It has now been a little over two years when a group of UCF students decided to become leaders in their community and become a voice for the voiceless, with music as their weapon. Rock for Hunger is a nonprofit organization started by College students from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. It all began with the first annual festival, which was a student project of which the goal was getting college students active in their community. Now two years later, here we are with Rock for Hunger being a fully volunteer run nonprofit and obtained our 501(c)3 status earlier this year. Rock for Hunger now has programs to help provide meals, clothing, resume building assistance, and more for the homeless and poverty stricken individuals. Along with this program, we also have volunteer opportunities that assist a community after school program in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Orlando focusing on K-2 kids. The goal of the after school program is to strengthen math and literacy skills for children living in poverty and homelessness, and providing them with a positive learning environment geared for success.
On Saturday November 15th its time for Orlando to Rock for Hunger once again! This year ROCK FOR HUNGER FEST 3 will be held at The Plaza Theatre featuring over 20 bands from the top local bands, to rising bands from the Southeastern United States, and Billboard Chart topping artist KARDINAL OFFISHALL headlining the event. The festivities will take place from 2pm till midnight with three stages featuring live music, and an arts & crafts fair in the front parking lot with many great vendors from our community. Tickets to this year’s event will be $20 and are available at The Plaza Theatre, Ticketmaster, Ten Thousand Villages, and Park Ave CD’s. Special VIP balcony seating is also available which includes a private bar, free shirt, and more for only $40. Come join us on Saturday November 15th along with many great supporters from the community such as Bud Light, Monster Energy Drinks, XL 106.7, Reax Magazine, Metromix Orlando, Planet Smoothie, Ten Thousand Villages, Lucky Number 17 and many more.
