Sageman's Blog

If anyone has been reading the blogs here you will see a lot of really interesting articles written by people eager to open a discourse about the news that interests them. This is often impossible to do as of late because of certain individuals hijacking the blogs.

By taking a blog off topic to put forth your own agenda you are hijacking a thread. Doing this on most boards will get you a warning or two, then an IP ban (Internet Protocol I.E.  Your Internet Address). MyFox is unusually lenient with regards to this but I wanted to make a point.

All the people griping about there being a delay on your post's generating, keep in mind how many times your perfectly wonderful post was turned into a forum to bash a political figure, religion or other topic. Taking a post on these tangents detracts from the blog and it is rude.

If you want to push your own agenda do it by writing your own blog and putting forth your views there. I just hope no one comes and hijacks your thread like many have done to myself and others here.

You don't always have to agree with what's being written but at least respect the writers blog. I don't even mind the little greetings and the responses to those greetings when people write something that also pertains to the post but please be conscientious of the time and effort many put into righting their blogs.

Not trying to whine but I know others have the same opinion about this as I do.

Thanks

Yes this is a big problem, but not as big as the global warming issue now lets talk about yellow cake uranium....LOL come on are you really expecting fox to do anything about “topic changing” ? They hardly notice that the blog exists...
Just wondering do I do this often ? I try to write a blog of my own when I find that one starts me off in a different direction ...but I honestly don't give it a lot of thought (blog rules that is)

I here what you are saying and I somewhat agree.
I ask you this. Aren't the blogs here created to welcome open discussion?
If you post a subject on a controversial subject, you can probably expect some controversial remarks. Are all of them necessary? Probably not, but taking them ALL in context gives the author and reader a TRUE feeling on the subject.
If worse comes to worse, use your DELETE option.
I wont use it unless I find double posts or outright personal attacks.
I hope you continue to post here Sageman.

I think most of us share your opinion. However many of us strongly disagree with FOX's idea of the answer. To me it looks like FOX wanted a website but didn't want to hire a real moderator to run it. Kind of like putting in a community pool but not wanting to spend the cash to bring in a lifeguard. This was obvious by the way it took forever to bring blogs to the main page and which blogs were brought up. At times we would have 5 or 6 different blogs on the exact same topic, and most often in the wrong category. It seems they were half BLEEP'n it. As a result we ended up with clowns on here using this as their personal attack board, however these people weren't the problem. They were the result of the problem.

FOX shouldn't be making everyone pay the price for the actions of one or two. If they are going to have a board like this they need to run it properly, hire the right people, or expect to see a drop in quality participation (something that has happened already).

Sorry RCN I usually get side tracked by my super short attention span by the time I get through the comments on your blogs..

I agree what rottweiller said. We'll all have different opinions and different ways of getting a point across. Theres some that seems on purpose, then there is those done just through conversation.

Rottweiler said it! If you don't want to hear what people have to say, then don't ask! On the other hand, if "you don't know jack" about something, then stay the heck out, unless you have a question! All this malarkey about simply "appearing" to spew some diarrhea insult, bring up something totally irrelevant from another blog, in order to insult a blogger, or changing the subject, WITHOUT an apology for doing so, HAS to stop. Occasionally, a blogger may post a question to another blogger, directing them back to a previous blog, because they have been unable to "make contact" with them in reference to that previous blog. IF, and WHEN that happens, an apology is due to the person who originated the blog they're posting on, just out of courtesy.

I guess what we need is a new section titled "Fiction" maybe... Opposing opinion is encouraged, however IF you are attempting to persuade people to support an opinion NOT based in ALL the facts, IN perspective, AND in the correct context, then you are in the "Fiction" arena. Someone comming in and bringing the points/facts left out is NOT an attack, and not stealing a topic. I respect any EDUCATED opinion or position.

Lets call this what it is now... Some here (generally those on the left) are trying to use the FOX arena to get an opinion or position out that is propaganda or radical talking points that are easily debunked. Deleting that exposure is what I hate. If you point is truely based in facts than you should be able to defend it. If you can't then it is easy to see where one's frustration comes into play. True factual dialog makes everyone smarter! Simply.. garbage in.. garbage out. If I have to resort to taking out the trash, thats fine by me.

Sage, I couldn't agree with you more! I have lost so many excellent Blog Topics that took some time to prepare only to have a two to three of the same users come in and dump a bunch of garbage into it, as that was their intention to begin with, then disrespect me as I chose to delete instigating comments and comments relating to someone's personal business that was false. Then because I chose to delete the garbage not even relevant to the topic, I had someone continuously copy and paste my whole Blog topic to their page for the sole purpose to carry on the harassment. Open discussion and one disagreeing with another is one thing, but pure out right disrespect and instigating comments are another. And even for some, if their comment gets deleted because of disrespect, instead of them moving on, it will more than likely happen all over again. I for one am finally glad Fox has stepped in. It feels good to be able to comment or write a Topic without having to worry about what attack is coming next, and not having to constantly be on the defensive side. Thanks Sage, great topic to share.

With all the lies our own government tells us, one would think we all wound have some pretty tough skin, evidently we dont.
Personal attacks are really uncalled for, but this is human nature..attack those that disagree, its been going on since the dawn of man. Religion, and Politics..two taboo subjects. Everyone wants to be right, and no one accepts being wrong, Its time we stopped being the big ol babies of the world, and Grow up, discuss civilly, and possibly come up with solutions, to the many problems this country faces. And STOP catering to those that DO nothing to make this country better.

OK YBSRobin... If someone has a different opinion than yours based in facts omitted on a topic, and they site those facts.. is that an attack?

If said facts are then deleted, and people reading are getting the wrong perspective, so it is taken elsewhere to protect it from editing is that harrassment?

Its a good idea Twizlled. There are too many "sources" of information out there, and we don't teach our children in public school, nor in the liberal biased colleges the critical thinking skills to recognize when the pieces of the puzzle don't add up.

Recently, the leadership has been caught spinning, or placing questions in a context that is incorrect when they pose them. Obama for example continues to state that Al Qaeda was NOT in Iraq until we go there and Sadaam was not part of 9/11. Well nobody said he was! Iraq was a seperate issue and none of the 17 resolutions he breached had anything to do with terrorist! But the left continues to try to confuse people.

In here I continue to point out incorrect perspective, bad history, or out of context statments. Some here have been caught practicing this, and consider that exposure an "attack." If my facts were incorrect then I would and on occassion have been corrected by many here, and I thank them for it rather than cry foul and run to the webmaster.

Stand behind your opinion with Facts, ALL the facts, and nothing but the facts and you will not run into such problems. Its just that easy.

Abunai, can't you behave for just once? Did I add your name to my comment? You must be feeling real guilty by answering to something that was not directed to your personal name, and Fox apparently saw right through you and your so called attempt at being "The Purveyor of Truth," and deleted the 3 Blog Topics you stole from me that had nothing but harassing comments in them, and also deleted 4 or 5 others that you felt necessary to hi-jack as well by dumping inappropriate comments into. It just goes to show that you will never be able to admit for once you "MAY" have been wrong in doing something. So it's "continued" comments like yours that will keep the Fox Moderators continuing to keep things in order. You just now have proven the point of what everyone is so aggravated over. You are not the Blog Moderator, you are not the "Instructor" to tell people when, where, what, or how to Blog. You are human just like everyone else, so get over yourself already! And since I know you have to always have the last word, you go right ahead, it will only continue to show your true colors to everyone, including the Fox Moderators! And if people want or choose to use the Delete Button, guess what,it's a Free World and we can whether you like it or not!

And BTW Abunai, when certain things are omitted, especially due to someone posting a false statement about someone else's personal financial condition that I know to be stated as a personal malicious and slanderous attack directed towards another user, then those facts are omitted and are not up for discussion nor are inapproprate comments. Just because you missed something, means you don't have to get your nose bent out of joint over it. People usually delete with good reasons. You just have a hard to accepting it!

YBSRobin read my blog

correction on the last line, "just have a hard "time in" accepting it. NOBSHERE, more than likely people do care because these are public Topics and children do come on this site, even though we don't always agree, we should all do the "right" thing and remain adults and/or civil about it and be careful how we say things. This is after all a Blog Site for all ages. Otherwise some just need to take it to an adult site if disrespect can't be left at the Blog Border Line.

YBSRobin... in your own words.. "You are not the Blog Moderator, you are not the "Instructor" to tell people when, where, what, or how to Blog."

I'd suggest you actually take onboard some of your own advice... as to deletions that I have not seen, I refer to the comments of mine that you had deleted that you decided did not have anything to do with the topic at hand. In fact they did, but they debunked your theory, and upon that threat, you protected your opinion by editing out facts. That was my objection. Others here have stated their objection to your editing, and refered to many examples of it. You are simply attacking the messenger here. It is not I with "sour grapes."

These blogs with this screening seem to be working fine for now. My comments apparently are acceptable, and truthful.
NOBESHERE.. While nobody knows anyone personally, the issue for me is neither do I know any of the others that vote in this country, but they base their decission in that voting booth from various forums of information. When bad or incomplete facts are offered and turned into garbage, then it reflects in those opinions. What we have are people trying to pollute the blog or cloud the truth that are upset when called on it.

My problem is this, lets say I right a blog on how cute puppies are. It's plain and simple to the point. Two or three posts down someone will post something totally off topic. With in 8 post's its just a group of people flaming each other about something totally of the topic. My point is keep the discussion on topic.

People need to stop putting personal attacks up against one another for any reason. When you make someone else's post a venue for your own vendetta against another person(s) then you have hijacked it. It's unfair and rude to do this for any reason.

Blog's are written to encourage discussion on the topic at hand not to go off on tangents not related to the original post (op). People need to stop feeding these people who do this with remarks. The key is for everyone to keep their discussion on topic. That's all I am trying to get across here.

YBS please for everyone here state where you felt the need to "defend" yourself on Yellowdogs blog on the Tampa site. You dragged your side of things over there and yet not a single thing had even been said to you on that blog. When called out on it you even ask that your comments be deleted. Not only did you attempt to "stir the pot" over there but you also tried to drag in another NON FOX affiliated blog site into it saying how vile and nasty it was and that it should be shut down. I have a suggestion, start your own blog site and then you can be the administer/moderator and can then control whatever is put on YOUR site. I just think it will be a lonely place.

Blog hijacking is everywhere is here to stay. I recently signed up on this site coming from the Florida Today online forum. I am seeing the same garbage here that I encountered there. Hijacking, personal attacks, republicans pushing their agenda and attacking liberals, democrats attacking conservatives. It gets old. Maybe I'll try an out of state site, perhaps it's just us Floridians. This site has one definite downside and that's the delay in posting. Pretty much makes any conversation impossible.

Rideintodarkness... THANKYOU! I made that suggestion weeks ago! If you want to screen/edit blogs at your own leisure, then go to blogspot and make your own blog. We have some folks from very radical positions that try to use the MYFOX areana to spread their word, and have been caught trying to edit out factual information that goes agaist their views. When called on it, its an attack, or harrassment. YBSRobin, here is yet another example from a different source and location as to your own practices that you continue to deny. It is obvious now that all who read here and the MYFOX folks have seen it, and understand the context of the FULL story. It is you and one or two others that are the exception NOT everyone else in this matter. I have a feeling others will step forward and break their silence and offer more examples of just who is destroying the temper of this site.

People only hi-jack what you allow them too, there is a delete button option which isn't used! If you delete the offender then they will stop bothering to even comment! But if you don't and jump right in on their hi-jack then you are just as guilty and you get what you asked for! Because of the lack of own post monitoring, we are now all being treated like the children who acted! It only goes as far as you let it! Thanks!

But FOX, monitoring comments is one thing but messing with posts has nothing to do with it so why take it further then it really needs to go?

I have been an actor, writer, and journalist, among other things. Currently I am getting ready to go back to school. I think that news, as clichè as it sounds, is one day away from being history. I enjoy reading, writing, running, biking and swimming. Ironically I hate the Triathlon. Yet I believe exercise is the key to a happy life! Politically I'm a Moderate Democrat and I listen to anyone's views, the only thing that really irks me is people who insult others for having different views. Which often makes me insult them in turn. I guess that makes me a Hypocrite... At least I won't be lonely.
