It's here! We found some stations selling regular tonight for more than $4 a gallon. I know some heavy tourists areas are the highest. but I'm afraid the number 4 is something we'll have to get used to for a while.

Is this the breaking point? what price price would make you change your driving and spending habits? are we already there?

I was on the turnpike at the Okahumpka Service Plaza heading to Kentucky last Wednesday and gas(Citgo) was at 3.99 for the cheap stuff. I had topped off before leaving at 3.73 at the Shell Station on Sand Lake Rd and I-Drive. I find it hard to believe that the supply and demand is higher at the service plaza than the tourist area. In Wildwood north of the service plaza, gas was at 3.79. I don't buy my gas at Citgo as it's owned by Dictator Chavez and I could careless what he sells it for. But to me this seems like price gouging.

I dont think the price is high enough. Some stations near the Speedway is 30 cent more a gallon in each catagory of Super unleaded, and regular. A local reporter asked why are they spending more when down the street is cheaper... they said they didnt want to hunt.

THere is too much difference in price in stations. I spent 3.99 for med grade when the station across the street was 4.19.... that is nuts.

I did drive to Orlando today... and slowed to 65 and no crazy driving and I got better milage by far.

Welcome to the summer drive! While gas is nearing the $4 mark think about the drivers that depend on diesel to do their job. As a over the road trucker I see prices all over the country in the course of a week or two. The prices are making it harder and harder to survive in a truck that only gets between 4 and 5 mpg. My last fuel purchase was in Cocoa along I-95. How much? $4.83 a gallon. While car operators put 10-20 gallons I must fill 2 150 gallon tanks. Where will it end? by summer prices for diesel will top $5.00 gallon. Who will suffer? That will be obvious when you go to the market and pay 6 dollars for a gallon of milk or a dozen eggs, remember who to thank.....

...that is nothing, if you have been watching the government “stats” our consumption is down by almost 15% (world wide demand is down 17%) but the price keeps going up ! Add to that the fact that our government state local and Federal all run on gas tax and I can safely predict the addition of no less than $.75 in tax to the price before the end of this year (or more) ...Florida state has lost 11 million in just the past two months so they are going to have to raise the tax right ? Its not like there is any other way to make up the difference between what the government wants to spend and what it is making right ? RIGHT????

I've never heard of demand going down...I thought India and China were using more and more and that US usage was up too. where'de you get the numbers RNC?

as for taxes, I believe the federal gas tax alone is way more than the profit the oil companies make on a gallon of gas.

Steve, Ive heard demand was down also. That is for the first quarter of 08 as compared to the first quarter of 07.

A good source for info about gas and diesel is:

We could be in the panhandle where gas is much over $4. Seen it for $4.17 unleaded. Alabama too.

Cost of a barrel of oil Thursday by $4. I didn't see it fall at the pump the next day.
It goes up $4 a barrel it is up at the pump the next day. Profit mongering?? no the oil companies call it free trade, why is it the oil companies own thr oil rigs, refineries and gas stations and that's not called a monoply?
