First let me start off by saying that if I make someone mad with my blog.. Oh Well !! Like my Dad used to tell us.. You have the same pants to get glad in.

I am Not going to be policitally correct here. I don't care about all that stuff. I think that's what is wrong with this world today. I Am going to speak my mind. This is my 1st amendment right.

I AM a 6th generation Floridian. My brother has traced our family back to the 1700's.  So I do have a say in flying my flags.. whether they be the American, Confederate, MIA POW. I am also a PROUD member of the Sons and Daughters of the Confederate.

I want to 1st say that if you are reading this and you are from up north.. well, there's a big black strip of asphalt called I-4, I-75, I-95, you can get on it and go back where you came from. WE DON'T CARE HOW YOU DO IT UP THERE !! That is the reason why we "southerens" are in the shape we are in now.. because you think you can come down here and tell us what we can do. And IF you are from up north.. I don't think that you have a right to say ANYTHING on this subject concerning my Hertiage.

If you are black and from the south.. that flags flyes for your hertitage too. Your ansectors fought for that flag too. Some are probably buried in Arlington Cemetary. Do you really know how Arlington Cemetary started? There is a section not many people visit  there for the "C T 'S that are buried there. The C T' S stands for colored troops. You need to stop playing video games on the computer google the civil war and read why it really started. It was not about slavery. Before Abraham Lincoln.. who by the way was a REPLUBLICAN NOT a DEMOCRAT, before He signed the Emancipation - 13th Amendment the American flag embodied slavery not the Confederate Flag !!  Many of the slaves after the Civil war stayed and worked. Some left but most stayed. They were Confederates like the rest of our ancestors. I am not a history major.. I have a high school diploma and  a little college. History was my worse subject in school. But I do know my hertitage.

I can not believe that ya'll ( let me translate for you yankess ) you all have once again stuck your yankee noses into what we wave in and on our own property.  So what.. ya'll don't like it.. is there anything that we do that ya'll do like?

Just because some organization adopted our flag and made it their own doesn't mean that all southerners are racists. I wished that they would have adopted another flag but they for some reason chose our "Stars and Bars".  There are black people here that I know personally that wave their Hertitage in their yard and on their trucks, They are proud of it.

Well, I'll tell you one thing... you try coming on my property and tell me that I have to take down by Stars and Bars and I can't wave it,  I'll put a musket bullet in your butt. I am that passionate about my hertiage and I am damn proud that my people gave their lives for what they believed  in.

And if you do google Arlington Cemetary.. you yankees would probably go dig up your ancestors because they are buried on Robert E. Lee's property. A Confederate General. If you can't find it on google.. go to www.ask.com  ya'll will see it there.

I do not know why waving a Confederate Flag bothers so many people. If they see hate in that flag then they need to look in the mirror at themselves. Because hate comes from within.

I say Fly on Stars And Bars... wave proudly in the wind. It's my heritage not hate.

I remember the story of Arlington. Lincoln was asked where they should bury the dead from battle and he replied "bury them in Mrs. Lee's rose garden"...or so the story goes.

Roscoe.. If you want a White History Month then why dont you start one? But Frankly if you read of the American History books, you will find white history already written. Black History is just for ONE month. All the things that school history books DONT tell you about Black people in America are taught in this month. But I am not opposed to White History Month. Go for it! But what will White History Month teach us that we dont already know?

Roscoe43 read my blog

It will teach us that not all white people are racists because they chose to wave their rightful Hertitage flag. I do not care if you are black or white....it is your Hertitage plain and simple.

Then you dont need a White History Month. You need a Confederate History Month.

I think what it is is that when you see an old Nazi with gear laying around and flying that flag it is a bit gross. The Confeds lost and nearly destroyed this nation before and after and during the war. Walk Arlington again and see who would be alive if that "heritage" didnt fight and kill 400,000 soldiers and tens of thousands of others. You fight, kill and then lose.... you lose your toys and "heritage". Rule of the Globe.

Old Nazi? what the hell are you talkiing about?
we did not almost destroy this nation... you need to look back in to history a weeee bit more truthguys.. you could learn a little bit by reading your books !!
We fought for a greater cause... Cause we didn't want people like to to tell us what to do with our property or our lives.

I agree with you on a "Confederate Month" not a white history month.
thank you for your suggestion :)

truthguys... I guess you agree with the war in Iraq too... since you seem to think that "we" fight.. "we" kill and then we lose...
Go Figure .. stupid

And Roscoe, i am a black guy giving you that suggestion. Go Figure.. LOL At first I was against the Confederate flag but Now I see a lil differently. Even though I am still a bit apprehensive but whatever makes people happy. if its heritage then its heritage.. Just thank the KKK or the other racist groups out there that used your Southern flag for their own hateful propaganda.

i figured your were black. Color of people's skin does not make a difference in the way I look at people. I know there are other groups that has done that flag injustice. I hate that, but those people have hate in their heart. I as my grandmother once said.. never judge anyone until you have walked in their moccassins. If I were a black person I would be more than a bit concerned.. because your of how you were treated, but not everyone in this world thinks like that. My best friend in the wholw wide world is black or how she puts it.. a nice cream color.. :)
Thanks for sharing this with me.. I feel like I have gained a friend.. by the way.. i am a woman

Roscoe is my family nickname. I was named after a very prominate husband and wife in putnam county.
I am too learning alot from these blogs. I am like you.. some I agree with some I don't. I like Fox 35 because they are the only ones that cover our area.. we are in the upper most volusia county.. just a hop, skip. jump from the putnam county line. nobody seems to want us here.. we can't get the jax'ville news so we are kind of stuck with the orlando news.. during the hurricanes in 2004 we were totally left out 35 news was the only ones that we could rely on to let us know what was going on.
I'm glad I threw you for a loop.. never know really who u r chatting with on here do u?

Roscoe, Afelton is one of the most sensible, intelligent, likable person you'll ever meet on this site. My Southern roots run deep, and I
strongly believe that The Confederate Flag has
everything in the world to do with Heritage, and nothing in the world to do with hatred, especially against Blacks. I used to teach pre-Kindergarten at a Christian school, where there was another teacher who happened to have
the same last name as mine. She was Black, and
we were the best of friends. We used to love "blowing the minds" of the kids on the playground, when we were sitting side by side, and they would come running up to us. They would say, "Hey, you're Miss C, and you're Mrs.
C, how can that be?" And we'd say, "And you know what else? We're sisters, too! We have the
same Father in Heaven!" They'd look at her, with her beautiful black skin and hair, and me,
with my white skin and blond hair, wide eyed,
ponder our words, and suddenly grin, and shout,
"Oh we get it!" I wonder when those who don't understand the difference between the meaning of Heritage and The Confederate Flag, and flat
out ignorance, racism, and hatred between Blacks and Whites, Reds, Yellows, Browns, Greens, and Blues, will EVER GET IT !

Deborah,
Thanks for sharing that story. I too myself have a story.. My ole man was born and raissed in the beautiful state of Kentucky. I met him just 5 short years ago. When I met him he had not been home for 25 plus yrs. I asked him why, he said that he didn't like to depend on anyone. He is legally blind. He has a hertitary disease that destroys the optical nerve. I know how he feels about not wanting to depend on people. I lost 1/2 my right arm in 1983. But that's a different blog all 2gether. Anyway, When I finally talked my ole man into going back to ky to visit his ailing mom and dad, I fell in love. Not just with his parents but with Ky. By the way.. Ky was a non partisn state during the civil war.. i think that is why most people from ohio hated people from ky... it's also the birthplace of abraham lincoln. He moved to illinois as a child.
Back to the story.. my ole man is 61. he grew up in the 50' - 60's where it was racially divided. when we got up there to ky.. the 1st person my ole man wanted to see was his childhood friend. Henry Brown. when i was inmtorduced to henry.. he rreplied.. i'm henry brown.. i'm brown all the way down.. do u wanna see? with a big heart felt laugh he said he was just kidding. i fell in love with henry.. not romatically but as a brother. he told me some funny stories about my ole man and him growing up in this time period.
mu ole man owned a convertable corvette. this small town that they grew up in wasn't accustomed to seeing a white bioy and a black boy riding around town together and they got looked at hard. one day while stopp

Roscoe43 read my blog
Jun 6, 2008 | 5:41 PM

ed at a red light, my ole man reached over to henry and laided a big kiss on him.. not on the cheeck either.. he said there.. that'll give them something to talk about. When they went out to eat.. henry wasn't allowed inside the restaurant.. so my ole man and his sister would order the food and go out back and eat with henry. henry is part of our family. he is a brother to my ole man. and was a son to his parents. I can't wait until we are sitting out under his gazeebo that he built and listen to him telling stories about when they were younger. it's a miracle neither one of them ended up in jail. but i love to hear henry laugh.. i can hear him right now. he is a wonderful friend.
Hope ya'll have a wondeerful weekend. Be safe God bless America.. Lord we need it right now.
Roscoe

Afelton and Roscoe, thanks for sharing YOUR stories, too. I could never be prejudiced of people because of their skin color. You see, I
KNOW first hand, what it feels like to be discriminated against, because of my Caucasian (Scottish) nationality. Although I was born in the South, spent my fondest years, early childhood, and Summers on my Grandpa's farm in the South; I grew up in Hawaii. We moved there when I was 4 years old, and lived there until I
was almost 15. I was THE MINORITY there. I was
the "Haole," a derogatory term for white people. I was the only green-eyed blond in a sea of black-eyed, black haired kids, and most of them hated me! I could never understand why,
but it did teach me empathy for those who are discriminated against SOLELY for their skin color.

Deborah.. I find a connection while you again. I had the pleasure of visiting Hawaii in 2003. It was far away from the tourists. i had a wonderful staying at a native hawaiian's house there on the big island. Hilo. What a beautiful place. It was like being out in the country. I learned really fast that u dob't refer to the US as the Us.. it is referred to as the main land. :)

That's right, THE MAIN LAND! I finally fit in over there, when I showed THEM I could surf as well, if not better than they did! There's a mudslide over there called "Jackass Ginger," did anyone show it to you while you were there? You slide down it on Ti leaves into a pool of spring water. It's like 200 feet down a mountain, absolutely outrageous.

no nobody showed me that. I don't think that I would have done if they did show it to me. I'm afraid of heights. They did take me to see Kilaewa(spelling) at night. That was the most beautiful thing I ever seen. The lava glowing at night. We got really close to the lava that you could feel the heat off it. Those 10 days I spent there will be forever etched in my heart

My parents, and one of my brothers (the one who is in the wagon with me) have been back, and they say it has changed soooo much since we were there as a family. Kilauea erupting at night? Yes, that IS awesone, Our God is indeed awesome, to create such a "monster," isn't He?

I am the 6th generation of Native Floridians. I AM proud to be southern. It's stupid people that does not understand what hertitage is. There's alot wrong with this world today that we can not wave our flag because we upset someone. Well, I say get over it. It is my birth right to wave my flag and I will wave it until the Good Lord calles me home.
