If the Iraqi want us there, then they should pay private contractors for our military presence. The mercenaries should be under Iraqi control. Iraqi should be in charge of their own war. They have the dollars from the oil to pay for their own defense.
Whose decision was it to dump this on the shoulders of the American public? . . . . Oh, right.
Truth is, we maybe making "progress", but I doubt that this war can be "won". Muslims have no freedom of choice, the extremist rule. Anyone who has a mind of his own and dares to express it, dies. Nobody can every win against mad fanatics.
President Johnson got the Job Corp. going. It was expensive, but cheaper than keeping poor kids on welfare their whole lives. Nixon decimated the Job Corp. to have funds to "win" the VN war. Now we see Bush destroying the space program and the economy of our state to "win" the war in Iraq. Both Nixon and Bush closed domestic military bases to fund their wars. Neither war was ever "win-able!" So what are our real objectives of being there?
This is a bit confusing because when we blasted that thing out of the sky, we were really taking weapons into space. That violates international treaties. Why would Bush flex our muscle with that demonstration, then give such a blow to the space program?
I have learned not to listen to political explanations, but to figure out the truth for myself. This one stumps me.
