You know, these days it seems like everywhere I turn there is some type of message telling me to feel guilty. My carbon footprint, my greenhouse emissions, my garbage, etc...  I am so tired of these companies and the media telling me that I am part of the reason for our planet, our "mother Earth" being slowing killed. First of all, morons, this planet is going nowhere. Perhaps is will get more difficult for "US" to live here, but the planet will recover and will be fine long after we are gone.

They tell me that I should not use plastic bags from the grocery store. They criticise me for drinking too much bottled water and filling the landfills with plastic bottles. They tell me that I should only drive where I absolutley have to and maybe take a bicycle when I can. They tell me that I should use $10 light bulbs in my house so that I can reduce greenhouse gasses. Fertilizer that I put on my lawn polutes the lakes and streams. My wife's hairspray is depleting the Ozone.

I have a few ideas about this. Stop making plastic bags. Stop selling drinks in plastic bottles. Give me an alternate fuel source that doesnt make my grocery bill increase 15% in one year. Allow power companies to build Nuclear power plants and then let me use your $1 light bulbs made in China that last 2 weeks. Sell me some fertilizer that doesnt make algae grow in our waterways. Stop flying government wastemongers all ove rthe country, they aren't accomplishing crap anyway. What eve happened to ozone depletion anyway?

All I am saying is to stop telling me to feel guilty. I have no problem with companies making money, but if you really want me to stop using this crap, stop selling it. They are the ones who should feel GUILTY not me.

Sorrento, All we do is a drop in the bucket compared to how badly Chernobyl, Saddam, The Red Chinese and even The Space Programs have frigged up the ozone and everything else! You have NO reason to feel guilty, unless you're a slob who throws their Burger King bag out the window as you drive through Sorrento, heading toward Wekiva Pine Drive! So quit beating yourself up!

When someone or a group of individuals are trying to play the guilt and blame game, I just consider that source. Do THEY lead by example ? NO, absolutely not. Good post Sorrento_Dude !

My friend flys C-5's back and forth to Europe using tremendous amounts of fuel just for practice! He has cement slabs in the plane to simulate heavy loads. Almost as bad as NASA pizzing away our money.

Well said and well put! Its is ashame unless we really look for this blog it will only be seen by a few.
The guilt trip does not stop with these examples either, rather it is just the tip of the iceberg.

Consider this "your credit rating" feel a little guilty? What are the rules we are forced to play by to get this rating? Its one of the best keep secrets on the planet!

However it effects us in the most venerable place, "the pocket book". Most games are played by highly defined rules known to all, however obscured!

As you can see it is a game played by guilt with one guaranteed winner and its not you!

Thank for the comments. I have been thinking about this for a long time. I agree, this is just the top of the iceberg. We are told that we should save save save and then our government turn around and sends us $1800 for what? we have been told to take that money out and buy a plasma TV or make a down payment on a car. Who does that benefit? Corporations! Don't get me wrong, I am not anti-business but really in the grand scheme what is $1800 for a family? It is a major waste of money. Maybe I should buy Chinese food with my $1800 or however much they send me. They should dump that money into the social security fund. I guess I should feel guilty about putting that money in my savings account.

SD; why put money into a savings account? With the soaring prices of food, why not stock up on food that has a shelf life? Savings accounts have about 3% interest now? Banannas went up 66% in a month, same with canned peaches, etc. Dam you need to take a calculator with you to the store to see how they're screwing you. Thailand,Indonesia and India have stopped exporting rice. They are saving it for their own people.

It is sad to say, but America is the cause of every bad thing that has ever happened or will ever happen in this world. Yet America i one of the youngest countries in the world. China is supposed to be at least a 10,000 year history, yet they are just now pulling themselves out of theslime of ignorance. Iran and Iraq, the cradles of civilization, yet they live in sand huts and tents. So why do all these foreigners choke our shores trying to get into America, if we are so bad. I say Shut the borders, save America first, solve our own economic butts, and let the rest of the world complain about us from afar. The rrest of the world certainly haven't stepped up as leaders.

Sorrento this is a good blog and your not alone on the guilt trip. I do try to do my share. For instance I buy one plastic bottle of water and refill it from a filtered system instead of buying them by the cases. I try to do what I can and that's all I can do. Quit making the bottles if it's such a major problem which I can see how they can be. I hear they are doing away with the inhalers Albuterol that people use for asthma, respiratory problems, etc due to it damaging the earth as well. I have been on this inhaler for years and I don't know what the answer is for its replacement. It will probably be to drink more water....lol. So what do you do? This is just the beginning of a lot of things to come I'm afraid.

Coastguard, good point. The price of milk is almost $5 per gallon. Listen to me and take me very seriously. I dont want to sound like a crazed NUT but I already am stocking up on food. I have been for a month or so. I just add to my collection every time I go to BJs. I believe that there are very though times ahead and I have too much to lose not to be prepared. If gas and diesel continue the climb trucking companies will have no choice but to raise prices if not shut down altogether. If the commercial real estate market turns as badly as the resi market did banks will fail (not all but enough to cause panic).

The last thing I am worried about right now is Bottled Water. I have 1500 of them in my garage lol.

I have already blogged this but it is appropriate to duplicate: Costco just announced that they are controlling the amount of RICE you can buy at their stores. Thailand,Indonesia and India have stopped exporting rice. Maybe you're on to something there SD.
