in this thinking it is important that we step up at every opportunity and KILL THIS MYTH! Teach the young that it makes no difference who they are or what the other person says...if you say NO! ITS NO!
Charlie ~ YOUR WORDS WERE: but it's not just an Act of Violence, or whatever because I am not the most Attractive person, but I still got Forced. It was because I am weak, and they knew it, and they knew I couldn't protect myself. That's how Guys are.....
AGAIN I SAY TO YOU: but the VERY MOMENT she OR HE says NO, it becomes an act of VIOLENCE AND CONTROL if he FORCES HER.
You were forced because you claim you were weak to engage in a sexual act. THAT IS CONTROL NOT SEX and if you were FORCED then IT IS VIOLENCE NOT SEX.
CHARLIE YOUR WERE WERE: So for the Guys I've been with. It's an Act of Violence? but they let me go home. I don't get it. I've been Forced to do things, but they didn't seem very Angry like most things I've heard of, and all. It's still the same thing. Either way. It's not always an Act of Anger, Violence, or whatever.
ANY MAN OR WOMAN THAT WANTS SEX AND HAS TO USE FORCE TO GET IT IS DISPLAYING CONTROL AND VIOLENCE! You do not have to murder, beat or bloody someone to be violent.
CHARLIE YOUR WORD WERE:I met guys who just wanted the SEX, so they used me for it. They Forced it on to me, so either way. It's the same F**ing thing.
If they just wanted the sex and YOU SAID NO so they took it anyway that is CONTROL AND VIOLENCE.
Answer this...if you didn't believe anything bad would happen WHY DID YOU SAY YES if you really didn't want to have sex?
RAPE IS A CRIME OF CONTROL, ANGER and VIOLENCE AND IT IS NEVER ABOUT SEX!
