Who Wins?

I feel sorry for any Detriot Lions fans today...they kept the perfect season going with a loss to the Packers. The first 0-16 team in NFL history.

So who would win if the Florida Gators played the Lions?

I'd have to say the Gators, but it would be close.

Just watching a little of game 7 tonight and I can't remember a more exciting series in a while. I hope the WS with the Phillys ends up this action packed.

I'll say as a Floridian I'm kinda cheering for the underdog Rays (sorry Keith Landy and all you other Sox fans) but I was kinda glad to see the meltdown in game 5...means I had some more baseball to watch this weekend.

Although I don't get to watch much b-ball during the regular season, I do like the post-season. And I can flip back and forth to the NFL tonight (and FOX 35 News at 10 of course)

closing ceremony is tonight...what will you remember from China?

ANyone already looking forward to London?

My only regret was not seeing any synchronized swimming.

What's your favorite event to watch in the Olympics?

I like watching the b-ball, but also some of the other sports that I really don't care about, except every four years. I've been sucked into watching swimming and even women's gymnastics.

The track events never really excited me, but some of the less popular ones like water polo and shooting I get into.

What are your favorites...and what are some lesser events that I should check out?

Opening Ceremonies for the games are this week. will you watch? do you care?

What are the big events this year? and will they show anything live in the AM so I can watch...or hold everything for primetime?

I do want to see the "bird's nest" stadium and the "water cube" swimming venue...watched hoe they were built this week on Discovery. I also want to see if the city's smog cancels some events...Beijing is one of most polluted cities with horrible air quality.

Just catching a glimpse of tonight's Home Run Derby and one throught:

it's amazing to see the size of some of the guys in the contest this year compared to the hulks from 10 years ago. besides a couple guys, like Berkman, most are just average-size guys. you can tell these guys aren't juicing anymore. heck, there's even a 2nd baseman in the derby...how does that happen?

I got my first taste of watching MMA, or Mixed Martial Arts, this weekend. I watched a little of the Saturday night fights on another network. I've never been a big boxing fan or seen much UFC or other MMA fights. but there were some ver y good athletes and a couple great matches that I saw. It wasn't the bloody, all-out brawl I've always heard of....although there were some good shots landed and some blood.

Any other MMA fans out there? Why do you like it and which league/fighters are your favorite?

I'm not going to make it up to the Players this year. I really don't go to see Tiger, infact it's easier to follow the other golfers, but I guess I won't miss out.

Last year was the first time I'de been up to the TPC Sawgrass to see the Stadium course in person (It's just not the same on Playstation) and it was great to see it in person and sit in the stands at 17 and watch golfers try to hit the island green.

With Tiger sitting out this year, did anyone stay home? or will it keep from tuning in this weekend?

With all the hype and talk of a GrandSlam, and how much better Tiger is, he's still beatable. When he' on, it's just a battle for 2nd place, but this week at the Masters proves that these guys aren't intimidated by Tiger...and that he can be beat, even on the biggest stage.

Tiger Woods gets to sleep in his own bed this week as he plays in the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill.

It should be a great weekend for a golf fan like me. I love watching tourneys on TV, but it's a whole different view from the course. I'm going to try to make it out to catch a round. I went last year on Friday and saw Tiger play in person for the first time. if you can handle hte crowds, it's great to stand there right behind the tee box and watch him hit a drive. the other players are great too (they're playing a different game then us hackers) but seeing the best probably of all time at his peak is something special.

see you on the course.

I'm not a huge racing fan, although I have been to a couple races and had a great time.

But tonight I got to see some of the history of the sport at the North Turn Grill in Ponce Inlet. We even met a former driver, 83 year old Russ Truelove. He used to race in the 50's on the old beach-road course.

If you're going to the 50th race coming up, first check out the North Turn. The place is now a national historic landmark and the owners have put a lot of time and investment to make it a special place. the walls are covered with racing history all in black and white.

It's not far north of the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse...another cool sight to check out on the coast.

The Giants and Packers are playing tonight in an Ice Bowl. it's about -2 on the field with windchills about -20.

so what's the coldest weather you'de ever sit in to see a football game? or any sport? I think I'd have to be a pretty big fan to sit through 3+ hours outside in anything under 32 degrees. but after living here, it may be 50 degrees...anything under that feels freezing to me now...brrrrrrrrrr

we're headed down to the Citrus Bowl this afternoon to talk to gator fans after the game. they're down by a couple touchdowns in the 2nd half right now. win or lose, the Capitol One Bowl is not like the national championship game, and I know UF will be looking to next year. with Tebow coming back, they should be good enough to get there.

I'll post later about some of the things we found after the game. it will be either a great comeback, or some sad Gators in town tonight.

tonight the Reskins are playing da Bears. but most of us can't watch the game because it's only on the NFL network. and I know the last game of the season when the Giants play the Pats is also on NFL net.

what do you think of these games being only available to only a select few? I have cable, but it's not offered in the package I get. looks like I'm going to have to find a local establishment to watch my games.

for golfers out there, I've noticed a lot of courses in Florida don't allow you to walk. some you just wouldn't want to because they're laid out with greens and the next tee so far apart. there's also the hot and steamy summers when a cart is welcome. but if you just want to go out and play a quick nine and sling your sticks yourself, shouldn't you be able to?

BTW, I'm asking because I met a golfer tonight from Daytona Beach who's been fighting to get the right to walk the city courses there. I guess they require a cart. They can only walk before 8am.
