Anyone ever get the chance to go back and visit a home you used to live in?...kinda like that show on TLC where a couple remodles their new home and the old owners get to come back in and check it out?

I get go see the house I grew up in for 20 years on an upcoming vacation to Iowa. My brother found out one of their new friends lives in my childhood home. I'm anxious to go in and see how different it is....I'm sure they didn't keep the shag carpeting or the avacado green kitchen.

Ive seen two of them after the next owner bought them. One was finished to late 70's early 80's perfection LOL. The second was re-finished really classy. It would be interesting seeing them all these years later. Just out of curiosity where abouts in Iowa are you from? Thats a little closer to my neck of the woods.

Wow..this is a sweet story Steve! BTW, how's the baby is it here yet? Hope all is well. Now, a stroll through memory lane..geeze when I came to Florida in 1994..I got to go through the old neighborhood..and wow while I remember the 70's I was sad to see (the area is where the old Rosebowl stands) which I believe they call Liberty City (Miami - Flager) so it was sad to see the changes and how Hurricane Andrew destroy MiamiBeach as well where I spent many good years in my teens. I understand they are trying to refurbished that Stadium, I can still here the crowds and all the games that were played there. Thanks for the memories. (p.s. it was nice go and see where SCARFACE was filmed..FUNNY I was working at the Miami Professional Bldg connected to the Intercontinental Hotel..WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PLACE that still remains.

Steve, this is so weird. We had a nice, small home in Wisconsin growing up. My parents moved to a ranch home since my dad was ill. My brother bought their home and remains in it to this day. I would love to have it if he ever moves, just to keep it in the family. I never want to let go of it. Lots of great memories!! Thanks for the blog. It gave me a warm heart.

I only have to travel about 30 minutes to see the house I grew up in. I think my aunt lives in the house. Last time I took a joy ride out there, the weeds in the back 40, behind the house, looked taller than the house. It was very sad, because the ground is rich, and we grew so many different vegetables there years ago. Makes me sad no one is farming the land.

I'm back from vacation. I'm from a suburb right outside the capitol city of Des Moines. there was some flooding, but not as bad as 1993.

the house visit was interesting. the previous owner did a lot of work and really changed everything. the kitchen and bathrooms were gutted and remodeled. the shag carpet was gone, but they did keep the 1970's wet bar a friend of my dad's built in the basement...groovey.

and BTW, the baby is doing great...2 monthes old now. wow, time flies! next thing I know she'll be in college.

Yeah, the commercial is right. Life comes at you fast. My oldest will be 30 in two years. Eek, I'm getting old! LOL
