Jesse Helms passed away today on the 4th of July.

We could use 435 people like him to serve as Representatives and a 100 more to serve as Senators. The left despised him because of the true conservative he was. He was outspoken on the gay issues and some called him a narrow minded bigot.  He served on his principles and if the left can hold T. Kennedy in high regards then we on the right can hold up J. Helms for our side.   So be it.

The man left a mixed legacy tainted by racism and ties to Big Tobacco. (It's ironic how nobody howls "socialism" when someone on the right pushes farm subsidies and special government breaks for a particular crop.) He was no saint, so there's no reason to canonize him.

Well, sensiblejoe, you knew where he stood and he wasn't pretending to be something he wasn't, unlike Obama.
Did I say he was a saint? Canonization? C'mon! A simple mention of a great politician's passing is hardly that.

You just KNEW that the party of Jesse ( New York is Himeytown ) Jackson,, Jeremiah ( name it,, he's SAID it ) Wright,, Robert (the Grand Poopa of the KKK ) Byrd,, Joe ( He's SOOO articulate for a Black Man ) Biden and MANY MANY others would come on here and denounce Helms for being a Racist...LMAO..

Dirty secret... because he was such a conservative Republican, NOBODY on the news is even reporting his passing! Had it been Kennedy, the mainstream media would have cancelled all programming to work it for a week! The last thing the media wants is ANY good news or story from the right! Celebrating Helm's life would just be too risky.

Grew up in the good ol' 50's and 60's. I am opininated, sappy, sentimental and love my Country..but hate where it is headed (socialists scare the bejeebers out of me). I want to retire but can't afford to do so. Love the outdoors. Believe in right to carry arms for protection and sports. Married to a wonderful guy that knows the way to my heart is buying me a load of potting soil from the rock and gravel man.
