9/11 dramatically effected President Bush's terms in office.  9/11 was heart breaking to Americans and had us united together and united with the rest of the world.  Techies all over found information to help us locate terrorists.  I, for one, wanted the satisfaction of seeing terrorist training camps in any Arabic country leveled.

With another President, we might have gone in, did the deed, and got out.  But oil was involved.  Now American soldiers are defending Iraq with their lives and at our financial expense.  At the same time Iraq is ripping us off in oil.  They should be paying for their own defense.  Bush promised that they would, then forgot that promise!   Remember that ? !   Allies that were with us have had enough.

In office now Republicans, both in the state and in Florida have given big business great tax breaks.  This is typical of Republicans in a good economy.  The tax burden is shift to the people.  This time Floridians said, "No thanks!"

Now in a failing economy (please do not give me the BS about "Nothing to fear by fear itself-self fullfilling prophesy--trust in the economy--head in the sand clears the mind) ----

Now in a failing economy, the Republicans cut  benefits to the helpless.  They cut foster programs, DCF, nursing homes, classroom spending, and the state's attorney general's office just when crime (from desperation) is spiraling.

We need to dump the Republicans in both the state and fed gov't and replace them all with Democrats.   Who knows if they will do better, but the Republicans certainly are not doing anything productive.

Oh goodie...I can't wait to give back money to the democraps that they'll make us pay. Our taxes will probably go higher. So if we would have left Iraq, I suppose you're going to be the one crying that innocent women and children are getting killed and seeing images on t.v about it. No one is ever happy with anything so let's all sit back and not do a damn thing. If you want such cheap gas, start drilling in our backyards. Oh but wait...too many people complain it would be ugly and don't want to see it in their backyard. Stop complaining already. At least Bush isn't bumping someone in the office.

Lets just look at some facts:

Democrats reduced the military by almost HALF, then ran them into the ground in the 90s!

Democrats REFUSED to stand up and follow thru with the first breaches of UN resolutions in 93 in Iraq, as we lost over 4400 troops in Clinton's first 4 year term alone!!!

OBL himself said Clinton and America were paper tigers and afraid of bloodshed and would never fight, and Clinton went out of his way to prove him right!! America was seen as cowards with a big mouth in the 90s and could be led by the nose and manipulated at will as evident with weapons inspections through the 90s!

Hit after hit on Americans continued. USS Sullivans had an attempt on it in Yemen, and though it failed, Clinton refused to engage, and eventually the USS Cole hit was successful!

93 WTC bombing didn't do the job right, so they worked up a better plan, and finished it off on 9/11, only 8 months into Bush's term.

Clinton traded huge Saudi Arabian donations to his library for not demanding questioning of suspects of the Kohbar Towers bombing!

We had the "Wall" where we could not share information, that helped lead to the accidental bombing of a Chinese embassy and STILL didn't fix the problem!

Cont:

Clinton appointed top brass in the Pentagon allowed the stripping of DoD to go without complaint, and reports of readyness were never to show any problems. Sure we have hundreds of fighters, tanks, and bombers, but nobody reported only HALF could even operate!

So Clinton leaves, Bush comes in and mind you the ousting of Sadaam was a plan written by Clinton but never executed. Bush takes over, and begins to continue the plan when 9/11 hits, and now we have terrorism out of control!

We sent our forces overseas according to readyness that was REPORTED FALSELY, and THEN we find out we have material issues, no armour, and a fighting force structured for social diversity instead of by ability to fight and wage war!

Not that the media and some Democrats didn't tip our hand and leak operations every chance that got! Fake Koran abuse stories, etc.

This war BTW is only 1% of GDP compared to WWII that was 25% GDP and with rubber drives, silk drives, media sensorship, food drives, civil defense partols, and ACTUAL civil liberties recended! Your mail was opened, phones tapped, etc.

PegasusWing, once again you have become the messenger of outright propaganda from the left, with no historical perspective or depth of details necessary to take such in the correct context.

Bush simply is doing his job DISPITE criticism. He is hated by so many because he has taken many issues before this nation that call for unpopular action onboard, and like spoiled children not getting their way, liberals have whined and cried and had tantrums over work that should have alre

Now.. Oil companies: Profit margin of 9.5%....

Single digit profits!!! If you liberals are going to spin the overall monatary number, at least you could ask how much it cost to actually operate! Yet that would not fit into the liberal agenda....

Apple made profit margin figure in the 20s! Yahoo, too. Microsoft in the double digits as well, but now liberals already had their shakedown of Microsoft in the 90s, along with Tobbacco....

I don't hear anyone on the left going after BIG FARMER on corn and wheat where they are getting over 9 bucks a bushel up from just 2! AND STILL RECEIVING GOVT SUBSIDIES!!!

Come on already! PegasusWing, with respect, I will be here everyday, adding the context and perspective to the spin you continue to throw against the wall desperately seeking something to stick!

In a Democratic controlled House, I find it hard to believe that you fault only the Republicans. Electing more Democrats will hasten this country's slow slide into insolvency. I don't care for the politics of a socialist or communist, most of the rest of the world doesn't either as few if any are cast in a favorable light.

I think that we are falling into the Greatest Depression ever.
I worry that dollars for foreign oil, another war that cannot be won, a country over run by illegal squatters, businesses all gone abroad, this time we will not have the means to recover.

Something in a government deal brought ATT home, but I haven't found out yet. Will they bring others home?

Abunai, I realize that you are a military man and know more than I do about defense. However, we can not afford this war.
We do have to be ready to take out Iran if they ever fire atomic weapons at us.
We are out of the Cold War and the Arms Race with Russia, and now we have the Mid East.

Drilling for oil at home will only postpone the energy crisis, we need to get off this massive consumption of oil, even if it does mean a new lifestyle.
Sooner or later we will run dry and must be able to survive.
We are seen as the biggest threat to world peace.
While helping big business prosper does help the economy *Sometimes*
That is not the case if they are going abroad.
So why do they get tax breaks when they give the country nothing in return?

Get ready, because I do think that the Democrats will take the White House. They almost did last time, but Kerry was just too scary. Actually now, relatively speaking, he looks good.

The cold war never really ended, Putin is one example of the proof. Same war, the players just changed over half-time !

..lets start with a very simple question : how exactly is Iraq negatively affecting our economy ? You and a full chores line of idiots who hated Bush before he was elected (for the crime of not being a liberal/communist like your blue brothers) and have been selling this line of BULL non stop for 5 years now so PUT UP OR SHUT , where are “war dollars” spent ? Who is being employed by the production of war materials and supply's ? ...after you think (for the first time in most cases with liberals) it over you will realize that this war is the ONLY thing keeping our economy afloat at this time...we can't afford to quit this war and that is a fact!
Of equal importance and interest is that we where “at war” with Iraq long before Georg W Bush became president and our presence in Iraq is a necessity that would/will last even if a demon rat becomes president...mark it now and remember it later not Hillary not Obama NO ONE will pull us out of Iraq ...it is not going to happen.

Or are you living in a fantasy world where IF Gore had gotten elected we would have started the “War on global warming” and spent trillions of dollars fighting pollution...and that is how your side (the left) would have recovered from the total economic shut down that happened after 9/11 ???

RNC08..you are totally living in fantasyland.. If the war is supporting our economy than we need to stop the war totally..Becuase the GNP only rose by 0.06% recently..thats nothing..Pegasus is right we can no longer afford this war..This war is going to put tthiis country in total kaos... We are hovering on the brink of disaster... and you being a loyal republipuke can only praise George W for what he has done..Ok lets examine what George W has done:
1. He has us involved in a illegal war.
2. He is responsible for over 4000 deaths in Iraq not to mention the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi lives and the thousands that are mamed and dislocated
3. THe economy is in the toilet.Totally!!
4 Pol is at record levels even compared to the 1970's with Jimmy Carter..it has bypassed those levels
5. The realestate market is at a total standstill
6. Banks are losing billiond and billions of dollars
7. Auto makers are losing billions
8. Corporations are starting to lay off by the thousands.
9. Consumer Confidence is at a ALL time LOW!
10.Food has gone up by 20%.
The stock market is so volitile that I have stopped trading months ago
So if you think that George W is doing a good job.. you are part of the 28% that still think so... BEcause the rest of the country has seen the light.. WE ARE SICK OF THE REPUBLICANS!!! and come november there will be such a outcry..that I doubt if there will be even a republican party left... Good riddence to bad rubbish

Pegasus, why do you think we're going to run dry? It's because people like you don't want to drill off the coast! We have more oil than you think in this country. It's all the whiners who don't want it to be done and they're the same people who are constantly complaining about the price of gas. Yes, I agree the gas prices are out of control, but we CAN do something about it. I'm all for drilling. I don't care if I have to look out my back window and see it. If you actually think Obama or Hillary is the answer, you better wake up. I can't wait to see what happens in November. WE'RE SCREWED!!!

Go ahead and drill.
The price will continue to go up, still! Get real, they will say, "Well, the cost of the platforms have gone up, you know, so that is why we have no choice but to stick it to you."
I don't care about higher gas prices, it may pave the way to alternatives that have been blocked for decades.
Oil companies have bought up battery technology for years.
We still need to conserve oil.
It does not protect the Gulf if we are not drilling but the Chinese are.
That is too stupid.
There is still a finite amount of oil we can suck out of Mother Earth.
Texas is dry, sooner or later Alaska and the Gulf will be too.
We will always need oil.
Sooner or later the world will come to a grinding halt.
We need to delay that, and be prepared with alternatives already in place, not try to start scrambling from a dead stop.

You know..EVERY ONE of these "Facts" are really ONLY opinions..And HIGHLY debatable ones at THAT..

There is NO LEGAL or substitive support for the OPINION that THIS is an ILLEGAL war..And THAT'S just ONE example..The REST of your "facts" are EQUALLY questionable..

YOU people think WAY too highly of yourselves..YOU think that ALL it takes is for YOU to be against something to MAKE it WRONG..GROW UP...The UNIVERSE doesn't revolve around YOUR opinions..

Oh I know Hawkeye... You see where I posted plenty of FACTS that dispute these opinions and talking points and because these libs know that these facts exist they simply ignore them and continue the same points they made initially! PegasusWing and KISSHANK, I suggest you save your energy for defending your worthless left wing majority because very soon a Republican will be in the oval office once again, and it won't be because he won but more that you libs lost!

In every since of normality and historic perspective, Democrats should be running away with this election but the left has done EVERYTHING it can think of to derail themselves.

I think it GREAT that the left is FINALLY being exposed! Complain about stealing elections in 2000 yet you set up Super delegates long before that to pevert your own party!!! Absolute hipocrites!!

Yaw repeating yourself does not make you any more right or on target than you where the first time KissHank , I will ask you ONE MORE TIME 1 how does the federal government spending billions of dollars IN our economy hurt our economy (and inversely how will removing that money help it ?) 2 when have higher taxes every helped the economy/ lowered inflation / restored consumer confidence ? 3 what kind of islamofashist are you to call this great nation a threat to world peace ?...we are a threat but only to the enemies of this country and the enemies of this country are the enemies of peace !...you understand the “economy” the way a monkey understands a plasma TV ...as something to throw your own excrement at !

YOU are quite incapable of carrying on YOUR side of this debate without benefit of human shields in the form of “the children” …

You are usually, and quite often, outnumbered by people whose views are rooted in facts and logic and reason …

Whereas yours are rooted in emotion.

See, just see if you can have your side of this debate without

1) using the words children, kids, young`ins, or future generations (or any word that denotes ‘the young’ of the species)

2) or dragging out ‘depleting our own oil reserves’ … which are YET to be even mapped out to tap into.

3) listing for what is “the REAL world” of our society YOUR master plan to get us oil free from the terrorists, and remain afloat on billions of barrels of our own untapped reserves.

Everyone here would love to be free of oil … foreign or domestic … BUT the reality of the situation is we are years away from that.

So, tomorrow morning you will not find this massive stoppage in work and empty highways just to suit YOUR myopic view of how to handle this current situation … which IS purely market and politically driven … and NOT a shortage of oil under the ground.

Well if you’re worried about our society being so oil dependent quit voting for democrats who’s “green” policy makes it impossible for us to reduce our dependence on foreign oil because nothing is 100% to their satisfaction.

My God YOUR STUPID PEG AND SHANK!

I think the title says it all about this one...Dem's must win NOT because they have ideas that will improve this country but just and only because they are Dem's...to the “children” that compose the vast majority of the Democratic party's base our future is as meaningless as the out come of a football game and voting /supporting a party is as trivial as picking a sports team to support.
I often fail to make a point here because the liberals who oppose me do not use facts and do not support “ideas founded in logic” or designed to improve the future of this country...they shout and chant idiocy and bumper sticker platitudes to promote their “team” ...show me HOW any of the idiocy being spouted by the DNC and its current crop of idiots will improve the future or even address/help on any of the subjects that have been hand picked by the DNC/RNC for us to consider in this election?

As far as what Specter just said I agree with his evaluation (a bit heavy handed as it may be) Peg /shank spend more time fighting to be “good little liberals” than they do looking at facts or trying to make logical decisions on our future (its why we use the term “bleeding heart” and why to every intelligent American it is an easy to understand insult)

I am a portrait artist, kitchen designer, former teacher, and MOM of two incredible young adults. I feel that oil companies are destroying the country. I would like to see congress pass much higher milage requirements for all vehicles of locomotion. I would like to see the rail systems improve and ultimately reduce the 18 wheelers on the road. We need more alternative energy, and not ethanol; solar, wind, water. I would like to see illegal invaders go home. I would like to see all our men and women in the military come home. There is no reason Iraqi should not pay for their own defense. I would like to see it cost businesses to "outsource". I'd like to eliminate Capital Hill's Golden Fleece Pension and see all of the men and women on Capital Hill receive the same social security and health insurance that we get, then, just maybe they would get serious about saving it.
