Sunday night a nine year old autistic boy ran into traffic on Goldenrod Rd. in Orange County and was hit by a car.  The driver won't be charged but do you think the child's guardians should be?

It depends on what they were doing. If they were partying yes but if they were doing all they could then no.

No. Should the guardian have kept the child on a leash? Then we would be calling for abuse charges. Sometimes bad things happen and it's noones fault.

Any child at any age can run out into the street and be hit. Unless as Eric stated the guardians were partying. Being Autistic, I'm sure takes a lot of work and maybe this boy just slipped out. I can only guess that the guardian did not want this to happen and wishes he had it to do over again.

Mr. Pegues, you are posing the wrong question. The question should be, “Why is our community failing miserably at helping families and children with special needs? Where are the affordable the therapies? Where is the community support?" This family needs our help and our compassion. Having a child with autism is more than a full time job. I am sure this family is doing everything they can, and wondering why they feeling so alone and hurt in a community that has so much to give.

There is technology available to allow parents to alarm doors so if they're opened you are immediately notified.

I take care of this boy. This is an amazing family. An alarm would not do them any good because if he hears an alarm he could cause bodily harm to himself. This family has three AMAZING children but unfortunately one is autistic and the other has a disease that I do not wish to discuss. My thoughts and prayers are with Johnathen and his Family and I hope he gets better soon that way I can see him again at the job.

No, why should she be charged? I know this family personally. It's not her fault.
