The elections are just about a week away.  There have been countless topics written by Citizens who are just down right frustrated with the way things are.  I don't blame them - I am one of them.  But with so much - negativity - being thrown around by our own Citizens - being even worse yet than the media themselves, I tend to wonder how people would feel if the one they want to see in office - didn't make.

I remember at the beginning of the Bush Campaign - there were a few people in the land of Acting in California who stated that if Bush won - they would leave the U.S. - and what a lot of smoke they blew because they never left.

So with that in mind -

What would you do if Obama wins the election?  What would you do if McCain wins the election?

Normally I don't cut and paste news articles - however - watching the World News the other night brought up some interesting facts on what is happening to the Chinese Economy at this time.

So were the rumors correct in stating that the U.S. can control what is to happen around the World? And could it be true that President Bush intentionally brought down our economy?

In thinking about it - it would definitely put us back on top where we need to be.

We know our investment economy is failing but how bad is our actual day to day economy?  Being out daily in the professional world - I see shopping plaza's full - restaurants are full - people having no problem continuing their every day lives - just as we must.  The media is trying to "SELL" us on the idea of a failing economy all the way around - when in fact it's not all that bad. Ok well maybe bad for those who made bad investments.  I believe our Government truly knows how to not only work the World's Economy - but also the mind set of it's own American Citizens.

What do you think about the possibility that this was all intentionally caused to have control over the World's Economy once again?

Chinese economy growth rate slows

China's economic growth rate has fallen for the third quarter in succession, amid fears that the economy could be heading for a severe downturn.

The National Bureau of Statistics said the economy had grown at a rate of 9% in the three months to September - down from 10.1% over the previous quarter.

Spokesman Li Xiaochao said the impact of the global financial crisis had far exceeded the government's expectations.

Meanwhile shares rose in Asia. Japan's Nikkei index ended the day up 3.59%.

Share values also rose in Hong Kong, Australia, and South Korea.

No signs of recovery'

The third quarter growth rate announced on Monday marked a significant fall from the 10.4% growth of the first half of 2008, and the 12.2% growth seen in the first three quarters of 2007.

"There are no signs of a definite recovery from the financial crisis," statistics bureau spokesman Li Xiaochao told a news conference.

Export growth is slowing, and some companies are running into trouble
Li Xiaochao
National Bureau of Statistics

"The growth rate of the world economy has slowed down noticeably. There are more uncertain and volatile factors in the international economic climate," he said. "All these factors have started to release their negative impact on China's economy."

Correspondents say indicators from steel prices to housing sales suggest a severe economic slowdown could be in prospect.

Chinese factories are reporting that export orders are down sharply. Last week, the government said that half the country's toy makers had gone out of business.

Mr Li said the government had initiated timely measures to deal with the economic slowdown and cushion the impact from the global credit crisis, including falling exports and a restricted credit supply.

These included changing its focus from preventing the overheating of the economy and preventing structural inflation to the "preserving growth" and "controlling" inflation, he added.

Officials said over the weekend that the government was preparing to announce tax cuts and increased infrastructure investment. Curbs on the housing market in certain areas may also be relaxed.

The People's Bank of China has cut interest rates twice and reduced banks' required reserves since mid-September. A third interest rate cut is expected later this year.

The BBC's Quentin Sommerville in Shanghai says that although the government it is doing what it can to boost demand at home, China's new middle class is already feeling the pinch.

The stock market is sharply down, so too are house prices, while car sales have slowed dramatically. Consumers are cutting down on spending as they believe there are tougher times ahead, he says.

The National Bureau of Statistics also announced on Monday that consumer price inflation had cooled to a 15-month low of 4.6% in September. In February, inflation had hit a 12-year-peak of 8.7%.

Mr Li said the slowdown in inflation showed that the policies initiated by regulators to control it had been effective.

In reference to the topic of:   RETINAL SCAN to VOTE - retina ID database

RETINAL SCAN to VOTE - retina ID database If we can retina scan cattle, we should be able to retina scan people to verify their ID when voting. Our current voting system is old and allows tampering. It needs to be updated to use 21st century technology. Retina scan, paper trail, and a copy of each individual voter's activity printed out (on location) for that voter. Let's stop the games.

  --------------------------------------------

Cynpro, I tried to respond to this topic - however - the comment would not show up - so I apologize if I am doing something wrong - however with this interesting topic I would like to respond.

I do agree with you that it will not be long before something similar is put into place.  Not too long ago I read an article to where the Florida State Officials were looking into making it mandatory to use finger printing for actual ID for Teachers and other employment areas that had to do with children.  The reasoning for this was because too many sex offenders are getting missed and employed at the same time, including child sex offenders as well in schools.

I would imagine that not in the near too distant future, every child that is born will end up receiving a chip implanted into them.  And in doing so - that could be used for polls - financial purposes - background checks -  passports - and so on.  It's strange to see technology come to pass as I get older - and many things talked about in Bible Study are quickly coming around.  The use of implanted chips was something predicted and actually I would think would be more reliable than finger printing and/or retinal scans.

I imagine it won't be long before something is in place - but I dread this day - because that will be the day we as US Citizens will loose our Freedom for the sake of convenience.   How does everyone else feel about the Government being able to keep tabs on our every move for the sake of convenience?

My granddaughter came to me posing a very interesting question today.  Why is it - on the Nickelodeon Channel - are McCain adds shown only and never Obama.  I thought that to be a really good question!  I do know that Obama is paying for his own channel - a channel that is - a paid advertisement.  How many times are we - forced to watch paid advertising channels - segments if you will - that we can't stand?  Products offered - that maybe 8 out of 10 times don't work and are not worth the money?!!

The only other places I do see Obama commercials from time to time are on the regular standard channels - ABC - NBC - and CBS and that's about it.

After thinking about this - I have come to the conclusion that Obama is not targeting the - family - structure and that his adds are only about himself - Obama.  Is it that Obama loves to hear himself just talk and talk and talk all about the same thing which is - empty promises?  Why might you ask that I say that?  I call them empty promises - it's because every four years the Presidential Campaign always promises the same thing every time.  We need to ask ourselves why?  Why - it's because once in office - it's determined that the empty promises are just that - empty promises to get us all pumped up because they cannot be fulfilled.  How many times are we going to keep falling for the same speeches?  How long has Obama been in office - and what laws has he helped to pass that really tried to help the U.S. - none - just like the rest of the Democratic office that's been sitting up there for a couple of years - earning money for absolutely doing nothing at all!

So my ending thoughts on this excellent question brought to me by a young girl - leaves me with the thinking that McCain is for the American Family of all walks of life  - and - Obama is not and does not care about the children of the U.S nor the family structure.

What are your thoughts about this interesting question from a 10 year old child who does ask questions about politics and what it will mean to her now and in the future?

And if you have children - do you discuss politics with them and if so - how do you describe what's going on in our World Today?

It is apparent to see that our Investments are dropping every day.  I tend to believe that this is due to a trend of - Bad - Fly By Night Wanna Be Investors - who are starting to panic.  There are some differences to consider from the drop we are being compared to from the latter part of the 1980's.  We now have individuals who are playing stock brokers without any form of education on E-Trade.  That opens the World Market up for a faster overnight financial disaster than anything else.  We have Americans investing in the Chinese market - the Chinese investing in their market - we have the Middle East investing in our market and every where else - and so on without the help of Stock Brokers.  This was an option not available to us back in the late 1980's - so is the percentage of drop all that bad when we take away the actual investments that are not being controlled by stock brokers?

I don't think our economy should be based on over night investors - but more along the lines of long term investments.  I honestly believe that no one should be putting their retirement funds into an investment market either.  Ok - it would be good - if the return gives us 15 to 20% - however that is not realistic. The best return I ever had was 3 - 4% - ok now you know I don't have that Midas Touch.  If you have invested - what's the best return you've received?

It seems when the 401k investment funds started - it was doom to fail or go broke - especially since our economy is known to cycle up and down every 8 - 10 years.  We have individuals playing with the chances they will make it rich in a short amount of time.  Therefore - causing what we know to be - investment bubbles.

Recently we have had a "Housing Investment Bubble" that burst - then the "Oil Future Investment Bubble came around and just recently broke."   Both showed how quick people became greedy - living the good life for a while at the expense of others - then quickly going broke on each - and because of this - the timing is right for the DOW to drop even more.  So it surprises me that everyone is living off of the media's gloom and doom right now.  With the price of oil going down - the DOW - will have to drop - it's a given.  And others who had an investment in the housing or oil bubble that went broke - are now at the time of having to cash in any other investments they may have had in order to live off of.  So that will always cause the DOW to drop even more.  The baby boomers are retiring now and are beginning to live off of their retirement funds - many of them are cashing in to live off the money it's made.  So is the economy that bad or is it the timing is right for the DOW to drop like it is - given all of these things to think about?  I believe as the next stage of baby boomers begin to prepare for retirement - the investment market will recover.  And probably would have on their own with out the bail out of our Government. But then again - if you have read my topic on Consipiracy - Rumor - Or Truth - then you will know how I feel about the position of where our economy is in today.

Now the things I see and think about is looking at these bubbles that lasted for awhile and trying to take a shot at figuring out - why the housing market - why the oil market - and then it occurred to me - these are investments made towards our  - necessities - items we have to have in order to live.  We need a house to live in (just us Americans want every thing bigger and better) and we need oil for many things - of course the biggest being transportation.

Now with that in mind - there will be more "investment bubbles,"  - I see the following coming next that will have a major impact on our lives.

1)  Food.
2)  Electricity.
3)  Pharmaceuticals.
4)  Propane.
5)  Clothes.
6)  Alternative Transportation.
7)  Alternative Fuels.
8)  And possibly back to the good old savings bonds.

So what type of investment bubbles do you think will be on it's way next?

In speaking politics with a friend yesterday - an interesting theory was posed.  We know our economy goes in cycles - we are up and down pretty much every 10 years and we are in the right time frame for it to happen again.  However - our percentages of loss in the early 1990's across the board for unemployment - the DOW going down - a phenomenal gas hike as well - among many other things were at a higher percentage then - than it is today.    Even if the stock market crashed - the U.S. can still survive as we have to continue to live every single day - go to work - go to school - etc. - still having an exchange of money.  So why the fear? Is it because the media tells us to be afraid? Do we give in that easily to doom and gloom?  We could not fail like we did in the 1920's - as during that time - technology and industry was very limited - no where near what it is today.

How many of us realize that we are hypnotized my the media and feed into every little piece of negativity and then all of sudden the U.S. Citizens want to become a lynch mob because we refuse to see the whole picture?    We have become processed Citizens no longer being able to assess the truth for ourselves any longer.

How about a theory that President Bush is "INTENTIONALLY" ruining our economy right now for our Nation to be in a better place 2 years down the road?

Our Nation is loosing it's "Superiority" over other Nations.  There is too much money flying around throughout the little Countries who are starting to thrive and not be so much dependent on the U.S. any longer - therefore dealing with other Countries causing our dollar value to fall and causing our US Nation not to be on top where we used to be 15 - 20 years ago - or should I state Superior to others.   How about the other Larger Nations - take for instance China?  China used to work and not want for anything - now however - they have learned they can work and have a good life as well - therefore many of them are buying more vehicles and more materials things just like us Americans and are actually becoming a more thriving Country to deal with.

Because the other Countries tend to follow what the U.S. does - if our stock market crashes and our economy goes bust - then the other Countries are sure to follow.  That would leave many of the smaller Countries in trouble again and some larger ones as well.    Yeah our economy can go bust - but our American History has shown that as we grow with technology - we can pull out of a recession faster than any other Country.  It would take us 2-5 years - as to where it would take closer to 20 for most other Countries.  While the other Countries are scrambling to bounce back - In the meantime - our dollar will become - more valuable - and since we can come out of a recession faster - our U.S.  will once again become a Superior Nation - 2nd to none!   So if President Bush has to be the fall guy per say to bring our Nation back - then he shouldn't be impeached - he should get a medal! My friend works in the political field and after hearing his theory of what is happening - makes really good sense and I thought I would share this with you.

After reading this proposed theory - what are your thoughts on it?

In answering to another blog in reference to the Bail Out Plan and to the Debates - I wanted to share my thoughts with everyone - and see how many others are just as fed up as I am for having to see those who made wrong financial decisions - those who made their choices freely - be bailed out - why many of us hard working Citizens who didn't fall for the greed - get the shaft instead?!!   And how many of us are fed up being given empty promises every four years?!!

I am so tired of every four years having to go through the same thing at election time - so as far as the Debaites go - oops - I mean debates  - they are useless and mean nothing more than promises that the people want to hear that cannot be fulfilled. Our Country is in such a mess that it will take some time to come out of what we are in just for the possibility of one promise to be fulfilled before the ending of the next four years. How old are we? Many of us have been through many Presidential Elections and they all present the same thing - knowing we all want change - we are told on both sides of the parties what we want to hear. It's like a wrestling match - we get all pumped up - only to realize it's only for show and it's all fake - but yet we keep shelling out money left and right for the show AND along with that we have no control of what the outcome will be and who is to win!

As far as the Bail Out - I don't believe that this whole economical failure is the fault of the Government - it's the fault of Greedy Individuals from all walks of life and from all parties whether its Democrat - Republican - or whatever one would want to call themselves.

It all started when the Democrats wanted fair housing for everyone - even those who were renters because that's all they could ever afford - but what was started with good intentions - failed miserably because of the Greed of many people.  When things go wrong - why is it we keep blaming our Government instead of taking responsibility of what we as Free Thinking - Free Moving Citizens are allowed to do?  I for one am sick of this bail out because it's not fair to those who invested wisely - those who saved money - those who didn't take advantage of trying to keep up with the "Jones" - those who knew better not to take a gamble spending more than they can afford - I am sick knowing that my family and friends around me have to be responsible for bailing out these people when I am trying to make a living myself and have no extra money to waste.

Why is it the Government comes in to bail out failing investment companies - companies who should be responsible for their own decision making in business - decisions whether they grow or fail - and not that of smaller companies who are impacted because of these wrong choices the larger investment companies made?   What about those companies who are failing due to the economical impact from the fault of others? Why doesn't the Government bail them out as well?  If the Government bails out one company - it should bail out all.  If the Government bails out one neighbor who made a bad choice so they don't loose their home - then the Government should bail out everyone!  Fair is Fair in the Land of the Free!   Is it fair that the Government gets to pick who chooses who gets to succeed or who gets to fail in life?

Look back 4 yrs when the Republicans looked at this - why do you think the Republicans couldn't do anything at that time?  It's because the Liberals used the racial card!  Liberalism is the fault of this - Conservative media is ridiculous and both sides are not to blame on this one.   Pandering to the minorities is what the Radical Leftist used in order to have everything put on hold in 2004 and kept the Government Parties from doing what should have been done at that time.

Isn't amazing how the bail out has not been put into place yet - and the economy is doing just fine - theres no crashing yet?!  In addition - there is still no guarantee that it will still not crash when it is put into place.   Whether businesses succeed or fail - life still goes on.  Let all of the CEO's who made the wrong choices give up the millions they have banked in off shore accounts - then let them find out how it really is in the real world and go to work in an entry level job just like everyone else!

What are your thoughts - are you fed up just like I am?

The Cyber Narcissist

By: Dr. Sam Vaknin

http://samvak.tripod.com/journal67.html

To the narcissist, the Internet is an alluring and irresistible combination of playground and hunting grounds, the gathering place of numerous potential Sources of Narcissistic Supply, a world where false identities are the norm and mind games the bon ton. And it is beyond the reach of the law, the pale of social norms, the strictures of civilized conduct.

The somatic finds cyber-relationships aplenty. The cerebral claims false accomplishments, fake skills, erudition and talents. Both, if minimally communicative, end up at the instantly gratifying epicenter of a cult of fans, followers, stalkers, erotomaniacs, denigrators, and plain nuts. The constant attention and attendant quasi-celebrity feed and sustain their grandiose fantasies and inflated self-image.

The Internet is an extension of the real-life Narcissistic Pathological Space but without its risks, injuries, and disappointments. In the virtual universe of the Web, the narcissist vanishes and reappears with ease, often adopting a myriad aliases and nicknames. He (or she) can thus fend off criticism, abuse, disagreement, and disapproval effectively and in real time – and, simultaneously, preserve the precarious balance of his infantile personality. Narcissists are, therefore, prone to Internet addiction.

The positive characteristics of the Net are largely lost on the narcissist. He is not keen on expanding his horizons, fostering true relationships, or getting in real contact with other people. The narcissist is forever the provincial because he filters everything through the narrow lens of his addiction. He measures others – and idealizes or devalues them – according to one criterion only: how useful they might be as Sources of Narcissistic Supply.

The Internet is an egalitarian medium where people are judged by the consistency and quality of their contributions rather than by the content or bombast of their claims. But the narcissist is driven to distracting discomfiture by a lack of clear and commonly accepted hierarchy (with himself at the pinnacle). He fervently and aggressively tries to impose the "natural order" – either by monopolizing the interaction or, if that fails, by becoming a major disruptive influence.

But the Internet may also be the closest many narcissists get to psychodynamic therapy. Because it is still largely text-based, the Web is populated by disembodied entities. By interacting with these intermittent, unpredictable, ultimately unknowable, ephemeral, and ethereal voices – the narcissist is compelled to project unto them his own experiences, fears, hopes, and prejudices.

Transference (and counter-transference) are quite common on the Net and the narcissist's defence mechanisms – notably projection and Projective Identification – are frequently aroused. The therapeutic process is set in motion by the – unbridled, uncensored, and brutally honest - reactions to the narcissist's repertory of antics, pretensions, delusions, and fantasies.

The narcissist – ever the intimidating bully – is not accustomed to such resistance. Initially, it may heighten and sharpen his paranoia and lead him to compensate by extending and deepening his grandiosity. Some narcissists withdraw altogether, reverting to the schizoid posture. Others become openly antisocial and seek to subvert, sabotage, and destroy the online sources of their frustration. A few retreat and confine themselves to the company of adoring sycophants and unquestioning groupies.

But a long exposure to the culture of the Net – irreverent, skeptical, and populist – usually exerts a beneficial effect even on the staunchest and most rigid narcissist. Far less convinced of his own superiority and infallibility, the online narcissist mellows and begins – hesitantly – to listen to others and to collaborate with them.

Ultimately, most narcissists - those who are not schizoid and shun social contact - tire of the virtual reality that is cyberspace. The typical narcissist needs "tangible" narcissistic supply. He craves attention from real, live, people, flesh and blood. He strives to see in their eyes their admiration and adulation, the awe and fear that he inspires, the approval and affirmation that he elicits.

There is no substitute to human contact, even for the narcissist. Many narcissists try to carry online relationships they nurtured into their logical extension and conclusion offline. Other burst upon the cyber scene intermittently, vanishing for long months, only to dive back in and reappear, reinvigorated. Reality beckons and few narcissists resist its siren call.

8. How dangerous is narcissism, inside or outside the web?

A. Very dangerous. Just read the list of diagnostic criteria for the Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD): the narcissist lacks empathy, is arrogant, exploits people, is envious, has a strong and unjustified sense of entitlement, and is obsessive and delusional. Many narcissists are also psychopaths. Pathological narcissism is often diagnosed with other mental health disorders (a phenomenon called "co-morbidity"). Narcissists are over-represented among criminals, gamblers, and people with reckless and inconsiderate behaviors.

Interview granted to Agencia Efe, Spain, April 2008

1. Does the Internet make a special amplification of narcissism or is just the reflection of reality? How, despite of the fact that many people is disturbed by the anonymous characters that you can adopt in the Internet, the exhibitionism is, maybe, more usual. I mean, in terms of narcissism? Can a person be addicted to the web because is own narcissism?

A. The narcissist likes to appear to be mysterious. It enhances his self-perceived sense of omnipotence, it renders him "unique" and "interesting". The right moniker (Internet alias or handle) imbues the narcissist with a sense of immunity and superiority and permits him to commit the most daring or heinous acts.

2. What kind of lacks or necessities there are behind this behaviour? What are we expecting when we search our name on Google? Can we construct our image with the pieces of us in the internet?

A. The Internet is the hi-tech equivalent of a giant mirror. Like the mythical Narcissus, it allows us to fall in love with our reflection every day anew. We gaze into the depths of the Internet to reassure ourselves of our continuity and very existence. It is our modern photo album; a repository of snippets of our lives; and our external memory.

In psychoanalytic terms, the Internet replaces some of our ego functions: it regulates our sense of self-worth; puts us in touch with reality and with others; and structures our interactions (via its much vaunted peer-pressure of the Netiquette and the existence of editors and moderators).

We crave attention and feedback: proof positive that we matter, that someone cares about us, that we are not mere atoms in a disjointed and anomic Universe. In this sense, the Internet substitutes for God and many social functions by reassuring us that we fit into a World that, though amorphous and protean, is sustaining, predictable, constant, and nurturing. The Internet replaces our parents as a source of nourishment, support, caring, discipline, and omniscience.

3. In the case of the blogs, what's the point in common in the idea of doing a private diary and be available for everybody?

A. I am not sure what you mean. Blogs are anything but private. They are explicitly meant for public consumption, thrive on public attention, and encourage interaction with the public (through the comments area). One can set one's blog or online journal to "private", though, as the hi-tech equivalent of a personal diary.

4. Internet, with their blogs, Facebook, Myspace or YouTube, has create the possibility of make yourself famous without promotion, just with the progressive diffusion of your material. Examples like the singers Mika and Lilly Allen or many bloggers, can it make a new way of realizing the "American dream" for the users of the Internet?

A. Being famous encompasses a few important functions: it endows us with power, provides us with a constant Source of Narcissistic Supply (admiration, adoration, approval, awe), and fulfils important Ego functions.

The Internet caters to our narcissistic traits and propensities and allows us to become "celebrities-by-replication". The image that the blogger or artist projects is hurled back at him, reflected by those exposed to his instant celebrity or fame. By generating multiple copies of himself and his work, he feels alive, his very existence is affirmed and he acquires a sensation of clear boundaries (where he ends and the world begins).

There is a set of narcissistic behaviors typical to the pursuit of celebrity. There is almost nothing that the Net celebrity refrains from doing, almost no borders that he hesitates to cross to achieve renown. To him (or, increasingly, her), there is no such thing as "bad publicity": what matters is to be in the public eye at any price.

Because narcissistic individuals equally enjoy all types of attention and like as much to be feared as to be loved, for instance – they don't mind if what is published about them is wrong ("as long as they spell my name correctly"). The celebrity blogger or artist experiences bad emotional stretches only when he lacks attention, or publicity.

It is then that some bloggers, artists, and Webmasters plot, contrive, plan, conspire, think, analyse, synthesise and do whatever it takes to regain the lost exposure in the public eye. The more they fail to secure the attention of the target group (preferably, the entire Internet community), the more daring, eccentric and outlandish they become. A firm decision to become known is transformed into resolute action and then to a panicky pattern of attention seeking behaviours.

It is important to understand that the blogger/artist/Webmaster are not really interested in publicity per se. They appear to be interested in becoming a celebrity, but, in reality, they are concerned with the REACTIONS to their newly-acquired fame: people watch them, notice them, talk about them, debate their actions – therefore they exist.

5. There are many new applications to feed human narcissism on the net: Googlefight, Egosurf.org, the blogs themselves... Could be used narcissism as a business?

A. Every good business is founded on the mass psychology of its clientele. In a narcissistic civilization, business is bound to adapt and become increasingly more narcissistic. The Internet started off as an information exchange. The surge of (mainly American) users transformed it in profound ways. User-generated "content" is a thin veneer beneath which lurks the seething and pathological narcissism of the masses. Narcissism is our main business organizing principle outside the Internet as well: cosmetics, fashion, health, publishing, show business, the media, and the financial industries all rest on firm narcissistic foundations. The management class itself is highly narcissistic!

6. Can be satisfied the true and pathologic narcissism just with the feed-back on the Internet or it needs, finally, to put in "real" his power of attraction.

A. What's not real about the Internet? This dichotomy between virtual and real is false. The Internet is as real as it gets and, for many of its users, it is the only reality and the only frame of reference. It is "reality" as we used to know it that is gradually vanishing and being replaced by "virtual" substitutes: print media are dying and giving way to blogs and online news aggregators; iTunes and Napster and BitTorrent and eMule are ruining the very physical music CD; there is more published on the Internet than is available in many brick and mortar libraries, and so on.

7. Could presence or non-presence in Internet create a new kind of social class?

A. Like every other social phenomenon, the Internet gave rise to a stratified society with hackers, crackers, nerds, geeks, Wikipedians, bloggers, etc. occupying various niches. Not using the Internet - a kind of Internet Luddism - may yet become a badge of honor. Internet addicts may become either outcasts or the new elite. Who knows? Everything digital is still in its formative years and still in flux.

As I have stated before - stand your ground against cyber bullies - remember that no one has to put up with any type of disrespect - no matter how old you are.  Make your stand against these bullies and stop them in their tracks!  I would recommend visiting this site and read the whole page in it's entirety!  Everyone has rights!

Internet trolls, some information for you

by Mary Jac

To "troll" means to allure, to fish, to entice or to bait.   Internet trolls are people who fish for other people's confidence and, once found, exploit it.

Trolls are various in nature and the type of damage they do ranges greatly, such as:
Cause irritation to others
Disrupt an email list or online group
Steal money
Obtain credit card details
Build false hopes
Abuse children
What is a troll? The term "troll" can mean a number of different things, but in essence, a troll is a person who aims to have 'pleasure' at your expense. There are two main types of trolls:
**people who have the psychological need to feel good by making others feel bad.   This is a sort of "psycho troll", whose deception involves deceiving themselves as well as others. Such people may use their real names on the internet, and they may not even realize that they are "trolling" because it is all subconscious.   **people who pretend to be someone that they are not - they create personae that you think are real, but they know is fictitious.

There are four types of these trolls:

Playtime Trolls: an individual plays a simple, short game. Such trolls are relatively easy to spot because their attack or provocation is fairly blatant, and the persona is fairly two-dimensional.

Tactical Trolls: This is where the troller takes the game more seriously, creates a credible persona to gain confidence of others, and provokes strife in a subtle and invidious way.

Strategic Trolls: A very serious form of game, involving the production of an overall strategy that can take months or years to develop. It can also involve a number of people acting together in order to invade a list.

Domination Trolls: This is where the trollers' strategy extends to the creation and running of apparently bona-fide mailing lists.

A cyber bully's typical personality profile.

The Serial Bully is a convincing, practiced liar and when called to account, will make up anything spontaneously to fit their needs at that moment and has a Jekyll and Hyde nature - is vile, vicious and vindictive in private, but innocent and charming in front of witnesses; no-one can (or wants to) believe this individual has a vindictive nature - only the current target of the serial bully's aggression sees both sides; whilst the Jekyll side is described as "charming" and convincing enough to deceive personnel, management and a tribunal, the Hyde side is frequently described as "evil"; Hyde is the real person, Jekyll is an act  that excels at deception and should never be underestimated in their capacity to deceive and uses excessive charm and is always plausible and convincing when peers, superiors or others are present (charm can be used to deceive as well as to cover for lack of empathy), AND
*is glib, shallow and superficial with plenty of fine words and lots of form - but there's no substance
*is possessed of an exceptional verbal facility and will out maneuver most people in verbal interaction, especially at times of conflict
*is often described as smooth, slippery, slimy, ingratiating, fawning, toadying, obsequious, sycophantic
*relies on mimicry, repetition and regurgitation to convince others that he or she is both a "normal" human being
*is unusually skilled in being able to anticipate what people want to hear and then saying it plausibly
*cannot be trusted or relied upon
*fails to fulfill commitments
*is emotionally retarded with an arrested level of emotional development; whilst language and intellect may appear to be that of an adult, the bully displays the emotional age of a five-year-old
*is emotionally immature and emotionally untrustworthy
*exhibits unusual and inappropriate attitude
*in a relationship, is incapable of initiating or sustaining intimacy
*holds deep prejudices (eg against the opposite gender, people of a different sexual orientation, other cultures and religious beliefs, foreigners, etc - prejudiced people are unvaryingly unimaginative) but goes to great lengths to keep this prejudicial aspect of their personality secret
*is self-opinionated and displays arrogance, audacity, a superior sense of entitlement and sense of invulnerability and untouchable
*has a deep-seated contempt of clients in contrast to his or her professed compassion
*is a control freak and has a compulsive need to control everyone and everything you say, do, think and believe; for example, will launch an immediate personal attack attempting to restrict what you are permitted to say if you start talking knowledgeably about psychopathic personality or antisocial personality disorder in their presence - but aggressively maintains the right to talk (usually un knowledgeably) about anything they choose; serial bullies despise anyone who enables others to see through their deception and their mask of sanity
*displays a compulsive need to criticize whilst simultaneously refusing to value, praise and acknowledge others, their achievements, or their existence
*shows a lack of joined-up thinking with conversation that doesn't flow and arguments that don't hold water
*flits from topic to topic so that you come away feeling you've never had a proper conversation
*refuses to be specific and never gives a straight answer
*is evasive and has a Houdini-like ability to escape accountability
*undermines and destroys anyone who the bully perceives to be an adversary, a potential threat, or who can see through the bully's mask
*is adept at creating conflict between those who would otherwise collate incriminating information about them
*is quick to discredit and neutralize anyone who can talk knowledgeably about antisocial or sociopath behaviors
*may pursue a vindictive vendetta against anyone who dares to held them accountable, perhaps using others' resources and contemptuous of the damage caused to other people and organizations in pursuance of the vendetta
*is also quick to belittle, undermine, denigrate and discredit anyone who calls, attempts to call, or might call the bully to account
*gains gratification from denying people what they are entitled to
*is highly manipulative, especially of people's perceptions and emotions (eg guilt)
*poisons peoples' minds by manipulating their perceptions
*when called upon to share or address the needs and concerns of others, responds with impatience, irritability and aggression
*is arrogant, haughty, high-handed, and a know-all
*often has an overwhelming, unhealthy and narcissistic attention-seeking need to portray themselves as a wonderful, kind, caring and compassionate person, in contrast to their behavior and treatment of others; the bully sees nothing wrong with their behavior and chooses to remain oblivious to the discrepancy between how they like to be seen and how they are seen by others
*is spiritually dead although may loudly profess some religious belief or affiliation
*is mean-spirited, officious, and often unbelievably petty
*is mean, stingy, and financially untrustworthy
*is greedy, selfish, a parasite and an emotional vampire
*is always a taker and never a giver
*is convinced of their superiority and has an overbearing belief in their qualities of leadership but cannot distinguish between leadership (maturity, decisiveness, assertiveness, co-operation, trust, integrity) and bullying (immaturity, impulsiveness, aggression, manipulation, distrust, deceitfulness)
*often fraudulently claims qualifications, experience, titles, entitlements or affiliations which are ambiguous, misleading, or bogus
*often misses the semantic meaning of language, misinterprets what is said, sometimes wrongly thinking that comments of a satirical, ironic or general negative nature apply to him or herself
*is constantly imposing on others a false reality made up of distortion and fabrication
*sometimes displays a seemingly limitless demonic energy especially when engaged in attention-seeking activities or evasion of accountability and is often a committee-aholic or apparent workaholic.

Bullying and identity theft on social networking sites (from an article from "netsafe")   by Posh Totty

Bullying, Identity Theft & How to Report it   Identity theft is when someone sets up a web page (or uses documents like passports etc) to pretend they are you.

Sometimes, on social networking sites, people can set up a page which looks like you made it, but it says mean things about you and makes you look bad. This is a form of harassment and any kind of harassment is not ok.

The good news is that there's heaps you can do about it.

To make a complaint about someone who is cyber-bullying you or who is using your identity in Cyberspace without your permission, follow the steps below....

1. Gather evidence
- Note down the web address of the abusive page.
- Take a couple of screen shots of the abusive page. You can do this by pressing down Alt and the Print   Screen key at the same time, and pasting the picture into Microsoft Word.
2. Check out the 'Terms of Use/Service'
- A link to these should be on the homepage of the website. It's a good idea to refer to them so that when you are laying your complaint you can state exactly what the bully has done wrong (according to the website rules).
- Note down the part of the Terms of Use that you are laying your complaint under.   3. Get in touch with the website to make a complaint   4. Get help
- Bullying and harassment can be hard to deal with, online or offline. It is a great idea to talk to an adult you trust (like a parent, caregiver, or school counselor) for support.   NB. Most social networking sites have rules for people who use their website about harassing other people. For example, some may say:   ''you agree NOT to: - Defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity) of others.
- Publish, distribute and/ or disseminate any harmful, obscene, indecent, unlawful, libelous, profane, defamatory, infringing, inappropriate, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable material or information.
- Use other Members' personal data for purposes other than establishing contact that is reasonably expected to be welcomed by such other Members   If people break these rules by setting up an abusive page about you, they can then be kicked off the site (and the abusive page taken down). It can also pay to remember that in some cases, the Police can help (if the harassment is against the law).

Again, all children or those who are just fed up, stand up for your rights and turn these bullies in!

Cyber Bullying (taken from www.bullyonline.org and the 7 rules thereafter to help you deal with it)   Cyber bullying on the Internet

The Internet provides the perfect forum for cyber bullies, individuals whose aim is to gain gratification from the distress caused by provoking and tormenting others. The anonymity, ease of provocation, and almost infinite source of targets means the Internet is full of predators from pedophiles targeting children to serial bullies targeting ... anybody.   Cyber bullies get a perverse sense of satisfaction (called gratification) from sending people flame mail and hate mail. Flame mail is an email whose contents are designed to inflame and enrage. Hate mail is hatred (including prejudice, racism, sexism etc) in an email.   Serial bullies, whose behavior profile you'll find in full at Bully On Line, harbor a lot of internal aggression which they direct at others. This may include projection, false criticism and patronizing sarcasm whilst contributing nothing of any value. It may also include a common tactic of "a number of people have emailed me to agree with me". This is standard bully-speak. In every case it's a fabrication or a distortion - usually the former. The purpose of this tactic is to wind people up.

People who bully are adept at creating conflict between those who would otherwise pool negative information about them. The method of creating conflict is provocation which bullies delight in because they know they can always coerce at least one person to respond in a manner which can then be distorted and used to further flame and inflame people. And so it goes on. The bully then sits back and gains gratification from seeing others engage in destructive behavior towards each other.

Many serial bullies are also serial attention-seekers. More than anything else they want attention. It doesn't matter what type of attention they get, positive or negative, as long as they can provoke someone into paying them attention. It's like a 2-year-old child throwing a tantrum to get attention from a parent.   The anger of a serial bully is especially apparent when they come across someone who can see through them to espy the weak, inadequate, immature, dysfunctional aggressive individual behind the mask.

The objectives of bullies are Power, Control, Domination, Subjugation. They get a kick out of seeing you react. It doesn't matter how you react, the fact they've successful provoked a reaction is, to the bully, a sign that their attempt at control have been successful. After that, it's a question of wearing you down. The more you try to explain, negotiate, conciliate, etc the more gratification they obtain from your increasingly desperate attempts to communicate with them. Understand that it is not possible to communicate in a mature adult manner with a disordered individual who's emotionally retarded.

The best way to treat bullies is to refuse to respond and to refuse to engage them - which they really hate.

For all children or those who are fed up with it, take a stand and turn these bullies in!
