$175 for a Burger?????????

NYC Eatery Unveils $175 Burger Tuesday, May 20, 2008 E-Mail Print Share: But does that come with fries? Despite fears of an economic collapse, a Lower Manhattan restaurant is now offering a $175 hamburger. Dubbed the Richard Nouveau, the burger is made of Kobe beef sprinkled with actual gold flakes, black truffles, a thick slab of seared foie gras and aged Gruyere cheese. It has twice the fat of an everyday hamburger, the New York Daily News reported. Wall Street Burger Shoppe co-owner Heather Tierney calls the burger "kind of a work of art." So how does it taste? The Daily News calls the dish "hefty but not too hard to handle." Tierney says the item attracts Wall Street types who down a few beers and then fork over $175 to "show off in front of their friends."

 

Sprinkled with REAL GOLD FLAKES.  So how much money is TOO MUCH?  I say that if you're eating a burger with gold flakes and then later flushing those gold flakes down the toilet.... then you have TOO MUCH money.

As much as I love a good burger, I can't seem to comprehend this.  Honestly, it doesn't even sound good.

Let me tell you...there are some pretty great places to eat in the City no surprise regarding the price......but THE HAMBURGERS ARE MORE LIKE A MEAL FOR FOUR..........

Well, I guess when one is financially well off like the movie stars and glamoureous people who cares what they paid....TAVERN ON THE GREEN......WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PLACE...sometimes I do miss the Big City...specially the water and the foods.............YUMMY

The problem with kobe burgers is the fat is cooked out when the beef is ground...

What a waste...

Gold flakes are overrated, the foie is pure fat...

I would eat/serve it deconstructed in 2 courses for 80 scratching the flakes, and on potato blini with a nice demi reduced with a tokai...

I've had a few "$200.00 hamburgers".
This is a term pilots use when they rent
an airplane for a couple of hours and fly somewhere like in my instance, from Ft. Lauderdale to Key Largo to log flight time and have lunch before flying home.

Of course this hasn't happened lately because
that "hamburger" is more like $550.00 now with fuel prices the way that they are. This
thankfully has nothing to do with "showing off" either. How ridiculous...the people with the $$$ just DO NOT know how to spend it!!!
