Last evening, the after dinner discussion with some friends turned rather interesting when one of them brought up the idea of making it mandatory to pass a urine test in order to collect a welfare check each month. The basis for the argument was that many companies these days make urine tests mandatory for employment, then tax your wages before you are paid, with those taxes then being diversified in part into the Welfare system to help those who sit back and often do drugs instead of working. While none of us had a problem with helping someone who needed it the question arose..

If I have to pass a urine to test to work and earn money, then should those I am helping to support have to pass a urine test to spend my money?

I found it an interesting idea and one that could have some potential for thinning the welfare roles. So what do you think? Could it work? Would you support it? If not, why not?

I don't know who the author is but I don't think there are truer words been spoken in a long time. Even I as a long standing atheist, understand it is about more than "christmas profits" there is a "SPIRIT" to the season that is getting more and more distant.

MERRY CHRISTMAS ONE AND ALL!

****************************************************
********************************************

TWAS THE MONTH BEFORE CHRISTMAS

*Twas the month before Christmas*
*When all through our land,*
*Not a Christian was praying*
*Nor taking a stand.*
*See the PC Police had taken away,*
*The reason for Christmas - no one could say.*

*The children were told by their schools not to sing,*
*About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.*
*It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say*
* December 25th is just a 'Holiday'.*

*Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit*
*Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!*
*CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod*
*Something was changing, something quite odd! *

*Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa*
*In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.*
*As Targets were hanging their trees upside down*
* At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.*

*At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears*
*You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.*

*Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty*
*Are words that were used to intimidate me.*

*Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen*
*On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!*
*At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter*
*To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.*

*And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith*
; * Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace*

*The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded*
*The reason for the season, stopped before it started.*

*So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree'*
*Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.*
*Choose your words carefully, choose what you say*

*Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS ,

not Happy Holiday!*

My girls have been looking for the address to send packages and christmas cards to the men and women over in Iraq for Christmas and we have only been able to locate the USO address. I know in years past there was an FPO (either San Francisco or New York) that you could send to that would deliver the packages and mail DIRECTLY to the troops but I can not find it for some reason. If any of you know the address or know where I can find it please post it here ASAP.

Thanks in advance and MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HOLIDAYS, SEASONS GREETING AND HAVE A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR!

This is a spin off of another blog that just intrigued me so I decided to open it up here and I do hope that I will hear from both sides on this issue. While women have been very vocal about this for a long time with statements such as "it’s my body, so it’s my right" we don't often hear from men and how they feel.

So come on guys speak up please. Do you think you should have the same rights to be a DAD even if she doesn't want to be a MOM?

 BrendaG writes:

"Even though I am beyond this, meaning I will never be pregnant again. I don't think I would want to carry a baby to term if I found out the after the fact that the father was truly an abusive a**hole! Something similar happened to someone I know, and that would have sucked if she was tied to that abusive a**hole for the next 18 years. So no I don't think the "sperm donor" should have any say, especially if he is an abusive a**hole!!! "

BrendaG~ my question to you is this...

Why does a woman allow herself to get pregnant if they guy is an abusive a**hole?

Sorry Leopards don't change their spots. SHE chose him, I am positive that there were signs early on that told her what kind of guy he really was but as many women do she ignored them in favor of trying to rationalized the relationship by thinking "I am in love" or "I can change him" and many women think that getting pregnant will aid them in that goal.

But...regardless of that issue he still has the right to be a father and she should not have the ability to make that choice for him. NO she doesn't have to be tied to him for the next 18 years. She has the ability to walk away and get on with her life.

I am always find it humorous when women refer to the men they picked as "sperm donor's" because it is very telling of their opinion of men in general and then they wonder why they can't find a good man?

And I really have to tell ya BrendaG I am a bit concerned that you would choose to TERMINATE a pregnancy based on nothing more than the character of the man you chose. While I am 100% PRO-CHOICE, I also think that there needs to be careful and valid consideration for that choice. Using termination as a birth control method is unacceptable just as using it because you as a woman can't make good choices is unacceptable.

Life has consequences. Sometimes they are good ones and sometimes they aren't but either way, MEN should have the SAME RIGHTS TO PARENTHOOD that women do since no matter how you look at it they DID contribute 50% to the creation of the child in question and she is not any more important to that child’s future life than he is.

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Every American citizen needs to read this and then practice it!

I am sure that at least a few of you have seen the TV Commercial or Web Ad for 28Income.com where they present themselves to be a "work at home" business. You see the typical individuals telling you that they earn anywhere from $5000.00 and up a month with this wonderful 'HOME BUSINESS". Well being the curious type I decided after seeing yet another Web Ad to check this out for myself, and here is what I found.

Upon logging in you get a very generic web site that really does not give you much information and is basically designed to grab $9.95 for shipping and handling of your FREE INFORMATION PACKAGE, that is supposed to explain to you just what this business is. Now this in itself is a bit misleading because the web site 28Income.com actually takes you to a web site called  THE HOME BUSINESS INSTUTE where you are sort of lead to believe that they are a clearing house or referal service for other companies that offer a HOME BASED BUSINESS. Well....not true!

I decided that I could afford to spend the $9.95 (the cost of breakfast one day) to check this out a bit further. That night I got a phone call from my "mentor" to arrange my second phone contact needed after I recieved my information. I was told I would have it in 24 hours and true to their word within 1 day I recieved my FREE INFORMATION PACKAGE, that consisted of a DVD and a Booklet. I was then instructed to view the entire DVD and read the entire Booklet where it would explain what it is I was getting into.

Eagerly the next day I popped my DVD in and grab my booklet and to my surprise (well not really) I was treated to a 30 minute bit of entertainment by a supposed 28 year old success story who told me absoultly NOTHING about the business, but preached at me that it was possible for me to earn $300.000.00 per month or more while he held up photo copies of checks that were very fuzzy. After the 30 minutes and a few additional interviews of those who claimed to make great deals of money I was then told I had to contact my "mentor" to request my SECOND FREE INFORMATION PACKAGE. Oh yeah and that booklet...well it was the script this kid read from.

Well I didn't have to wait long or even make that phone call to my "mentor" because he contacted me. The problem was that by that time I had figured out (most with even elementary intelligence would have done so as well) that this was nothing more than the typical PYRAMID SCHEME that was going to be dependant on me purchasing some form of "product" that I was to then sell (with no luck of course) to make money while those above me collected 1% of my profits (and initial investment). It would soon dawn on me and other like me that if I was going to make real money I would have to "recruite" other to sell this product so that I then would recieve my 1% of their investment..and so on and so on and so on.... AmWay started this years ago and it seems that it has just evolved with the technology of the Web. The only question I had remaining in my head was WHO this company was this time. When my "mentor" called and I requested a return address from him because I was not interested in this he became very upset with me and tried to convice me that I was "throwing away my only chance at financial freedome". When I explained that this was a pyramid scheme he really became enraged and in his anger blurted out that HERBALIFE IS NOT a pyramid scheme!  Ah ha...HERBALIFE...so that was the company. Mystery products that can help cure everything from the common cold to weight loss that NO ONE wants to buy.

So now I had all the answers! After a few more moments he told me he would send me the return Address and hung up the phone. I sat on my couch and laughed! Yet one more scam busted!

So why did I post this here? Well more as a service really to any of those individual that might be tempted to spend that $9.95 after watching the 28Income.com commercials. While it isn't a great deal of money really, if I can save one person from being taken advantage of then it was worth it to me. The very best defense we have as consumers to protect ourselves from these "get rich quick" schemes or these "pyramid" schemes is to speak up and tell others what we have seen first hand. I personally know far to many individuals that have spent thousands on promises of a great return only to end up with boxes of crap sitting around the house.

Be smart and be safe.  Don't be tempted by this new SCAM. 28Income.com is NOT THE ROAD TO RICHES...its the road to HERABALIFE!

I am pretty simple to understand. I don't lie, I don't cheat and I don't worry about what people think of me. I have one motto in life and that is: Life is not about arriving at the grave in a perfect body, it's about SLIDING IN SIDEWAYS yelling...WHAT A RIDE! You don't have to like me, you don't have to agree with me but you do have to respect my right to be me. My photo is a dedication to my MOM. She was the FUNNIEST LADY I ever knew. RIP 4-22-07
